Is that all you have to say?
>I would rather have read of one you guys' diary
thats basically what its supposed to be. sounds like you missed the point completely
I bet you guys wouldn't have wasted 50% of the pages saying the exact same shallow idea over and over only using different phrases. Damn, like, I got it in the first few chapters, champ, move on
It had such a GOOD start, one of the best really, but then... wtf
>shallow idea
And the reasoning was so shallow too. I understand it makes sense for the average midwit full-of-himself character but it was also unecessarily boring
>Damn, like, I got it in the first few chapters, champ, move on
lmao no wonder you disliked it if you write like this
>wasted 50% of the pages saying the exact same shallow idea over and over
Literally didn't, holy hell work on your reading comprehension.
>saying the exact same shallow idea over and over only using different phrases
Was this your first time reading Dostoevsky?
This motherfricker was so relatable I went into a major depressive episode that made me bed ridden for 2 days. No book should affect someone that much but dostoevsky always delivers.
>but dostoevsky always delivers
I do agree. Dostoevsky is constantly a good read, but not this one for me. The first few pages he was spot-on but then things got too "gotcha!"
>his motherfricker was so relatabl
He isn't.
When you grow up you eventually will. Everyone experiences that level of angst once you get into your early 20s. It's unavoidable.
I have been experiencing it since I was 15. Does that mean it will pass sooner for me? I'm 20 now
If you start where the actual story of the falling sleet starts then it’s one of the greatest stories written.
He's literally me
>t. midwit with typical ice cold midwit take
every boomer is a midwit
You are not supposed to take his word for it, moron, it's just his cope and justification for his despicable actions.
Am I the only person that thinks the description and circumstances of the prostitute are the defining part of the book? He utterly devastates any reasoning you may have to become a simp, its beautiful.
He really doesn't, the whole point is that he regrets treating her like he did and realizes he only did it out of a desire to feel powerful and out of spite.
He does make a compelling argument to stop being a prostitute but that's it.
Maybe I'm misremembering then, but I thought he starts regretting how he treats her but then realizes shes a dirty prostitute and the definition of used goods and resolves that she is a lost cause and by extension all women are.
If that's your take, you are fricking moronic.
He puts 5 rubles in her hand, signaling her he sees her as nothing more than a prostitute, that is right. He then proceeds to say that's the modt evil and despicable act he ever did.
He didn't "realize she's a lost cause", he realized he never meant to help her, just to toy with her to make her suffer, so he can feel powerful after getting humiliated by his peers. He literally confesses all of this to her while crying. The whole last charpters are all about this, so it's hardly misremembering, I diagnose you with sever /misc/ induced brainrot.
Also you are not supposed to agree with the underground man, so even if he came to such a conclusion, you would still be wrong.
I'll have to reread it, thanks.
