>Use fountain pen
>Coworker comes into office to show something
>Anon, let me borrow your pen real quick
>Uh, how does this work, do you have a regular pen?
>Eventually start using a ballpoint pen so this stops happening
I'm not Chad enough to use this thing anymore, I feel self conscious when people notice it.
I Just have a Platinum Preppy or Jinhao 992 for such occasions or have an additional ball point pen for plebs.
Recently got me a stainless steel Kaweco Liliput in EF and i fricking love it as EDC.
It's a bit on the drier side with the EF nib and Pelikan 4001 ink so i have no trouble writing on cheap printing paper either.
Throughout most of elementary and middle school I used exclusively gifted Parker 75 with broad tip; man, what a buttery smooth chonky piece of silver...
Bic is king
Bic is shit, just like your pathetic shilling
>come to IQfy
>post obvious fact that bic is king
>homosexuals cope. unable to avoid truth.
>go to bed
>thread dies.
This shit threads are mostly my advice on using a bic because is cheap and it just works. rest of it is cries.
Bic is king.
The truth is bic makes a subpar pen with terrible quality. Only homosexual is you who thinks a 2 cent pen is even worth using.
The only people who think Bics are even remotely acceptable are those who press down like maniacs when writing. They don't realize that not having to press down as hard is the primary advantage that pens have in general over abrasion-based writing instruments such as pencils. Bics are so bad that I refuse to use them even though I can get them literally for free.
If only I had figured this out when I was still in high school. I could have avoided killing my forearm during school and college (yes, I'm one of those people whose notes could fill up entire books).
>If only I had figured this out when I was still in high school. I could have avoided killing my forearm during school and college (yes, I'm one of those people whose notes could fill up entire books).
Yeap, the same thing happened to me. Developed severe tendonitis due to all the note taking. I was using a Zebra F-301, higher quality than bic, but principle was the same, lots of pressure to write with. When I discovered the V5 years later and then fineliners I was like WTF why didn't I know about these...
>i-it is cheap
great, it is not only good it is also cheap, bic only keeps giving.
>Using bic hurts my arm 🙁
limpwristed homosexual detected.
Get a bic and you'll get used to it. get to your nearest gym and start lifting some weights.
homosexual
>Bic trash
cope harder.
bic is king
You don't write.
post your handwriting. I bet it sucks
Is pretending that fountain pens are bad the new hot IQfy meme?
Isn't there a regular pen that isn't bic trash?
>Uni-ball Jetstream (ballpoint)
>Pilot Precise V5 (rollerball)
>Uni-ball 207 (gel)
>Pentel Energel (gel)
>Sakura Micron (fineliner)
You can easily find these in most stores and are regular, cheap pens of above average quality.
*solves your pen needs forever*
Not as nice as the jap alternatives.
Coworker just got me this as gift for defending.
Have a 75th anniversary, but it's not a fountain
This isn't technolo/g/y.
Technology is the continually developing result of accumulated knowledge and application in all techniques, skills, methods, and processes used in industrial production and scientific research.
Pens are not only vital to industry and science, they are also the result of science and industrial production. They were actively developed by humans for centuries. Industry could not exist without pens, pens in their current form could not exist without industry.
by this post, we could discuss about rope, chains, knifes, shovels and whatever the frick you can fit into that shit you wrote on IQfy
I really doubt if these threads are not just spam or bot created traffic.
Bic is king
>bic poster hates the pen thread
sounds like someone has pen envy
I don't hate it, I get my laughs here.
I write wherever I want because I use a bic and frickers work everywhere.
yes, but it would suck even if I used a gold fountain pen. my handwriting is my fault, not the pen.
Bic is king
>gorilla using stick is tech
>pens are somehow not
seems legit, buddy.
lamy safari and pentel energel are pretty based
might try a pilot metropolitan
I bent my rotring 600 tip, does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix it? I have removed the tip and stuck a needle inside to unbend it. I'm still having a difficult time putting the needle in and removing it. I refuse to buy a new tip that's 12.50$ plus 10$ shipping . Any suggestions? picrel
arent fineliners and V5s like $2-$3 each thats a lot for how fast thet run out of ink and you cant recharge them
>"look ma I made another /ppg/ bred!"
fricken pengays < /edc/ gungays < watchgays
>use a MB and Sailor 1911 at work depending on mood
>use my Bic when I have to write on something that isn't suitable for a FP
>Bic also comes in handy when someone needs to borrow a pen
Why carry just the one pen, FPchads and Bic sisters can get along.
what kind of pen or marker would be the most weather-proof for labeling my water bottles and backpacking gear?
i just want it to be a bit less annoying to camp around other people since practically everyone these days seems to use smartwater or lifewater bottles with a sawyer.
one of those is my best guess
https://www.staedtler.com/us/en/products/markers/permanent-marker/
i've been using the muji aluminum for about 2 months now, it's my first fountain pen. one of the only IQfy memes i fell for that i didn't regret later.
>see chinese looking pen in amazon
>$30
>check aliexpress
>$6
>need pen to sign form
>grab/be handed whichever is at hand
>sign form
>continue with life unimpeded by some pretentious bred on 4chinz.
>continue with life unimpeded
lol I wish
well.. I sure as frick didn't need to buy a $30 pen!
i hope you can save $30 some day anon
thrift != poor
Real thrift chads focus on price to quality. The value of my pens i didnt get for free is <$5 and i use an iphone SE i bought for $30. I only have pens for the rare paperwork/check and writing down directions for rural/wooded areas. I almost never write otherwise. Using a keyboard is more cost effective, so a rarely used pen must be 100% permanent and reliable. One pilot g2 is less of a waste than 8 bics. Money spent on subpar goods is as wasted as money spent on pure luxury.
Being thrifty doesn't equal being rich either.
What pen can you leave uncapped for ~10 min as you think on your math problem and then continue to write?
This is why I'm afraid to change from ballpoints, I think anything else would dry out
all of them
fountain pens are enjoyable to write with but not very practical in day-to-day use unless you do all your writing at a dedicated desk
bics are obsolete with the advent of gel pens
>bics are obsolete with the advent of gel pens
Bic is king anon, bic gel will fill your needs.
in my experience bics skip even with a lot of pressure
never had that problem with gel pens
>gel pens
Why has every fricking experience I've had with gel pens been an ugly fricking mess? Plain pens write so much cleaner and better.
Because you are subhuman (left handed)
Use a marker. They dry faster. FYI pilot gel pens are worse for gays than uniball gel pens.
Fountain pen users are the stupidest hipsters out there.
Today i tested all of my pens
Every single bic and fountain pen was dry and would not write on the first 3 tries. Even the platinum preppy was a hard starter. I threw away everything that would never sell on ebay.
Every single pilot/uniball worked flawlessly. Every sharpie and micron worked flawlessly. $1.50 a pen tops. Worth it. $0.03 pens? $3+ pens? Not usable as pens.
>Every single pilot/uniball worked flawlessly. Every sharpie and micron worked flawlessly. $1.50 a pen tops. Worth it. $0.03 pens? $3+ pens? Not usable as pens.
This is the real redpill here.
>Every single bic and fountain pen was dry and would not write on the first 3 tries.
Why do you need more than 1 or 2 pens with ink in them at a time?
As long as you use a fountain pen at least once every day or two, it will never dry out. It's probably the same with bics.
They’re all swag pens, stolen, or gifts from coworkers and exes. My last ex bought matching TWSBIs and wanted us to write letters to each other (didnt last and neither did she, I caught her watching dog porn)
Fricking nobody uses a pen every day or even every two except for hipsters larping as novelists and coming up with ways to waste ink (“bullet journaling!”)
Pens are inconvenient and inefficient. If you need to do more than scribble down a phone number or sign a form you’re probably using a computer. The last time i wrote a paragraph by hand? Last Christmas. I used a pen that hadn’t been touched in months. Thank god it was a sharpie so it actually worked.
>I caught her watching dog porn
Is she single?
Problem here is official documents must be written exclusively with ballpoints (in black, please, no fancy blue or any other weird colors); don't ask, it's yurop.
What dated moronation. Worse than the brits and their parchment addiction.
It was a video of a guy boning his pitbull cowgirl style in the back of a car. She confessed she fantasized about being the dog. The warning signs were there… her wallpaper was a cartoon wolf that looked like a furry drew it. She was Japanese so I never expected it.
>She was Japanese
To repeat
Is she single?
No, she has her own dog now. Malamute. With balls.
It's actually relatively recent (my guess is probably something to do with tamper proofing documents, fountain pen ink being water based, documents would be relatively easy to be tampered with or fade away)
Ballpoint ink isn’t tamper proof either being oil and dye based, unless you mean they use pigment or cellulose reactive rollerball/gel pens. If i recall they also make tamper proof fountain pens and drafting pens that outclass rollerballs, but there’s no government authority that rates loose ink, only the drafting pens (relatively expensive for a business) are certified archival.
It looks like the very existence of pens really makes you angry.
pengays summarized:
>it's gud money after gud
it is literally a consumable.
>it's indelible/tamper-proof
the process of tampering would destroy the media (paper) - no one here is signing international accords
>it writes *sublimely*
if you're giving yourself carpal tunnel - just get a fricking laptop.
& of course the age old
>x (gel) vs. y (rollerball/fountain)
it's a fricking pen - as long as it makes the scribble when I need it to - kewl. otherwise it goes in the bin.
feed and seed b***h
>the process of tampering would destroy the paper
There was a mail fraud epidemic in the US due to the combination of boomers using checks and boomers using bic pens. Acetone washes bic ink clean off pretty much everything without damaging the paper unless your particular security paper has acetone soluble security print on it. Today a lot of checks do, but a lot of cheap/free checks don't, and some businesses still want your name and credit card info mailed to them. Like my dental plan. A document washer could use such a document to use my money to pay for their dental. But they can't, it's literally impossible. The security bug was patched when I used the $1 pen I keep around instead of a $0.03 pen I stole.
Until everyone gets off their ass and modernizes, pens are an issue, but it's rathr simple
RULE 1: Bic is trash.
RULE 2: Fountain pen = goes in the bin.
RULE 3: Uni-ball signo or sakura micron.
If you do not need more, then use a fricking pencil. HB is spilled drink resistant and more cost effective than any ink on earth.
no i will use noodlers bulletproof!
>writes a big ugly blurry line that bleeds through the page and smears 1 hour later
oh no, you will upset the limpwristed homosexuals in here.
wall of text and it is wrong.
bic is king b***h.
>wall of text and it is wrong.
My argument is that formerly Chucks would imply that "Chuck sucks and fricks", but in reality it would be "Chuck feed and seed".
also, "Bart fart and shart" makes no point at all and it is not canon to The Simpsons.
Bic is king
The day of the rope is near for bic shills.
>doesnt write on the first try
>erasable ink
>smudges
>skips
if the cost effectiveness of a pen is in question, use a keyboard instead 🙂
While all you gays argue about pens, I will just sit here enjoying my wooden pencils, lead holders and mechanical pencils.
>pencils
lol are you in 4th grade?
>wooden pencil
why would i bother with them when mechanical pencils exist?
redpill me on lead holders, do they stay sharp or do you have to sharpen the tip for thick leads?
looks pretty thick is it comfortable to write with it?
This was made for long term uses. I draw and write for long periods of time and would get a sort of fatigue whenever i go past 2 hours of using. Having a thicker grip places less strain on your hands due to the amount of pressure you'd typically have with a more slim grip. Plus the tendons in your fingers will have less stress!
If you have a King Sized Sharpie laying around try holding that cos i think those are also around 14mm in diameter to hold.
I'm a strong advocate on ergonomics my friend.
i guess it looks more normal next to the lamy
what is the box on the left? is that a g nib? post some drawings
The lil box is a .925 Navajo pillbox made around 1975. The box holds my nibs while I travel around. I have a whole edc for drawing. Yes thats gnib but I typically use vintage esterbrook nibs.
This was done on a pocket book 3.5x5.5
I like the soft feel of pencil
Bad
Good
This is one I like to share but not exactly a recent inking
bump
nah writing instruments are a mature and deprecated technology with no frequent use outside of the arts. for non artists, there isn't much to say. gel pens and markers won. everything else is even older tech in a field of old tech and has terrible flaws that make them bad for how people use pens... very rarely and only for very important things. although i am sure your bics or bulk noodlers ink and platinum preppy are more cost effective once you finally finish handwriting that novel or complete 5000sqft of ink sketches.
>>>/ic/
I was able to get this custom done and currently don't have the means to crop both together rn.
This is the original button and tip of the Pentel P200 series chrome
1/2
Motherfricker the image didn't load!
Brass tip and buttons. The tip is still the original bit but with the chrome removed but the button was custom made. I feel like this was an extra touch to make this even more so personal. I would love to have a blue torched look for my fatter graphite sizes (5.6,3.15,2mm)
2/2
Ball Pen is to laser printer what Ink pen is to Inkjet printers
Just get a Bic, homosexuals.
>Just get a shitty pen, homosexuals.
Nah
I use a Lamy 2000, extra fine. It's pretty good piston filler.
which one should I get?
Neither, Pilot V5 or go home.
I like thicker strokes
V7 then
follow your heart
I'm a big Uni fan, but those felt sort of scratchy and irritating to use.
Listen to this glorious homosexual, he knows what he's talking about, the V5 (or V7 in your case) is GOAT:
Quality over quantity
What's the black pen?
