Laptop Buying guide

I got £1k. What laptop (new) should I buy.
I am not into stinkpads. all my stinkpads used/new felt like cheap fragile machines.
Requirements:
>no overheat
>preferably >=16 gigs of ram
>good battery life on linux.
>non soldered storage
>uhhk my old mobo has pcie 3 x 4 or something… ik there are better ones so at least nvme pcie 5 or something.
i don’t know if intel or amd is better or if i should get an integrated/dedicated card. i wouldn’t mind a bit of gayming but i got a desktop for that anyway.

            doesn't really suite OP's case, but they're god tier media consumption machines. Really good display and speakers especially compared to the competition. Can't forget about the battery life either. Had a family member get one and I was fairly impressed for what it was. They definitely know their audience.

            Recieved 50 rupee for this post btw

    2019 legion might be your best bet strong machines with full linux support, great io and what you're looking for. Get a lower skew and upgrade it yourself for cheap

    On topic:
    I need a small light (preferably 14 inch) laptop with a Nvidia GPU and 32 GB of ram.
    Seems like the Zephyrus g14 (2023/2024) might be my only option but that mf is expensive

      ProBook or Latitude with an Nvidia GPU + upgradeable RAM. Don't go too old on the machine or you have to tolerate a 1366x768 screen, 1080p 14" screens do exist and aren't rare, but 768p is still too common for the modern day, in my opinion.

    I literally bought OP's pic related but last year's model this past week.
    It costs 2400€ tho, 3200€ without the heavy discount I picked it up on.
    It unironically works fairly grat on linux once you install the asusctl thing, I've had the tuf a15 full amd and half the shit didn't work right and ultimately returned it, but this one only has some weird shit with the nvidia drivers not picking the screens correctly for some reason, and for shit like this I continue to hate novideo products, not a single problem with my AMD desktop.
