Yes, jxl. I've started to reencode some folders, it works really quite well. Still have to try cjxl_ng tho.

vp9 is only useful because now you don't have to reencode youtube videos
since there's no jxl content out there, there is no use in adding jxl
jewtube uses av1 now so you need to troony code their content anyway
they still use x264 and vp9 to encode everything
matter of fact 100% of encodes are at least vp9 but probably only 60% or less are av1 as well

i mean, vp9 should work fine now, at least it is theoretically allows larger bitrate with same file size and it allows true lossless compression
Thing is it takes less time to encode vp1 with some parameters than vp9 with good parameters to produce superior quality.
