Linux bros, we need to hurry up

>Windows 10 support ends on the 14th of October 2025.

By that time, we need to get fully work distro, and i mean fully work on every machine, even with Nvidia GPU and Wayland.

Nvidia gpu wayland support is ready to be merged in a few months. Truth is anyone can move from windows as long as they avoid Gnome

      >as long as they avoid Gnome
But GNOME is forced as the default on almost everything.

There's nothing WE need to do. Linux is as functional as any other OS outside of active negligence and sabotage that is beyond the control of anyone working on it, often because the company in question would prefer to have users who do not adjust their workflow or software, simply because their business model is based on having a proprietary workflow that doesn't play nice with others.
Nvidia in particular would prefer to keep their current market segmentation strategy and doing something like providing open source drivers would heavily undermine that. There are already ways to enable vGPU on certain consumer cards that use the right chips, imagine if you could use those vGPU features without paying an enterprise subscription.

GNOME may be the default but it's trivially easy to change during installation or remove and replace.
This is only an issue with people who are so braindead that they can only learn things through advertisement.

The explicit sync issue xwayland applications still stutter depending on the system and they are about to merge the fix

Yes and the results have been a disaster. Most sane users will use anything but gnome but gnome is pretty much a bloated corpse atm

What's the problem with gnome? Works great on both laptops and desktops.

Resource hungry piece of shit that has a alienating UI that doesn't mesh well with people transitioning from windows or MAC. Why do you think valve decided to not use it and why fedora is trying to remove it as the default UI?

People switching from macOS would feel right at home in GNOME. Have you ever used a Mac?

But Gnome is not really much like macOS. It lacks a global menu bar, a constant on the Mac since the earliest release.

It lacks the global menu bar, but it has a Dock and heavily relies on the Exposé feature (that they copied from macOS).

            into the trash
taskbar came out in 1995 and is still perfect
this is why Cinnamon is perfect straight out of the box
and Linux Mint is by far the premier distro
and Gayland support is already in testing
not that it matters, you have to go out of your way to have any issues with xorg

Whatever floats your boat. I would support GNOME's existence even if I wasn't using it, cause competition is good.

Wayland support definitely matters if you want Linux to not fall behind the other OSes when it comes to graphics.

And wintoids will keep using it until the software stops working and then switch to windows 13, and rinse and repeat.

Why should we bother catering to wingays? They had over ten years to jump ship, or at least plan to by buying compatible hardware, and they haven't.

Looks like the Wayland + Nvidia situation is about to get resolved cause explicit sync is now getting support from the main Wayland compositors.

It's the fact that Nvidia's driver uses explicit sync that we've seen glitches on those GPUs. Linux has traditionally used implicit sync, but now the situation has changed.

If you didn't switch after 7 ended then you will continue to suck that dick till they finish. Just install Windows 11 asap so you can keep gargling cum and telling everyone still on Windows 10 how they are baby ducks or some shit.
