Plastic-free AeroPress?

Is there a plastic-free clone of this technology?
And why doesn't Aeropress, Inc. (formerly Aerobie, Inc.) themselves make a plastic-free version? Surely there is enough demand...

Why not just a french press? True and tried classic.

This. Moka pot if you want 1 cup (or two) at a time, French press if you're brewing for 2+ people. I'm content with my aeropress after having used all 3, it's effortless and cleans easier than either Moka or french press. Plus no sediment in my brew, and I can play with grind sizes based on the roast and still make a decent up.
Might build a Gagguino if I own a house someday, but couldn't care less about espresso right now.

The plastic V60 has by far the best thermal conductivity. Also you can just put the filter in, wash it, and then put it upside down over your kettle. The steam will preheat it easily by the time your water hits your preferred temp, I usually go with 210° F.
I do it pretty much every time before I pour my beans.

        Consider not being autistic

if you're using pourover you can afford to be autistic because you'll actually benefit from it

sand holds heat, so I'd assume it's also so that you can distribute heat evenly across the whole surface area of the cup as well.

        Wiki:
        >Another ancient tradition involves placing the cezve filled with coffee in a pan filled with hot sand. The pan is heated over an open flame, thereby letting the sand take total control of the heat. The heat created by the sand lets the coffee foam to the top almost immediately. The heat can also be adjusted by the depth of the cezve in the sand. This process is usually repeated three to four times and then the coffee is finally served in small cups called demitasse cups.

a moka is for making espresso. Only difference is it won't have the cream on top like the machine

it seemed kinda watery to me, tho not american coffee tier. then again I never had espresso on its own anyway.

how watery it is depends on how much water you put vs. coffee grounds. I think you should also use coffee made for it, not the same stuff you put in a filter drip coffee maker

    Blog time
Best fricking espresso i've ever had was in a dingy franchise cafe in Napoli (Ironically named Mexico), ive tasted others in Italy (Rome and Florence) but the best one was there, maybe the sea mineral water had something to do with it but no other espresso tastes the same way that morning one, accompanied by a soft yet crunchy sfogliatelle that was out of this world.

In the end, the machine and process may be the important part for some in regards to coffee tasting, but for me, it depends on the kind of water you use.

so where are the proofs that making coffee in moka pot is bad?
          from the paper you mentioned:
          >to assess metals leaching, acetic acid solution (4%), sodium bicarbonate solution (0.5 N), and deionized ultra-pure water were boiled in all cookware for 30, 60, and 120 min.
yes, everybody adds acid to their coffee and then boils it for 1-2 hours

What makes these better than any other funnel?

        Anonymous

They have a meme shape that lets the coffee flow through quicker so you have full control. The flow rate is only limited by how finely you ground the coffee and your careful pouring technique so you can fine-tune it
Cheaper funnels artificially slow down the flow rate to brew stronger coffee by making the holes tiny. They do that to compensate for the morons that buy them not knowing what they're doing and using coarse ground coffee which would all flood straight through a hario v60 and give them weak coffee
It only makes a difference if you have autism, but they're cheap and last for life so why not buy the best one. Any ceramic funnel will do really

      >What's that? Why would I not just make espresso like a normal person?
A "normal" person doesn't make espresso
You need a very expensive espresso machine. Or some gay shit like a home made steel contraption you pressurise with a bicycle pump
Plus years of practice and it's still very fiddly to get right especially on cheaper consumer machines
Why would I not just get proper espresso from a barista when I want it and drink pourover at home. Moka is "close enough" if you want something a bit stronger and 1/100 the effort of espresso

        Anonymous

Why would you need a super expensive machine? Even the cheap ones have enough pressure.
The size of the holes in the filter and the size of the coffee particles determine flow not so much the pressure.
Just grind it to a size that works best for your machine and you're good.

    >Aeropress
ok I had a look - a couple of things:
    1) $40 isn't too bad for a coffee maker - you'll spend the same on a really decent plunger
    2) here's my concern:
    >fill aeropress with coffee and boiling waer, place on cup, apply considerable downward force
    >cup slips or tilts - boiling coffee everywhere

am I just being a gorrilla Black? or is it a thing.
    t. use a plunger and *occasionally* have to push the plunger down with some serious force. Using something so flimsy and narrow with the same force would make me nervous.
