hevc costs money. blame the mpeg consortium. oem machines don't have this problem because the oem pays the fee for you. of course any media player that people actually use will use the based illegal free french hevc decoder that videolan made.
windows users already know how to not have this be a problem. it's only posted as a freetard strawman

Yeah but that's only thanks to free and open source software.

Windows users also get to enjoy the work of the best crackers, aka as FitGirl Repacks YWNBAW

FitGirl doesn't crack games, moron, he/she only compress games to oblivion, making install times 2x as long as the time you spent downloading the game.
Use this: https://store.rg-adguard.net/
To download these:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/hevc-video-extensions-from-device-manufacturer/9n4wgh0z6vhq
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/heif-image-extensions/9pmmsr1cgpwg
Then install them through PS with add-appxpackage
Fricking done, homosexuals.
Is there a single non-Black personlicious piece of software that doesn't just use libavcodec or libx265 directly?

basically anything commercial because there isn't only the patent issue for them, but also the fact that these are GPL. Most commercial stuff just doesn't support h.265 and uses OpenH264, Cisco's worse library, where they pay the maximum royalties (h.264 had a maximum, that's why MS gives it away for free too, h.265 does not)
I actually did that and still had the message pop up and couldn't play hevc, after spending like 2h trying to get it to work I just decided to pay for it for convenience
Stop being such a fricking homosexual about the rules. We're all here to have fun. You're being a nofun homosexual who has lost sight about what this site is supposed to be about. Relax, have fun, and realize EVERYONE gets trolled and memed on here. Especially windows users. It's IQfy culture. You wouldn't know that because you're a newbie. Go back to r.eddit where you belong.
there is literally nothing fun about this thread moron. it's just a wintoddler cuck who can't figure out how to use his fricking computer because he is, let me reiterate, a fricking cuck.

And to add on to my last post, you know how I know you're a newbie? Because you think the word "cuck" is wordfiltered because of this mod. The word cuck has been wordfiltered on IQfy since 2014 because of the five guys and /misc/ harbor stuff. You're not making the imageboard any better. You're spending every single night ban evading and posting this same doxx. What is the end goal for you?
>winshill doesn't even know that most distros have in x265 in the main repos
Keep sucking off MPEG and Microsoft at the same thing homosexual. I don't have to give a dime to decode HEVC.

I hope you're just pretending to be an idiot.

so debian apparently just decided to risk getting their ass sued because "it hasn't happened yet" https://wiki.debian.org/MultimediaCodecs I haven't used Debian in the last several yeats so didn't know about this change.

they're all optiplex sff with integrated gpus
Arch is for unemployed freetards ricing their desktop, not a relevant distro. At that point you could just bring up the GPL violating Manjaro

only thing I'm shilling for is abolition of software patents and copyrights. Pretending that it isn't illegal just because no one got sued for it yet doesn't make them actually go away. Both MS legal amd Red Hat legal decided it most likely is. I believe them better than a bunch of randoms on some shit debian mailing list.
You're missing the point, the hvec codec is only unavailable on unactivated windows. Ordinarily that cost is baked into the cost of windows, but if it's unauthenticated Microsoft legally cannot provide you access to the hvec codec. People who didn't pirate windows/found a way to activate it don't have this problem >vlc is illegal in the US
made me laugh, good bait
VLC uses libdvdcss to break DVD decryption without a license (the key point), which renders it illegal under DCMA as it circumvents copywrite protections. It's an old article but the story is the same now.
Well the MPAA didn’t do anything about it and I can still download it in the US, so suck it gay. This is like saying a lockpick is illegal because it can be used to break into houses. The lockpick isn’t the problem here, it’s what you do with it. Same with VLC.
moron, that's not how laws work. Distributing lockpicks isn't illegal, distributing patented technology without a license is. You can download VLC because it's hosted outside your shithole, in France, where software patents aren't recognized. By US laws they're committing crimes, France just couldn't care less because it's not a crime there.
>this will only work for things you have hardware decoding for. old hardware, or high end media (like HDR) likely won't work

Good thing I'm not ~~*American*~~
>w-what do you mean I have to pay for a decoder with software patents out the ass?!
violate the patent yourself by building something like videolan x265, or shut the frick up moron.
>richard we need 5 billion dollars in revenue this week >fear not m'lady, i got this >richard remembers all these anons who watch x265 hentai to save disk space >heh, i got them
rest is history

no fricking way that's real
It is real, but anyone can get it for free. OP is just a b***h and used bait.

It is. I see it every day because I'm too lazy to change my default video player and forget that it's gonna open with this dogshit app
It would've taken you less time to change it than posting your blog here
I got the same message.
I was smiling. Then I installed VLC. It just works.
user error.
It's time to come home, IQfyentooman.
Explain this come home whiteman meme to me
The meme is about when I came in your mom
Idk they keep calling 'white man' is their respective shill zones. It appears to me that the 'white man' here in question is homeless.
Meanwhile the AV1 extension is completely free.

I'm making special jute rope to deal with AV1 shills on this board .
literally one post number apart. amazing
Yea.. that's amazing and all but the six letter captcha is driving me nuts.
And this is why AV1 is winning.
Hevc rules firm, AV1 shills need to find some better ways to cope

Microsoft software isn't the only software that needs these codecs you raging moron.
name one that doesn't have a (probably better) alternative that does.
guess what automatically installs the codecs for you
not microsoft software
MPC-HC and VLC work for me, I don't know what you could be doing
