quixote, like the iliad and shakespeare’s later plays, is life--tragedy salted with humour; the aeneid, the inferno and paradise lost are literary works of almost superhuman eloquence, written for fame not profit, and seldom read except as a solemn intellectual task.

Probably his best film—or else, the House that Jack Built, but von Trier, in general, always fails at his own ideas. Actually, I would say that THTJB is the first time he did not fail (and yet it still sucks). I don't really "get" your tastes on anything save the car and woman.
My taste typically tends to be anything Christian-Existentialist (Subsequently, Russian) or anything to do with Pessimism.
I think Trier goes too far in his ideas to come out with a cohesive thematic narrative, but I love his style of Cinema. Vinterberg (The guy who directed my fourth film, "Druk") is his contemporary and is very similar in style, but typically does better in getting his ideas across.
Even though I wouldn't say I like von Trier, I would still have to be classified a fan or sorts. I've seen nearly every thing he's made and much of it more than once. I don't agree with his perspectives, but I respect he's one of the few directors out there with something to say and making an effort to say it with some refinement of technique. I've never heard of Vinterberg. I'll check him out.
I don't know if I've ever actually watched anything by Refn. I can't remember. I've heard of his films, of course, but they just don't look like they would suit me. Do you think he's better than von Trier?
I think I fricked the resolution of the image somehow so sorry if it can't be read, but since Sigourney Weaver is the only part of the image that matters, I'm content. I wanted to put in Pauline Etienne instead but I couldn't find a good picture of her in Le Bureau and her hairstyle in that is what works the best. I don't have a favourite car so I just picked what I use for work.

I have media ADHD and music/movies don't keep my attention. Western movies/tv need to be fast paced and filled with absurd (but not pretentiously absurd) things to keep my attention and even then I barely remember them.
I never play videogames for the story (VOMIT) but a videogame with good mechanics can keep me entertained.
Some anime kept me entertained in the past but once you watch all the good ones all that's left is trash. I'll have some 90s/2000s maybe even early 2010s anime playing in the background for ambience but it's never really that interesting.
Literature has enough depth to actually keep me focused unlike movie/tv plots and if I have good comprehension and reading speed I can just read faster.
Movies and music rarely do anything at all for me.
Also I basically never browse IQfy or IQfy but those medias resonate with me more than music and movies. IQfy has been /misc/ bait cancer even before 2016 election immigrants and before gamergate.
Go easy on me, I've only started to get back into reading last year

I think I fricked the resolution of the image somehow so sorry if it can't be read, but since Sigourney Weaver is the only part of the image that matters, I'm content. I wanted to put in Pauline Etienne instead but I couldn't find a good picture of her in Le Bureau and her hairstyle in that is what works the best. I don't have a favourite car so I just picked what I use for work.
>I already know I'm gonna get roasted for this.
Why? Demons and Another Round are good choices.
You're pretty based for liking Bronson.
I used to browse /MU and whenever I posted something like this I'd get harrassed by a bunch of manchildren who think Car Seat Headrest is the only valid music so I'm still adjusting to civility I suppose.
The contrast between high brow Russian literature and then seeing "Welcome to the NHK" two rows down nearly killed me.

>posts on IQfy but only infrequently
never browse IQfy but interesting thats your impression lol
I hate myself.
I am indifferent toward you.
What I gather from this thread is that anons who have good taste in books often have bad taste in cinema, and vice versa.
true. only one poster managed to demonstrate taste in both and it was me.
yeah i thought everyone went the IQfy to IQfy to IQfy pipeline but it turns out most of them somehow migrated from IQfy or IQfy

IQfy has been /misc/ bait cancer even before 2016 election immigrants and before gamergate.

i know my movie picks are shit, i stopped watching them at 15 because i understood only at that time that it is a worthless medium

The desire for (you)s is a cancer. IQfy was better off before it implemented (you)s.
