no its not fine. Its the first distro every moron chooses for some reason and it breaks and then they come here and complain about it. If you want arch without arch just use garuda.
it was my first distro and it did break, it didnt want to download any update for any packages after one update got stoped by my internet going crazy for an hour or so, literally any update would go to lik 48% and then stop and try to start again, or would show and error i dont remember anymore
It breaks for an observable reason, they insanely randomly snapshot portions of the repositories with out taking into account anything other than the base install
>The anti manjaro shilling is getting annoying >It's fine
it's just a trolling meme, everybody actually thinks manjaro is alright. don't let it get to you. some poojeets website citing their website went down twice is such a fricking joke.
I loled when Antergos went down. These high schoolers don't even realize the only difference between Arch/Manjaro/Endevour are a keyring/mirrorlist/10-packages and OS-Release.txt
I can't believe people can be so passionate about such a meme they don't even understand. Unironically, manjaro haters should kill themeselves. They are the biggest meme of all. HAHAHA
Lmao Manjaro is shite. It kept breaking for me also. I'm a linux noob, didn't have a fricking clue/not enough time to set up Artix from base so I'm using EndeavourOS until I'm ready for a base install. Endeavour hasn't broken once on me and I button bash a decent amount.
only desktop lonix distros i'd install would be >debian >fedora >maybe void
anything else can as well die out, shitty distros with different wallpaper don't matter
>distros that shouldn't exist...
Honestly we only need a handful of distros plus some tools to easily make more personalized versions.
Main branches are Arch, fedora, debian, slackware, Opensuse...we could use to drop 2-3 of those and all associated branches right away and that would help immensely. Of course people would just b***h that thier favorite distro is gone.
Still any distro that isn't doing something genuinely usefull or different to stand out needs to fricking go. A better question is what handful of distros should we KEEP.
My choices are... >debian, Arch and maybe fedora/redhat as main distros. Its pretty redundant after that. >A few 'feature complete' or beginner friendly branches per mainline. Think Manjaro and Mint. A bit of variety without splitting resources a hundred fricking ways. >And finally a few wierd oddball purpose built distros...puppy comes to mind as does RHEL and SteamOS 3 for gaymes.
Everything else needs to fricking die. Instead of hundreds of basically the same linux flavors we should have less fragmentation in repos and more universal programs and apps. Repos, snaps, flatpak and appimage ect should be ALL get at least some support.
Instead of 300 ways to install Linux lets have more ways to easily use it once installed.
The idea of distributions is stupid. Y'all need to focus on making applications to replace the ones we need instead of making 100000 distros of the same thing. 1 Linux is, everything else can frick off. Linux is a bad joke.
this is like this because we are programmers and tinkerers, we make forks of open source software and make the changes we want then release it so others can use it. thats why linux progresses the way it does. use windows if you want one standard os.
nta, its not dead but I get the feeling that its dying. lead project guy getting kicked out is a big red flag. it might be fine for the short term, but will it still be fine in 5 years?
The only "breaking" I've had Manjaro do was a keyring issue, which is absolutely fricking moronic and I don't know why it SOMETIMES correctly updates the keyring while that one time I had to manually do it.
>debian >archlinux >gentoo >fedora/rhel/rocky/alma >yocto >alpine
are the only distro that should exist, the rest is wrothless trash and have no reason to exist, non-base distros should just be install scripts that you apply to a base distro, that's the only same way to do it instead of wasting enormous amount of ressources into worthless customization, patching/backporting and maintainance burden...
Arch
tbh who thought making a 100 mirrors to download the iso, the packages and 1000 packages all submitted by random people was a good idea?
What exactly are trying to say?
something something "digital signatures"
based
The anti manjaro shilling is getting annoying
It's fine
no its not fine. Its the first distro every moron chooses for some reason and it breaks and then they come here and complain about it. If you want arch without arch just use garuda.
It doesn't break
it was my first distro and it did break, it didnt want to download any update for any packages after one update got stoped by my internet going crazy for an hour or so, literally any update would go to lik 48% and then stop and try to start again, or would show and error i dont remember anymore
It was my first and it broke
because you're a linux noob? or because manjaro bad?
It breaks for an observable reason, they insanely randomly snapshot portions of the repositories with out taking into account anything other than the base install
Good morning sir
> Bashes Manjaro but recommends Garuda.
pls redeem sirs

Manjaro is literally just Arch with Calamares and a shitty AUR utility.
exactly
Sounds based.
Just needs to get rid of the GUI package manager which is what "breaks" things when newbies use it wrong.
Any Ubuntu derivative

All of the hundreds of Ubuntu LTS reskins.
I use Linux Mint. Convince me it's bad.
I miss my barely functional crunchbang laptop, those were the days.
Why? If it works for you, why are you asking for convincing as to why it is "bad"? What is your use-case? Mint is a fine distro.
Anything besides Arch, Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora
Lmao Manjaro is shite. It kept breaking for me also. I'm a linux noob, didn't have a fricking clue/not enough time to set up Artix from base so I'm using EndeavourOS until I'm ready for a base install. Endeavour hasn't broken once on me and I button bash a decent amount.

>Centralize more
No.
Yeah youre right 20 more years of incompatibly and dependency hell are so much better...
Anything beats centralization.
Good thing i didn't suggest that huh
>what handful of distros should we KEEP.
Debian, Gentoo, NixOS.
>NixOS
troony spotted

yeah
where's womxnjaro

Id like to remind everyone that manjaro's Pamac, in effect, ddos'd the AUR last year
https://gitlab.manjaro.org/applications/pamac/-/issues/1017
Holy shit
remove this and we have 50% less troons on here
Dead distro
Not even half true. Nice try tho.
nta, its not dead but I get the feeling that its dying. lead project guy getting kicked out is a big red flag. it might be fine for the short term, but will it still be fine in 5 years?
Wrong thread, you're looking for underappreciated distros general.
anything without a pantsu wallpaper
Frick off normie
brainlets need not apply. There's a reason why endavour never gets brought up by anyone on this board
this distro literally has nothing going for it. im convinced only IQfyayBlack folk that don't want to use fedora or some deb-based distro use it.
>best KDE setup out of any distro
>YaST
Gentoo
