Anglos hate Hispanics so of course Hispanic lit is never discussed.

This is ridiculous, stop having a victim mentality.
As an anglo, no one hates Hispanics, we just live in a time where the US (an extension of the UK) is the dominant world power in a very connected and homogenized world and therefore so is English.
In the times of the Roman Empire did people complain because "Latins hate our writing so Greek literature is never discussed"?
No. In the future a new Empire will rise, and its books will then take priority over English ones, but not because of hate.

It's not about language. It's about ethnicity and culture. There is a contempt and sometimes blatant hatred on the part of some IQfyizens. Of course not the cultured ones such as yourself but there are users who very much hate Hispanic culture (in this case literature) for /misc/-related reasons. But whatever.

wrong. anglos hate hispanics because theyre incompetent, cant control their minorities, and resulted in the mestizo abominations that threaten our borders.

the usa and latam existed for roughly the same amount of time, yet latam is majority mestizo while the usa is majority white, and USAs white women overwhelmingly marry white even while constantly being bombarded with racemixing propaganda. think about that.

            Anonymous

Mixing in the US is at higher levels than in the past. It was unthinkable to see a white woman with a black man on the street in the 60s, now it's accepted and more common than before. I don't know why you think things can change overnight, even considering blacks are a much smaller and poorer population.

            Anonymous

please tell everyone how mixing benefits the usa. it mixes a population of blacks with an average 80 iq with whites who average 100 iq.

blacks are less moral. they dont have the integrity to support their mates and children. 70% of black mothers are unwed.

blacks even with affirmative action cannot compete in the same job market. being average 80 iq prevents them from access to the best jobs, and because they breed more children than they can support, they become tempted by crime and gangs to gain money, which makes the quality of life worse for everyone around them.

white women understand this, and the ones who ignore the warning signs usually become single mothers themselves, with 90 iq mulatto children who hate themselves because their black half marks them as too violent and irresponsible for real white society, which they desperately aspire to.

Hate was the wrong word, but Anglos definitely have a poor view of Hispanics. The problem is that Hispanics also have a poor view of Anglos, so a lack of cultural connection is the expected result.

As a traveller hispanics have been far more cultured and well read than Americans, they're also unambitious, so there can be no public evidence of it

What a cope. Nobody much cares. But latin america is a peripheral region with no relevant cultural connection. Spain itself was already the black sheep of western europe with its overly catholic moronation, and when you combine that with amerindians the resulting culture is going to be hyper-niche.

        >Being into hispanic literature is like being into Thai literature
This is a really bad exaggeration, hispanic literature has had a much bigger influence than thai literature. How many thai authors are universally famous, how many of them have won nobel prizes? It’s true that to the current zeitgeist hispanic literature is not as relevant as American, British, French or even German, but then again neither is Italian literature but you wouldn’t call that niche would you?

Thailand is one country. There are twenty one countries that speak spanish.

          Anonymous

Who said anything about it sucking? Its just that its irrelevant and therefore obscure. The political influence of latin america is so laughable it doesn't extend to its own borders, so there's not even a raw force influence like with China. There's no soft power cultural exchange like with Japan or Russia. There's no historic link like with Germany or France. Like what do you fricking expect? The most influence comes from illegal immigrants in the US, and they shake their asses and make shitty fast food, not read books.

There is, if you're American. Unless you haven't read history.
            >not read books.
Vast majority of people don't read books. Readers are few. A Hispanic reader is more well-read than your average American or European, and vice versa.

Try Chronicle of a Death Foretold
Spanish is also my second language and I could get through that, Quixote is written in old Spanish so it's hard to understand if you're not fluent. There are "modernized" versions of it though, and some translations are pretty good

Eh, DQ is early modern Spanish, kind of like the equivalent of 1600s English writers like Shakespeare or whatever. Old Spanish is more like El cantar del Mio Cid, which is like the equivalent to Beowulf. DQ is readable if you adjust certain aspects. Modernized versions are for high school students and the like, kind of like the "No Fear Shakespeare" series.
