that's just how macos functions. if you didn't spend thousands of dollars extra for more than 8gb of RAM then macos also reduces the lifespan of the SSD due to constant writing of virtual ram.

This, and if you're too poor to afford more than the pathetic 256GB of storage on the base model, they'll ship you an extremely slower storage chip just because you're poor, and poor people ain't welcome at the applel cult.

So I was right claiming that the entry level version of Apple computers are not really meant to be used and their only purpose is to make them look less expensive in comparison tables. People told me I was dumb and 8GB on MacOS was like 16GB on Windows and Linux.

The kernel is FOSS if you want to improve it.

hmm sounds like spotlight is indexing.
    Try disabling it.

    "it's not a bug, it's a feature"

But yeah, low end macs don't feel as snappy as they were 15 years ago

Why is it using swap memory when 6gb is free.

What is the default swappiness in macos? You might be able to change it.

Why is WindowServer using 1.8 GB? Such a garbage OS.

Probably it has the VRAM memory included. Though, when I run nvidia-smi on my Linux desktop with KDE, I see just 800MB VRAM usage, Applel having huge skill issues lol

No, just the default macOS swapiness is very high. If you can fill 60% of the memory, it will start swapping

the WindowServer thing is a moronic bug

use btop or htop and you'll see it's actually not using that much memory

idk what kernel_task is but probably will go away if you reboot

It is saying CPU usage, not memory

true but I think the bugs are related since other system monitors show different ram usage
I just stopped using activity monitor and use btop instead

Last 5 major updates have cucked the OS so much. No benefit in them unless you like jumping between your Mac and IPad 1 second faster like regard.

Are you sure you're up to date? There was a version of macOS that leaked memory like a submarine screen door, but it was usually a random process that got hit (not always kernel). I believe it has been fixed. I don't see this on any of my machines.
