It would have benefitted from an editor and more time cooking. There's a very strong narrative, but I don't know if it's on the level of paid work as is. The police interactions were off-putting in how unrealistic they were and that was the weakest point. The rest you can sort of buy into, but as an occultnik, the details of all the satanism were off and it would have been better to make something up. Some black metal idiot taking it all the wrong way was on point, but all the big names like the Temple of Set (rather pacifist and a bit of a psyop) and O9A (now a honeypot for who knows how many decades now) preach immortality, annihilation is the default state. It's the little details people always miss.

Novellas don't sell. Voidwalker is a short story that could be edited down to fit into a horror anthology, the other one is miles above it and could probably be fleshed out into a proper novella, but I haven't read much so I don't want to comment other than that.
It's a fricked market that never recovered from the death of print media.

Although, I should say that novellas don't sell well under the traditional model, due to traditional model forces and whims. I think the current digital model may actually prefer them, and allow for an older format of stories that fell out of the market by the 70s, cheap pulp fiction of various quality. I've been reading some earlier noir and the "novels" in the LoA collections are short. Read any industry talk from the past 40 years and writers have been b***hing about arbitrary requirements for length that ballooned out of control, read forums and you see constant complaints about how padded out novels are.
Personally, I find that the novel length of ~250+ pages dilutes what could be a tighter story that doesn't have the scope of a novel and doesn't benefit from it. You also run into classification concerns, but I have my own biases between what constitutes a long novella and short novel that have little to do with word count.

>Personally, I find that the novel length of ~250+ pages dilutes what could be a tighter story that doesn't have the scope of a novel and doesn't benefit from it.
Some of the best noirs like Double Indemnity and The Postman Always rings Twice are short as hell.
I'm not really all about the money as I have a 9-5 where I bring in 70k a year. But you're right. I fricking hate instagram and all the fake influencer sutff on there.
I just would rather have it read or gain popularity. But yeah Instagram is so gay. I have a bookstagram and 90 percent of my audience are women who all share the same aesthetic of and ready smutty romance books
I can't tell becuase KDP reporter won't update which I assume means it's getting sales as we speak. I saw this in the morning. Is this good. Did I win???
You'll probably end up with some kind of brief algo preference and get some views. I think the only kindle books I've bought were from a spooky Romanian cartomancer with a doctorate in English literature, so who knows who they will target. I can tell the 'zon is scraping my cookies on here from my phone because of recommended lists, and if I weren't an extreme outlier it wouldn't be terrible, so trendsetters outside the market have entered the chat.
I know how youtube handles my likes and what that means, so expect some results.

It says I have 10 sales which equals to about $4 in royals.
That can't be right. I know of like at least 20 people who bought it.
It’s a tough business. I know a chick whose nonfiction book made the “best of” list in a major U.S. magazine for the genre she wrote in, but from a dollars and cents perspective I think she made about minimum wage for the time she spent writing it and going on tour for it. It’s a labor of love. But if you really believe in the work you’re doing, is it really a loss?
I bought a paperback copy of each of your books. Not sure how that works. (Amazon prints the physical copies?) Looking forward to checking them out. Hope they’re at least entertaining if nothing else.

Some of the best noirs like Double Indemnity and The Postman Always rings Twice are short as hell.
If you don't already have a following from social media, you will make less money on your book in a year than a single shift working at McDonald's...
Just bought a copy of each book. If they’re no good I’m gonna come chop your nuts off. Thanks!
Endlessly shill them on IQfy like everyone else
What's sales look like now?
Those are in the collections I'm talking about lel.
Won't know till we know the sales numbers.
It's kinda impressive you jumped like 3k, but that doesn't mean much to me it could have been 5 guys or 100 that bought.
amazon publishing seems bleak as frick. yeah obviously traditional publishing is also fricked but even then it still seems better than self publishing.
Thank you.
I hope the physical copies don't look like shit. I haven't seen them yet. If you don't like Kindle either I can always email you the PDFs. Just send me an email at [email protected] and I'll send em over.
Cheers
You didnt gather an audience.
You didnt market.
You are still not marketing.
It is dead. Move on and learn.
If this thread gets archived I just wanted to say thanks guys for being so supportive when no one else was.
you're books look like unbelievable slop. Lowest common denominator shit. Like something an angsty teenager would write. Sad!
Don’t know where you get angst from. I’m 31 years old and happy. It’s noir, not angst.
