So is actually this worth getting now? It's a 1st gen panel but its only $799. I only care about playing games and watching movies on it. No work or productivity so not really care about the color fringing/text clarity with the pixel layout. They apparently have new firmware to address the OLED care issues too and giving 3 year burn in warranty as well.
I wouldn't buy something that burns in after 3 years. I've had my monitor for 5 years and paid the same. I wouldn't have bought if it wasn't going to last
Hey moron, LCD panels still decay.
https://www.rtings.com/tv/tests/longevity-burn-in-test-updates-and-results
>LCD panels still decay.
>It's been about ten months since we started our long-term accelerated longevity and burn-in test, and our 100+ TVs and Monitors have cumulated over half a million hours of runtime.
>there is some wear and tear after running the displays constantly, at max brightness, for 10 months STRAIGHT
shocker
Problem is you morons use these exact tests to b***h about OLED burn-in, when in reality, you're not going to get noticeable burn-in for years unless you use the display irresponsibly.
why bother dealing with the issue in the first place? Why do you care so much? Are you a shill?
>LCD decay is OK!
>OLED decay is NOT OK!
You morons are just boring.
It only decays if you're running it at full blast forever. OLEDs are inherently flawed with a burn in problem that leds don't have
>It only decays if you're running it at full blast forever
Blatantly false, idiot. The LCDs in those tests aren't pushed any harder than the OLEDs.
regular people have issues with burn in. If your display needs software to desperatly mititgate some issue then it's a meme. I really don't care that you spent $2k on some meme display and now you're angry on the internet trying to convince yourself that there won't be a problem in the future. Enjoy your burn in
No, that's just morons like yourself insisting there is an issue when there really isn't one.
enjoy your burn in
>4-5 years with the best looking monitor possible
vs
>8+ years with a piece of shit
If you're poor then option 2 is much better, if you're not then option 1 is not only better but by the time you get a new monitor the new OLED models will have such good burn-in mitigation that they'll last even longer. There's a reason people buy them even though they're aware of burn-in, they're just that superior. People who buy them for productivity are fricking up, though.
>If you don't waste money on electronics garbage you're poor
I just feel bad for you people
I don't actually
>you're holding it wrong
>just turn down the brightness bro
>just use a screensaver bro
>just set your taskbar to autohide bro
>just do <insert random shit no worthwhile display technology would need to be usable>
OLEDgays are the ultimate consoomer cucks
>just turn down the brightness bro
no one with an OLED actually says this
>just use a screensaver bro
>just set your taskbar to autohide bro
it is responsible to do this but it is a good trade off for the picture quality you get
You are a complete idiot.
>If I run a display at full brightness for 2 years straight it doesn't work anymore.
wow anon who cares. I've had displays last over 10 years without issue
Protip: your CPU will stop working one day. Your motherboard WILL break.
The difference is lifespan and worry free ownership. Charging more for less won't win over people who are more responsible.
Gullible zoomers are really paying $800 for a meme monitor while I've been sitting here on my $190 46" 4K LED TV for 3 years
Do zoomzooms really fall for this meme?
>TV
enjoy your latency
So what you're saying is yes, you really are that gullible, spending thousands of dollars because of some shit you saw on Linus Tech Tips
You are such a good little boy, put on your collar and sit down
this isn't thousands of dollars. $800 for an OLED gaming monitor. The 2 year old Dell one is now $779. But this MSI one is using same panel but with HDMI 2.1 and OLED care 2.0. Seems like a better buy.
>he is too low iq to perceive latency therefore others can't
lol
OLED isn't a meme considering it's been around for almost 10 years. Basically I could call your 46" 4K a meme too.
kek I've been using the same monitor for almost 15 years now, why would I upgrade
>qd-oled instead of woled
>ultrawide
its trash
It's $799. The WOLED versions are MATTE and over $1000. I would say MATTE WOLED is even trashier. Ultrawode is good for somethings. But curved is trash.
correction, the WOLEDs are over $1300..
optimum himself said matte and glossy look the same. that aside the gray blacks in daylight and the purple tint on qd-oleds look like shit
Still inferior to CRTs
Wrong, CRTs are inferior choice for nearly every use case.
>>CRT-gay
Only hipster zoomers and nostalgia-gays say otherwise
Wrong, CRTs are superior choice for nearly every use case.
>>LCD-gay
Only consumerist gays say otherwise
>only 400 cd/m for HDR
AKA: no real HDR (needs to be 1000 cd/m to be actual HDR)
OLED screens have a different standard now which makes sense since they have basically infinite contrast.
DisplayHDR True Black for OLED vs DisplayHDR for non-OLED
The DisplayHDR True Black 400 is equivalent DisplayHDR 1000.
And this monitor is actually capable 1000 nits at 2% window in HDR if you change the mode in the OSD. Actually all the current OLED ones from 2022 and on are apparently. And the new 2024 LG ones do 1300 nits due to using the MLA+ tech.
>I dont want burn in
>i want to be blinded by brightness
you cannot have both.
Yes you can, see OLED TVs
if you use them with moronic high brightness in a desktop enviroment you will get burn in.
dont know why this is so hard for people to understand, the harder you push a display the quicker it will die.
This is true for any self emitting display, crt plasma oled and whatever else might exist.
the candle that burns twice as bright burns out the quickest.
no you cannot fix this fundamental flaw in the laws of the universe
You're a brainlet who doesn't understand the concept of HDR
no one is using a display with fullscreen brightness at 1000 cd/m you tech illiterate homosexual
It has to do with brightness range for HDR content for things like specular reflection and so on
Your post is worth less than a dog shit smeared piece of toilet paper
UI in games and programs is very often white over black.
so it really doesnt matter if its 1000 nits fullscreen or not.
cap your oled to 100 nits and it will last longer
That too is a solved problem
Ever heard of live sports or news banners? OLED TVs detect those automatically and have multiple ways of preventing burn in
This has been solved for years now
well dont cry on g when you get burn in in a few months
Just admit that you're talking out of your obese ass you tech illiterate moron
running high brightness on an oled is what gets you burn in.
even if peak 1000 nits rarely get reached.
higher nits= more burn and no amount of coping will change that
Once again you demonstrate the fact that you don't have a single clue what you're talking about
Stop acting like a tech illiterate moron
All of these problems have been solved for years
please explain how the problem of LEDs degrading faster when you run more power through them has been solved.
since it would be the biggest jump in LEDs since the invention of the blue LED surely it would be talked about everywhere right?
Read up on oled innovations and breakthroughs on your own time you mouth breathing dummy
I'm not your dad
good morning saar
oled looks barely different and burns in within a year
never buying one again frick off shills
OP you might want to wait just a little bit, at the end of the month MSI is releasing the upgraded version of that ultrawide with 240hz and the newest generation of QD-OLED. It'll be more expensive though but anyone buying these kinds of monitors isn't a poorgay to begin with.
Yeah, that's the rub. But they will probably be starting at $1100-1200 range and probably be in short supply too. That's like 40% price premium. My original budget was only $800. Was gonna pick up a 27" 2K normal OLED but saw this one for just $799.
OLED is far better than "QLED".
I just want a oled version of the aw38. Its perfect. But they keep pumping out these 34 inches with absurd refresh rates.
I'd buy a mini LED if they weren't atrociously expensive
>mini led
Not all mini LEDs are made the same. For example my 16" MacBook has 10,216 LEDs
mini led is an overpriced shit technology that is attempting to mimic oled which it knows is superior in almost every way in regards to gaming(which I am willing to bet OP is looking for)
if you care about general desk top use and static work just get an affordable 60hz ips.
>tone mapped HDR image to depict something your eyes don't perceive
Go choke on a hdmi cable homosexual
>miniled
>memewide
Get that shit outta here.
I don't care about burn in that's not gonna happen because I don't use full brightness every day with static images, I'm more concerned about the reported flicker that occurs with VRR.
moronic pixel layout
bad motion clarity
pwm dimming
no thanks.
My XG2431 died and it's on for warranty. Been using a friends 27" IPS from 2016. Response times are dogshit but whatever, the bigger problem is that 27" is far too big and everything is far too sharp (though TAA can't be disabled in nu-games).
I've found myself playing at 1080p with NVIDIA sharpening.
What gives? It's been a week now.
QD-OLED is yet more untested samsung catch-up cope
you WILL get burn-in, you WILL get flickering, you WILL have dogshit peak brightness
WOLED or don't bother
I'm in the market for a new TV, anyone wanna shill me or discourage me from going for an OLED?
After months of looking into monitors, I've come to the conclusion that every option sucks and there is no true winner in the debate.
There's no perfect display as of yet. OLED however is the best option. 1440p@165hz for budget, OLED for the high end. You shouldn't consider anything else.
>You shouldn't consider anything else.
is 4k a meme then?
>1440p above 500 dollars
Considering anything but 4k for that money is moronic.
>qd-oled
Not worth it
>OLED
>monitor
moron
