I wouldn't worry too much. Like the other guy said, get a reputable tax advisor who knows about crypto and go from there. Not to be a bootlicker, but trying to game the system is a losing battle.

Got in crypto early 2017, while studying in TU Delft. Made lots of money first bullrun, completely killed my motivation to finish degree. currently have 3 exams left. They are next week so i should be studying, but scrolling twitter and biz instead for alpha. portofolio is over $3 million now. never declared any on my taxes, and at this point i'm to scared to start. don't know a good plan for cashing out yet. might go to HK, to do it there. and then come back after 5 years or something.

i assume you not Dutch. we don't pay tax on trades. we essentially have a wealth tax for all investments where you pay approx 1.5% over what you where worth on paper for that year. Regarding of loss or profit. For me this is already more than 300k over the last 7 years. i paid nothing ofcourse, so don't know how state will react when i say oopsie i forgot.
The longer you wait with declaring your assets, the bigger your problem will become.
In a couple of years MICA will go in force and crypto exchanges will be forced to report all assets and transactions to every European tax authority, including backwards in time, just like banks and regular brokers.

You can adjust previous years, but depending on size and circumstances you may have to pay a fine.
The fine will be bigger if they have to find out themselves.

When u plan on opening a business, do it in NL, but as soon as some serious money flows through it also invest to lower ur taxbill. Theres entire companies helping small businesses with this shit nowadays.

Nobody knows what the 2027 tax rules are going to be because the rule isn't finalized yet.
No such thing as crypto-to-crypto tax here. It's a fixed percentage over a fictional yearly return. It was designed for boomer investment like bonds or index funds. You still pay peanuts even if you hit it big in crypto.

Thing is they take like 2% each year, no matter if u had a good or bad year. Over time this adds up, so u need to use some tricks to lowball this. For crypto its actually pretty great, but as soon as u want some lower risk stock etfs that type of shaving every year, up or down, has a big influence on your returns. And yes in 2027 things will change but knowing dutch politics its prob gonna be 2030+ with court cases attached or some political crisis
