Phenomenology Of Spirit

"Undecipherable"

Or just untranslateable? The fact that this book, while containing solutions to most problems of epistemology is absolutely unreadable for monolingual ameritards makes my dick so incredibly hard. You will never be able to grasp the absolute Spirit with your own Hands, you will have to rely on scharlatans and pop-philosophers like Zizek to read it to you.

You LITERALLY had to rely on fricking mathematicians like Wittgenstein to give you an actual approach to analytic-continental philosophy, while it all was right there, an a lot better, a lot mightier.

The sheer existance of this book is an attack on the american academia. Thank you Hegel.

I don't know if this is common academic "tradition" in america, but where I learn and teach, on my Alma Mater, we prefer it that those who teach understand the topic, of which they teach.

I don't know, maybe thats just a stretch.

I'm new to IQfy The "discussions" on this board are just boyscouts who want to impress others with their badges. There really isn't any discussion, people seem to just come here to convince themselves that they are much more intelligent than someone who hasn't read x or y and somehow insulting each other and bringing up some weird concepts should prove that. The people i've seen here are not actually interested in the topics other than the feelings of self worth it provides them. Why are you always angry at someone for? what are you trying to prove?

yeah it's true isn't it? What the frick do i care what you think is shit, telling me to read this or that, i want your opinion on topics, explanations of your fields of expertise/ interesting thoughts and compare it to mine not some empty phrases and insults that neither help nor interest me. Why can't we be excited about literature or philosophy, giving each other insights and perceived truths? Is this so naive of me?

        hegel is trash.
        read schopenhauer

i mean look at this guy, what is this?? Nothing of substance at all. What lizard brain wizardry produces the motivation to actually type this out and click "post"??

Weil du ein Idiot bist, der nicht weiß, was z.B. der Unterschied zwischen "dem Unterschied" und "der Verschiedenheit" ist.

or this guy takes two random words from hegel that have nothing to do with the discussion and, like a school child, tells everyone "I know what it means and you don't" I really am puzzled as to why people do this. It's so uninspiringly dull

and OP just uses Hegel to insult americans apparently, who does he want to impress? those he insults?

You are all not perfect, we don't know the truth, we haven't read everything, it's very possible that someone has read an interesting philosopher that you don't know and that's ok.

I just started reading Hegel and i have no fricking clue what he is talking about.

Don't get used to the board, it's complete shit. I only come here once a month once I realized that there is nothing here of use. You will never have a meaningful conversation here about any book, especially philosophy. Threads with actual effort get buried first because nobody is willing to discuss things seriously or they never actually read the things being discussed.

philosophy has got to be the only discipline where something being 'difficult' somehow prevents it from being considered true.
Imagine someone opening a textbook on quantum physics and getting stuck on the particle in a well example and crying and pissing and yelling that its all gibberish and pointless language games and some obscure excuse for physicist to get money.
    absolutely pathetic.

Most people consider Leibniz false and at best they have briefly skimmed his monadology. Leibniz was a deeper and more profound thinker than Hegel as well. Clearer, precise and mathematical in his thought, and to this day unrefuted.

Needless obscurantism refines socio-hegemonies from redefining the self beyond what the in-it-self of Nature can be believed with the grounded essence seen as itself is of course the basis for this belief as transnational flight in the Althusserian sense. While the erasure of thought-as-known is necessary, on one side, the realm of clouds that is the forceful rejection of communicative thought-as-belief is the negative. Contrary to economic structures that systematically prefer themselves to the other, while preferring to be believed in the consciousness of being as essence to the particular all belied thought the middle term of the syllogism that Nature begets through her natural tendency of motherhood the being-of-itself of womanhood, the structures become at their essence unstructured rejecting their nature not as Nature but as nature denatured

The academic consensus is just that it is a "shadowy" and "nerve depleting" read, that it is only understandable by a german that is willing to invest everything into his own knowledge was said by hegel himself.

Brandom is a nonmetaphysical Hegelian and certified moron in a fad that will hopefully FINALLY die soon

Instead of reading Brandom's watered down Pittsburgh pragmatist reading of watered down Hegel, just read Sellars directly and read Hegel with some actual decent secondary lit like Charles Taylor and Frederick Beiser

        >Charles Taylor and Frederick Beiser
This is actually the best way a non native, non-actually intellectual german speaker could go. Of course you can never reach the niveau of someone like Gotthard Günther, even if you start studying german every day from today onwards. And I think thats so very beautiful.

Exquisite sincere bait. I believe you are in fact what you say you are, but the thing is Germans have always been conceited buttholes who were, mind you, considered barbaric and rather primitive, until one fine Mme. De Staelle decided they had something of actual worth to say. Now unless you pretend German is superior to French because of some nonsensical "could fit many words into one" notion, be my guest, but we all know that Germany's Idealism extends farther than just the philosophical realm bordering on pure undiluted delusions.
