Say what you want about Wayland, but it is undeniably the future.

The future for what? I will continue using x11 and it will continue working. Wayland has many things that are broken by design.

No one who likes Linux likes Nvidia, including the creator of the Linux kernel himself.

nvidia unironically works better than amd on linux. I used to use nvidia until around 6 months ago and I regret switching to amd.

what particular reason do you have to use wayland over x11? i haven't met someone on a non-rh system who uses it

I have two 27" 4K 60Hz monitors connected into my 14" laptop. I need fractional scaling, so it's basically unusable with Xorg.

this answer only gives me a new question. why don't you just buy a desktop computer my friend

            Anonymous

It would still require fractional scaling.

when you open something with wine, wayland uses xwayland to do everything that x would do on its own, only with more latency, more resource use, and more dependencies. the set of "programs which are worse on wayland than on x" therefore contains the entire subset of programs which are not native to linux because wayland is little more than an unnecessary middleman if you are doing anything other than using an all-amd machine to run programs native to linux and have full wayland compatibility. the enthusiast home desktop computing space is dominated by people playing videogames, using nvidia gpus and using programs that aren't native to linux, so the vast majority of users should not use wayland

XWayland performance is equal to native X11 these days. There is no longer a significant difference.

            >performance is equal
show me your input to pixel latency testing setup. i refuse to believe the suggestion that the wayland-x-wayland-kernel pipeline has an equal latency to using x on its own. this is an absurd suggestion that requires extensive evidence to support it, it is entirely counterintuitive

You can do fractional scaling on x11. It has always been possible. It's just gtk that doesn't support it and it doesn't support it on wayland either. The same goes for per monitor scaling. Qt supports it and there is an option to enable it in kde.

Only reason I'm using it is because my new laptop has a weird display jitter issue on xorg when connecting to my TV but works OK with wayland.

what particular reason do you have to use x11 over wayland? why should x11 be the default for people?

            >I have no clue what I'm talking about but just repeat unemployed people's propaganda the post
But I understand it's the supposed privacy gamers who want to use X11. I also enjoy having every app I run being able to keylog me and record the screen without permission. And yes I really notice the 1% FPS difference in Games (as a note frame times under Wayland are significantly better than X).

You can turn off previews in Dolphin with a single click. He has them turned off.
Also funny of you to post the file manager that has far less features and is overall trash compared to Dolphin.

Side previews, individual folder view settings, folder previews, KDE Connect integration, version control extensions, better search, basically fricking everything

Only GTK file manager that even comes close to Dolphin in terms of features is Caja. Thunar is absolute garbage.
