Prenups are legal contracts. If they get thrown out it's because they weren't done correctly and therefore aren't valid. I'm sure he can afford a decent lawyer if he's inheriting a business.

Wrong. You’re correct that what is earned before the marriage isn’t up for grabs, but everything else absolutely is. Theirs no real need for women to prove anything. Even scumbag ex wives end up running away with half. This is everywhere in the US, though some places are worse than others. Is OP going to legally inherit the business before the wedding? Who knows.

Its not too late to get a prenup and you can get a postnup too, and they absolutely do something, especially if you read the laws and case law or have a good attorney. Additionally, inheritance is rarely considered communal property. Do not involve your wife in the business, do not pay into a bank account that is shared or she has access to, or that you give her money from, and do not give her any proceeds from the business until the legal protections are in place. Everything is going to depend on laws where you live. Doomers on this subject bave never dealt with the situation, or have remained willfully ignorant and cynical.

The argument i used for a prenup: "I don't ever want us to be in a rough spot where we might value each others posessions over each other. A prenup takes all of that off the table so that our marriage will always be about us, and if we ever fight, we won't be incentivized to get a divorce."
In the event of divorce it makes things quicker and easier anyway. You already agreed how things should be split (hopefully not really split at all.) remember that you can't just write "i keep everything" and have her sign it, that doesn't work in court. You also need a new nuptual agreement any time a major change happens like buying a house or getting a new job, preferably before the financial change does occur.

The courts are fricked here in America. As soon as you walk in you might as well start emptying your pockets. The woman is perpetually the victim and if for some reason the situation is reversed and she makes a lot more than you they look at you as some freeloading scumbag so you're fricked either way.

Transfer the ownership of the business to an irrevocable trust that is outside US jurisdiction like in the Cook Islands. They'll never be able to get the business in a divorce and you'll still have complete control over it

This is also an option. It probably doesn't even need to be offshore though. In my state, regardless of someones will, inheritance can go into a trust, which protects your ass in a million ways.

If you're good with family who you will inherit business from, you can pose the argument that you will only get the family business if you have prenup and the family is pressuring you to do so.
In a normal situation, your fiance hopefully should agree that getting a business is better for your marriage wellbeing and justifies a prenup.

But yeah that just depends on your situation.

If you don't trust yourself our your wife don't get married. I'm married without a prenup, was already at 7 figures when I did. I trust my wife, she trusts me, I know her hearth, she's not a prostitute so I'm ok with if we ever divorce she should have the house. So If you don't feel like this for the other person, don't fricking marry. Marriage is you are a team of two, you should talk about everything, share everything. Of course sometimes I do mongers but I like to thing it as my double life and never carry an emotion, or anything (even a hair) from there to my family life. Good luck.

It only makes sense to get married nowadays if you’re marrying up into money. I married a cougar and got a free house out of it, yet I still make over twice her income. If I get rugged, I’ll be fine.

OP on the other hand sounds like he’s got everything to lose and nothing to gain, put your foot down and demand a prenup or don’t get married. Tell her it’s for protecting the future children by preserving the integrity of the business. What’s yours is yours and what’s hers is hers and if she can’t agree to that then she isn’t the one blah blah.

AFAIK inheritance isn't taken as distributable in a divorce. At least not in my non-pozzed country.

If it's put into a shared account, or any piece of it is used/spent towards the marriage it becomes a marital asset. Prenups help define what is and isn't a marital asset, and can protect the couple in two ways. It protects the person with the inheritance, in that is keeps the partner from having a large monetary incentive to divorce, and it also protects the couple in that it keeps greedy family members from whispering into the spouses ear about divorcing for money. Weeds them right the frick out matter of fact. You can come back and tell prying family that your spouses inheritance is protected and they shut right up.

Realistically though how hard would it be for OP to "hide" their assets in crypto? What happens if you open a wallet under any random name, do some transactions to make it look organic, and over time transfer to it. Then if someone asks you can just say you aren't the owner of that random wallet

I know exchanges are more tied to your person but is it that impossible to finangle this? Like open a bunch of monero wallets over a month and send to each of them pretending you blew it all on drugs
