Gay orgies are a bunch of men smearing each other's shit into each other's buttholes. One wiener goes into one butthole and gets fecal residue on it, then goes into another butthole and transmits the feces around. People wonder why they tend to get sick and come down with various diseases.

If you've read Casanova you'd know it was everywhere in the courts.

It's actually amusing. He spends most of the first half of his memoirs talking about how this is the one carnal vice he'll never stoop to, even mentioning that the castrati he wooed was only because he was under the belief 'he' was actually a girl, but then goes on to frick some little Russian boy court-climber without any qualms whatsoever.

Desu, It's interesting how he notes it in his chapter about how a prince shouldn't wantonly sow his oats with other men's wives (or sons), and how a particular male-male rape occasioned a blood feud.

Before I'd read Machi I never knew this, but presumed the paederastic tradition perished in Italy with Rome, or at least the actual, not literary part of it. I suppose that's one of the principal paths which brought it into Elizabethan England, too.

Not exactly true. Homosexualty was always considered a sin in nations following the abrahamic religions. But its true it was only from like the medieval period on it was really a punishable sin.

It was rife in most ancient societies and many early modern ones as well. Even still it was generally not socially accepted openly at least, especially being the receiving gay and not the penetrator. I would imagine it was a tolerated but disreputable vice, kind of like rich 55 year olds banging 19 year old sugar babies is today

France is not indicative of wider cultural trends in the world. France was the most liberal and progressive nation in the 1800s and basically suicided their great power status by implementing inheritance reforms and fricking it’s birthrates and demographics. This trend was only reversed in the interwar period where they banned abortions and contraception.
If you look at a lot of famous French politicians, artists, scientists ect before WWI a lot of them didn’t have children, it is bizarre. Also, the reason why homosexuality was looked down upon is because by accepting homosexuality you are accepting that the function of sex isn’t reproduction, which creates sexually promiscuous and hedonistic societies.

It wasn’t after the Napoleonic Era during the religious backlash of the Victorian Era, really. It was considered normal during Shakespearean times, I think King James had an affair with the Duke of Buckingham and said something like Jesus had his John, and everyone laughed. The Puritan backlash of the English civil war changed this. And the Christian Continental backlash after Napoleon
