As it should have stayed. A platform for people to have fun on, not to make money off of.

not even /misc/, but the obvious right answer is 2016. once you establish censorship as a standard course then you will get judged for everything you don't censor. and since google's source of revenue comes from ad sense, not from youtube, they have no reason to make sure youtube is a viable product and every incentive to make sure they don't piss off advertisers

Firefox? That's YouTube. Google is incompetent, not even the founders are working at Google anymore, not even the Google logo is real nowadays.

Up until 2017 it was usable. Then it became complete bull. Now it's irredeemable.

google apps store still has star based review system and you can actually see each review with description why it is what it is, curious how on youtube same thing is totally le bad........

The downhill turn was around 2012 or 2013, I forget, when they starting fricking with ads and recommendations to prioritize long-form content. Like remember when every single video was exactly 10:01 long and high effort animations and skits died overnight?

It's been nothing but downhill since then and I don't really care to settle on a specific point where it became completely unusable.

When the imaginary algorithm became the boogeyman that told people how to malform their video content for maximum views, and everything online became purely about money and clout instead of artistic expression.

When they started revenue sharing off ads, biggest single mistake in the history of youtube by far, google shouldve kept it all for themselves.
