no bullshit, no memes, give me a web browser that I can watch youtube videos on my second monitor with while I play rimworld

rimworld requires as much RAM as I can spare

k-meleon would be a no brainer if I could load it up with ublock origin and a dark theme

I have tried searching online but all I can find is opera gx gaslighting

      1. I wanna be able to open wiki in another tab
      2. actually getting more videos on the fly would be annoying doing it that way, I can just click through recommended videos on a browser (I don't mind the algorithm)

      Falkon

Falkon is made by KDE. Not Chinese at all. It's kinda buggy and it's built adblocker sucks.

just having a tab open to the youtube front page uses half a gigabyte of RAM in modern browsers without even loading a video and that's just ONE TAB

          pipeviewer cli

          Linux + Individious/yt-fzf/yt-dlp/aria2c/mpv

running a virtual machine will take considerably more RAM and processing power than just using a KDE web browser...

I didn't say anything about virtual machines. You can literally run invidious instance locally on your OS using 100-500MB ram or if even that is too much for you even though you use 1-3 GB for browser anyway, you can use randomized url to get random invidious instances.

Doesn't k-meleon support xul addons? If so then you should be able to easily get ublock.

nta, k-meleon nowadays uses the goanna engine, the one made for pale moon. so yes, technically you can install xul addons into it, i did that when i saw this thread to see if i could, it does install, but it doesn't seem to work correctly.
i'm not super familiar with k-meleon, i've used it before but a very long time ago and not for a long time. i believe it's not a xul-based interface like firefox/palemoon, so i doubt there's a way to make its' button appear, but also the buttons in about:addons don't work, and even if you manually visit its' chrome page it shows up but is non-functional, everything is blank and the buttons don't work, it doesn't appear to block anything either
the k-meleon page does mention it can use xul extensions, so it's possible i'm just missing something

i think i found the issue, k-meleon appears to be using a very old version of the goanna engine. their download page says goanna 3.6, though the useragent says 3.5... these are both very old, my main palemoon install lists goanna 6.6
now ublock origin doesn't need a particularly new goanna, ubo legacy itself hasn't even had an update since 2021
