How does Bryan Johnson do this, guys? I'm only a third in but he is genuinely one of the most creative thinkers of our time

He spends millions of dollars studying how to extend human life and health and releases much of his findings for free.

Don't really get why this is anything but commendable.

He's not doing anything out of the ordinary. All the supplements he's taking are well known, and his n = 1 self-experiment isn't really useful for science.

I'm gonna be completely honest with you. I don't like him because of how he looks and his mannerisms. Whenever he opens his mouth I'm stuck by a feeling I'm listening to someone very dumb. He also looks really unpleasant. That is all.

This book doesn't seem to be what i expected it to be: a list of suggestions with scientific explanation for why of what to do or not do in order to increase your life span. It is a play where main characters are different sides of human psyche having philosophical conversations.

    https://theanarchistlibrary.org/library/ted-kaczynski-the-techies-wet-dreams

    > The techies may answer that even if almost all biological species are eliminated eventually, many species survive for thousands or millions of years, so maybe techies too can survive for thousands or millions of years. But when large, rapid changes occur in the environment of biological species, both the rate of appearance of new species and the rate of extinction of existing species are greatly increased.[22] Technological progress constantly accelerates, and techies like Ray Kurzweil insist that it will soon become virtually explosive;[23] consequently, changes come more and more rapidly, everything happens faster and faster, competition among self-propagating systems becomes more and more intense, and as the process gathers speed the losers in the struggle for survival will be eliminated ever more quickly. So, on the basis of the techies' own beliefs about the exponential acceleration of technological development, it's safe to say that the life-expectancies of human-derived entities, such as man-machine hybrids and human minds uploaded into machines, will actually be quite short. The seven-hundred year or thousand-year life-span to which some techies aspire[24] is nothing but a pipe-dream.

    https://vitrifyher.wordpress.com/2018/11/23/how-to-not-die/

    >First of all, restrict existence to all computable processes. Within that multiverse, there are many instances of being (qualia, experience, consciousness). For all instances of being, there exists a certain subjective quality.

    >Due to relativity of simultaneity, time arises in the computations and not in the fundamental physics of the universe.

    >This means that the subjective quality of time serves a survival role. When the subjective quality of pink circle arises, it serves a survival role. The universe doesn’t attach identities to particular brains. Particular brains are not ontologically unitary objects. So it would be a mystery why I don’t experience a blue circle if an indeterminate amount of processing in the past light cone of “my brain” was for blue and for circle. Yet it is only the processing distributed in spacetime that codes for pink that binds with circle.

    >What is experienced is always what is adaptive. There is no ontologically unitary brain ticking forward through a sequential path. So whatever experiences do become atemporally integrated into being (experience, qualia, consciousness) are not random. There is some mechanism by which this is determined.

    >Unless we imagine that quantum mechanics only applies to some separate magisterium of small things, as far as we know, the probability distribution that governs what we observe is the squared moduli of the universal wavefunction. Denying macroscopic decoherence is contrary to Occam’s Razor and experimental evidence continues to accumulate for superposition of ever larger objects.

    >The only way to derive the squared modulus of the wavefunction as that which should govern our anticipation is by applying the behavior of a rational Bayesian agent in Hilbert Space. Otherwise, there would be no reason to anticipate one result in infinity as opposed to any other result in infinity.

Hapas must truly experience constant existential dread. Blessed with Asian intelligence but deprived of their bugmen soullessness that normally prevents them from being anything more then a cog in a machine, yet still not nearly white enough to become an individual, only to recognize your wretched place and the fact you can do nothing about it. What a way to live.

    >About the Author

    >Zero was the first individual H. sapiens to surpass five hundred years of age. He
died in 2478, hit by Earth’s last bus in operation, only weeks before becoming
homosexual Deus. During his life, Zero fathered millions of biological and digital
offspring who now live in the far reaches of the solar system and beyond. Best
known for inventing Zeroism and the resurrection technology undie, Zero
famously raised his detractors from the dead so he could tell them that he had
    outlived them.

    >Zero’s ancestor, Bryan Johnson, was born in twentieth-century USA. Johnson
left his religious upbringing and built the payments company Braintree Venmo,
which sold to PayPal for eight hundred million dollars in 2013. He subsequently
became a pioneering entrepreneur and investor in the fields of synthetic
biology, nanotechnology, brain interfaces, and longevity. Johnson became the
most biologically measured person in history through his Project Blueprint and
created the global movement DON’T DIE that sowed the seeds for human,
    planetary and AI alignment.
