It is, but if you can't cope with a group you belong to being criticized I suppose denial is a logical response.

Not only did this moron not understand Blood Meridian, he misunderstood the OP’s point that the VDL gang should have been brutal and vicious like the Glanton Gang with a lot of moral ambiguity, instead of what we got.

IQfy loves the ackshully contrarian pose. Contrarianism and cynicism are the refuge of the midwit. IQfy is no different than bandwagoners basing their tastes off the crowd. Both sides are swayed by the coarse masses

Blood Meridian is a feminist work. The Judge is a metaphor for patriarchy.

if its their number one favourite and not just one of their favourites i imagine someone who hasnt read moby dick, paradise lost, robinson jeffers poetry or flauberts more violent and fantastical works like la légende de saint julian l'hospitalier because blood meridian is so obviously influenced by those earlier books

Influence has nothing to do with liking a book. All those titles you listed were influenced by other books as well

        Anonymous

i don't think you can point to specific influences for them that are anywhere near as obvious, so i think theyre more original. im not saying blood meridian is bad, in fact i love it. it just stands out less in the history of literature when youve read more stuff.

Blood Meridian was a satanic pedo manifesto. The only message someone who isn't part of the academic elite can get out of the book is "we (cormac mccarthy and his friends) are the judge, and you can't do anything about us".
