That doesnt mean they should prioritize a corporation over normal users, because there's no difference between the two from their point of view.

anon, human interactions are rarely a zero sum game. making them lose doesn't mean you win.
in one situation you win a bit and they win a lot, in the other one they lose a lot and you win a bit. they're hardly comparable, but from your standpoint it makes no sense to go for the one where you lose

            Anonymous

Lose what exactly? Fake money that can be printed on a whim? By rejecting to fix the bug on their terms you gain power that is worth way more than $2k. Your choice has a direct impact on an operation of a large corporation. How many stocks would you have to buy to have same level of influence? By not fixing the bug you can make them miss the deadline or even waste their time on implementing workarounds, which means less development time on other features and missed goals. Considering how much time I've wasted dealing with Microsoft's bullshit I would be more than happy to stall any fixes for as long as possible. They aren't humans, they're soulless corporations that would be more than happy to kill you if it means more profits (they don't care about money at this point anyways, it's all about power over people).

it sure is cool to have ideals but you can't pay with ideals at the supermarket

i get your point, the whole point is to frick them over and further your cause a bit, but you could perfectly charge them $2K for bug fixing, some more for whatever consulting they need, giving them the bare minimum AND then frick them over though malicious compliance while still keeping the code free.
you're too stuck on the "if they lose i win!!!!!" midwit cope

            Anonymous

It's not a human interaction. It's a multibilliondollar corporation trying to compel an action out of a real person, carrot and stick at the ready.
Being able to tell the egregore to frick off, even if it means you lose as much as it does, is what makes someone human. You degrade and dehumanize yourself every time you let some inhuman entity use you as an appendage.

Everything that is posted on the internet by some VIP or corpo is NOT human interaction and is only doing putting corporation profits before human rights.
Thus everyone included in said exchange -which is not the corporation- is morally obliged to treat such interactions with contempt

the fact that they make more money out of your bufgix doesn't change any of this.
            >treat such interactions with contempt
i'm not saying it's morally right, but you can always charge them money and still sabotage them.

unironically based, pajeets are very useful it's just low iq diversity hires not know how to utilize them properly. they have no imagination, they have no higher end skills, and they have no opinions or backbones. You just need to treat them as very useful mules, like egyptians had slaves, and then point them in the right codemonkey direction to get the tedious boring low end slop done. You can consider them like AI generated NPCs that can only do very straightforward instructions

My reason #1 for not using systemd is that it's a single point of failure.
    https://doublepulsar.com/inside-the-failed-attempt-to-backdoor-ssh-globally-that-got-caught-by-chance-bbfe628fafdd
    >So what can we do? First of all, if you rely on any software, you have a risk of insider threat. Be it open source, closed source, or your own in house developers — if people add backdoors and nobody notices, that’s a problem.

    >Secondly, a core issue here is systemd in Linux. libsystemd is linked to all systemd servies, which opens a rich attack surface of third party services to backdoor. That is what the threat actor abused here. It mean they didn’t need to backdoor systemd, which has a rich development community paying attention — instead they relied on liblzma loading XZ, which is much further down the chain, where nobody was paying attention.

This thread is exactly what Microsoft wanted. It's not about actually trying to throw a few Gs at the freechads and trying to get them to do work for them. It's about insulting the entire free software community and making incendiary culture war trash continue amongst the people in this thread and others like it all over the internet.

The Linux people know this. They're publishing the insult because they want to take the bull by the horns. Meet the challenge head-on, because they actually believe in what they're doing. It's cynicism vs principle.

what are you talking about, "the linux people" have been bowing down to corporations for long time now. They bought the whole "MS loves linux" shit almost immediately.
Just check how much software in under corporate friendly licenses and how much of them actually develop on github exclusively. If they wanted respect then they will make paying for priority the norm.

First you seize the means of production through the revolution then you implement the dictatorship of the proletariat. Then if there is still a need you create Free software. Because in a real communist society there is much less need for computers and enslaving software like (anti)social media and ai therefore much less need for "free" and "open sores" software. Computers and scientific software will be needed only by scientists and state owned universities for scientific purposes and to send comrades to Mars and beyond to spread communism all over the Galaxy.

The reason microshit's ask is taboo is because large companies pay software maintainers for enterprise support. Long-term contributors often get a decent sum of money. Opening a support ticket with "urgent" on it is some real amateur hour shit. If you want "urgent" support, get a fricking business agreement.

Here, let me write it for you.
The xz fiasco has shown how a dependence on unpaid volunteers can cause major problems."
          This is true.
Because it is a volunteer thing. anyone can contribute to the code with any intention.
And people are not "motivated" to do thorough inspection or even care to fix stuff.
          Money is the motivator.
So this whole doing for free shit exposes who vulnerable the whole eco system of free and open source system really is.

Oh well, I explained it for you.

I hope now you understand the meaning of that particular sentence.

This has nothing to do with security issue. This was them not knowing how to use ffmpeg gay.

The ffmpeg thing was literally them not reading the fricking release notes that the command line args changed slightly.

I hate this board so damn much. You all suck.

There's just no fricking way that the real Elon adviced some Microsoft suits on how to use CLI commands.
This is just a psyop to make us believe that he knows his way around a terminal and that he tinker with FOSS in his free time.
