See if you can get a local place to buy physical copies. My town has two local bookstores that'll buy a dozen copies and stick them under the local shelf. if they sell they buy more. The authors usual do events when the downtown area has high foot traffic usual easter or some other federal holiday.

Think of it this way, that one person who bought your book did it because he found your logline interesting. So interesting in fact that they spent actual money to read what you had to say. What you write is valuable to that someone. It will help them escape whatever shit they're dealing with. They found a sanctuary in the world that you created.

People buy stuff based on marketing, not content. If they think it will make them fulfilled or happy or add something to their life then they will buy it. This utilizes the slimy practice of convincing people they need things outside themselves to be happy, and since we've already been turned out by society, we're more than happy to play the whole. You accomplished something and you're disappointed because your metric was sales. Write to write, publish to share, let go of this other nonsense. Be free my brother.

            IQfy should allow self promotion

I didn't expect Lynch to become so much of my writing, but all the Japanese games that came after twin peaks had me before he did.

NTA. IQfy isn't, by nature, amenable to self promotion. Instead of reddit dick sucking and a culture where mods promote it for better and worse (because some of them get a cut or other bennies), we get zine gossip threads and petty e-drama. The culture and format just doesn't favor identity and what comes with it and "fame". It still happens, just not on IQfy. I think the pond is too small for big fish.

And the safety concerns and how transparent and obnoxious shilling can be are very legitimate.

brave. I woulnd't put my shit on IQfy. I would be afraid some c**t would go out of his way to frick with me.

you need to get reviews. there are services that generate reviews, or trade reviews.

fiction seems hard to make any money if you aren't pushing smut. idk.

Genre and eclectic crossovers do well on Amazon. The e-reader audience is captive and a bunch of paypigs for the most part.

No one is going to shell out more and $1-$2 for a book my some nobody that doesn't even exceed 100 pages. At this point I just want people to read them for personal enjoyment and if it buys me a pack of cigarettes on the side I'm okay with that.

It would have benefitted from an editor and more time cooking. There's a very strong narrative, but I don't know if it's on the level of paid work as is. The police interactions were off-putting in how unrealistic they were and that was the weakest point. The rest you can sort of buy into, but as an occultnik, the details of all the satanism were off and it would have been better to make something up. Some black metal idiot taking it all the wrong way was on point, but all the big names like the Temple of Set (rather pacifist and a bit of a psyop) and O9A (now a honeypot for who knows how many decades now) preach immortality, annihilation is the default state. It's the little details people always miss.

Lullaby by Palahninuk also comes to mind. Perhaps a bit too much. Still, not bad for a dollar in store credit.

Thanks my friend. I actually thought of that as well. I only have a surface level understanding of Satanism and I thought that would reflect in the characters who are "edgy" teens trying to be, well, edgy. They're just angsty kids and not really that well versed in the works of Crowley.

I sent the novellas out to actual publishing companies. If it gets accepted I'll let them take over. They can fix Grammarly mistakes (If there are any) but I'm not a fan of nixing stuff entirely, especially when the novel is only 100 pages to begin with.

Novellas don't sell. Voidwalker is a short story that could be edited down to fit into a horror anthology, the other one is miles above it and could probably be fleshed out into a proper novella, but I haven't read much so I don't want to comment other than that.

It's a fricked market that never recovered from the death of print media.

            Anonymous

Although, I should say that novellas don't sell well under the traditional model, due to traditional model forces and whims. I think the current digital model may actually prefer them, and allow for an older format of stories that fell out of the market by the 70s, cheap pulp fiction of various quality. I've been reading some earlier noir and the "novels" in the LoA collections are short. Read any industry talk from the past 40 years and writers have been b***hing about arbitrary requirements for length that ballooned out of control, read forums and you see constant complaints about how padded out novels are.

Personally, I find that the novel length of ~250+ pages dilutes what could be a tighter story that doesn't have the scope of a novel and doesn't benefit from it. You also run into classification concerns, but I have my own biases between what constitutes a long novella and short novel that have little to do with word count.

You'll probably end up with some kind of brief algo preference and get some views. I think the only kindle books I've bought were from a spooky Romanian cartomancer with a doctorate in English literature, so who knows who they will target. I can tell the 'zon is scraping my cookies on here from my phone because of recommended lists, and if I weren't an extreme outlier it wouldn't be terrible, so trendsetters outside the market have entered the chat.

I know how youtube handles my likes and what that means, so expect some results.

Won't know till we know the sales numbers.
It's kinda impressive you jumped like 3k, but that doesn't mean much to me it could have been 5 guys or 100 that bought.

It says I have 10 sales which equals to about $4 in royals.

That can't be right. I know of like at least 20 people who bought it.

It’s a tough business. I know a chick whose nonfiction book made the “best of” list in a major U.S. magazine for the genre she wrote in, but from a dollars and cents perspective I think she made about minimum wage for the time she spent writing it and going on tour for it. It’s a labor of love. But if you really believe in the work you’re doing, is it really a loss?

I bought a paperback copy of each of your books. Not sure how that works. (Amazon prints the physical copies?) Looking forward to checking them out. Hope they’re at least entertaining if nothing else.

          Thank you.

I hope the physical copies don't look like shit. I haven't seen them yet. If you don't like Kindle either I can always email you the PDFs. Just send me an email at [email protected] and I'll send em over.

          Cheers

    You didnt gather an audience.
    You didnt market.
    You are still not marketing.
It is dead. Move on and learn.

you're books look like unbelievable slop. Lowest common denominator shit. Like something an angsty teenager would write. Sad!

Don’t know where you get angst from. I’m 31 years old and happy. It’s noir, not angst.
