      Both AMD and Nvidia are going to raise prices.

        They're now competing with last gen at rockbottom prices. It's going to be a hard sell. Chances are they'll actually lower prices.

        Yeah, but they're greedy. They got too used to this shit. I'm doubting it'll go down by that much before the end of the year at least.

    The real winners of this gen were the mobile GPU's with their amazing wattage to performance ratio.
    I wish they would focus on that that next gen because I honestly can't name a fricking thing I need running past 144hz 1440p and 60fps 4k

      Pascal is nvidia's sandy bridge. Not gonna be anything worth looking at until 2025.

      >why is shit consistently getting more expensive
      Monopoly -> pricing power
      Inflation -> pricing increase
      Crypto scarcity -> pricing increase

      >shouldn't it be the other way around?
      It should, but it isn't.

      Pascal is nvidia's sandy bridge. Not gonna be anything worth looking at until 2025.

      In a sense that, stagnation in performance was the root cause of sandybridge living for 8 years before AMD showed up. In same sense Pascal stagnated for 6+ years now within nothing to show.

      The free market system leads to the most optimal distribution of resources.
      GPUs are currently sold by official distributors at a sub-optimal price, due to abnormal market forces due to a number of extraordinary externalities relating to the COVID-19 pandemic.
      Scalpers provide a valuable service to consumers by selling goods at equilibrium price, enabling those with the greatest interest to obtain goods when at a time when they would otherwise be unavailable due to demand exceeding supply.
      Those with the greatest interest and means are more likely than others to use their GPUs for productive enterprise, and scalpers provide them a means to obtain GPUs at equilibrium price.
      Crypto miners provide a valuable service for dark money around the globe to profit from activities which are banned by overbearing central governments (a regrettable distortion of fundamental market forces leading to non-Pareto efficient distributions). By enabling money laundering and the trade of illegal good such as drugs, weapons, illicit pornography, sex slaves etc. crypto miners provide a valuable service by freeing market forces from parasitic statist institutions.
      Remember, complaining about these prices is communism and will not be tolerated.
      You have been warned.

    Nvidia is reportedly trying to reduce its chip orders from TSMC so they don't end up with tons of unsellable RTX 4000s. Except they bought so much from TSMC that the best they can do is delay the deliveries, with financial compensation from Nvidia.
    AMD apparently trying to do the same at a much lower scale.
    It's biting them in the ass.

      What baffles me is that the EXACT same shit happened last crypto boom and they thought it'd last forever. The frick did they think would happen when 90% of their GPUs sold to miners when mining stops being profitable?
