Here are some snippets from Goodreads reviews:
      >rep: Chinese-coded cast & setting, disabled bi mc, bi mcs, polyamory
      >Villains can be defeated, though, and Wu Zetian takes great pleasure in cutting every impersonation of misogyny down, both in a literal, physical sense & by breaking societal norms
      >In reality, just like Wu Zetian, both Li Shimin and Gao Yizhi will fight to the death for what they believe in. It’s no wonder then that all of them fall in love with each other. And it’s not simply a case where we get a polyamorous relationship at the very end, just to avoid a love triangle. Instead, it all happens naturally. Each of the characters falls for the other two at their own pace, and even more importantly: they talk about the implications of loving more than one person. There is no jealousy, but instead one boy gently explaining how Wu Zetian loving someone else as well, doesn’t mean she loves him any less

      >Polyam instead of love triangles in YA? We stan. The rest of the story left alot to be desired though

      >there was romance in here but it was definitely a sub-plot. the main focus was Zetain’s badassery. but polyamory in YA ?!? wow that was refreshing

      >Screaming, shaking, shitting my pants, crying, and losing my mind over this book. I came for the polyamorous and stayed for the absolute mind blowingly crafted world that is the Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao
      You get it

Polyamory isn't bad in itself, it's only bad when it isn't one man with multiple women.

      It's 2 guys and a girl

Are the dudes banging or not? Are the scenes explicit?

Calm down Mrs. Xiran Jay Zhao. There are people who might not enjoy your books. I still can't accept polyamory and that's why I won't read it
          >It’s an alien “isekai” culture
Irrelevant. Would you accept reading a book with bestiality if it was not explicit and practiced by an "isekai" culture?

reminder that we've actually come full circle, the abrahamic religions all practiced polyamory, then it got banned for being perceived as misogynist, and now it's cool again

Modern China is garbage however hence why so many leave. People left the old country because the old country sucked. Now the people who lacked the balls to leave pretend that cowardice amounts to some kind of virtue. In reality the new worlders are just superior to their lesser troglodytic brethren due to the mixed method approach to life that contact with other cultures bring. A new worlder has nothing to learn from the old world while the old world would be wise to learn from their betters.

polyamory in any modern book is almost always going to be stupid and just an excuse for some character to be a total prostitute. only time this wouldn't be the case was if it was based off some religious practice or historical thing that happened, but even then it most likely gets hit with the zoomer ray and loses all meaning. it just sets a bad example for the youth. my nephew goes to high school and he was telling me about his girlfriend who had been reading all this chick flick YA bullshit and was trying to convince him into letting her have a polyamorous relationship. he pretty adamantly refused but found out not too much later that she had already had a polyamorous "relationship" with half the seniors at that school while they were going out. suffice to say he wasn't too ok with it.

Polyamory is peak degeneracy and goes against God’s perfect design for human sexuality. Libs are going straight into the fiery pit.

This is my favorite one. This is supposed to be an alternative history to 600's China, and it feels like it was written in the modern era with no research or care of the past. Even the language they speak sounds modern.

The dialogue isn't 'really' in English anyway, it's presumably 'actually' in Middle Chinese and what we're reading is a translation anyway. Do you want it should be in 600s-era English? That would be completely incomprehensible to modern readers.

      >chinese

Apparently it originates from Chinese mythology:
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nine-tailed_fox
None of this is to say this book as a whole is necessarily good; it probably still sucks. But if you're going to criticize it, at least make criticisms that are based in reality and make sense.
