Just buy a Moka. If you want to live plastic free you need to use what boomers used.
>Moka
they explode really nicely.
i've used expensive italian and chinkshit mokas and this never happened
every house in my family has one and it never happened to them either
NTA but my moka pot exploded as well. It was because i used it with an induction stovetop. Even at the lowest setting, the rate of heating was too high for it
i've used a moka for coming to twenty years at this point
i don't know how you're mistreating one to make it explode
>i don't know how you're mistreating one to make it explode
probably packs the coffee in so tight it becomes a solid brick
mine didn't but it did crack recently, I've used it for 5 years I think
shouldn't have cracked up the heat so much, just let it heat slowly
>want a pressed coffe without plastics? >just buy a meme percolator and drink burnt shit
Shut the frick up moron
how much pressure does an aero press deliver
for comparison, an espresso is made with 15 bar
>moka pot is a percolator
Confirmed for clueless moron
which one
stainless steel bialetti
if youre impatient and moronic, it makes bad coffee
>stainless steel bialetti
why that one
The Italian on it is cute.
Ilsa master race
what is the difference between this and a Moka?
made of stainless steel not aluminium
This. Just get a used, vintage Moka from some boomers. New ones are crap but the old stuff lasts forever. I even have a very old toaster which has been my parents in the 70's 80's. Even fridges from that time last forever, I have two of them running in the basement non stop and they don't consume that much electricity. Boomer tech lasts almost forever
>Even fridges from that time last forever, I have two of them running in the basement non stop
So you're the c**t who has been burning the hole in our ozone layer
Nope, it's the 1% doing that, I'm just living my life and not using my private jet to go to the privy
>four replies
Yep. I gottem. I want to thank Jesus Christ for being there for me even when I wasn't there for Him (I'm sorry). I want to thank God for supporting me beyond what I deserved. I most of all want to thank the morons on this board for being buttblasted for my amusement. I might read your replies if you keep seething.
ozone crisis was solved
every single electronic device on earth generates ozone, made up problem.
Surely one gay's 2 old refrigerators, 1 toaster, and an old moka is ripping a hole in the ozone, not the huge ass factory next door pumping a few hundred kilotons of crap into the air daily.
You can just buy new stainless steel one from a good brand and they work fine. Even the aluminum ones are find just get one that's Italian and not chinkshit
This. Moka pot if you want 1 cup (or two) at a time, French press if you're brewing for 2+ people. I'm content with my aeropress after having used all 3, it's effortless and cleans easier than either Moka or french press. Plus no sediment in my brew, and I can play with grind sizes based on the roast and still make a decent up.
Might build a Gagguino if I own a house someday, but couldn't care less about espresso right now.
You can use Aeropress filters with a Moka pot
This is basically the most important info you need to know. Moka pot needs paper filters, otherwise it's shitty as hell.
ArtisanSmith sells one.
AeroPress also makes a Tritan one, which is purported to be a safe plastic, but it's still a plastic
Tritan is like most of them, UV light degrades them. Most all BPA-free plastics are like this though and it's honestly not a big deal.
>a safe plastic
Any plastic releases tons of endocrine disruptors, among other things. It even more true when the plastic is hot, like when you do your coffee.
>endocrine disruptors
Holy frick what a meme term. Caffeine disrupts your body's normal endocrine function too. Got a problem with coffee too?
Can't you use your brain for once?
>Is there a plastic-free clone of this technology?
It's called an espresso machine.
Apples to oranges
Why not just a french press? True and tried classic.
what's the argument against these?
nothing. its a good/fast/easy way of making coffee.
the sludge
you vill slurp the sludge
That one looks nice but all the ones I see have a shitty plastic part on the lid that touches the coffee. You will drink your microplastics.
https://weberworkshops.com/products/bird
No-bypass in reverse brewing.
I'll be honest - looks over engineered to be needlessly complex.
I'll take muh plunger and either a tea strainer for the last cup or just do the gritty dregs grimace. Especially for $554 vs. the couple of buck I pay at the opshop
This shit is audiophile tier, way overpriced for what it is
French press is the best way to make coffee, but ignore this glassware shit
it's really not, every drip method is way better
Not pressurized.
Have fun wasting your time on cleaning that shit every morning.
No thanks, Aeropress almost cleans itself and you get a low moisture puck out of it that you can just toss into the trash without making a moist mess in the bottom of your trash can.
I also prefer to make a single serving to always drink freshly brewed coffee instead of one fresh cup and a few stale, oxidized cups that taste bad.
Either get a proper espresso setup or just drink pour over or something. Why bother with some plastic press?
>Why bother with some plastic press?
Some people swear by them, saying they make way better coffee than French presses. I've been thinking of trying one out but the plastic part irks me. I understand it's not the same thing as espresso and am not expecting it to be.
Is all plastic bad?
Yes. No plastic is safe. Especially when heated.
that looks like
>tilt slightly and cup full of hot liquid goes flying throwing boiling hot, staining coffee everywhere
I've used a plunger for nearly 30 yrs (not the same one).
get french press, moka or V60
all made out of stainless steel, glass and/or ceramic (all food safe)
Aren’t you afraid of microceramics and microglass getting into your food? Be careful with that!
>oh noes theres slightly more inert dirt in my system
Quick summary of the thread:
>le old thing good, le new thing bad
>le plastic is bad
>le cheap and reliable is le bad
I have yet to see an argument against the supreme brewing solution
Paper filters
>Paper filter
Nothing wrong with that. I use the cafec abaca filters and they are fine.
Paper filters filter out the oils, makes the coffee taste like shit
>cleaner
sure, it get rids of some of the actual taste
Not him but paper filters are a pro.
>cleaner tasting cup
>lower risk of cholesterol problems
Is that the thing they use in Tokyo Ghoul?
Ceramic requirespreheating and even then it will sink a lot of heat out of the water during the brew, so you have to mess around with carefully preheating and using higher temperature water to compensate
Consider not being autistic
No reason to make mediocre coffee if you are going through the effort to make pourover
effort? it's the least effort way of making coffee.
I have the glass one and it's fine. There's a copper one that's pretty thin so might be good?
The plastic V60 has by far the best thermal conductivity. Also you can just put the filter in, wash it, and then put it upside down over your kettle. The steam will preheat it easily by the time your water hits your preferred temp, I usually go with 210° F.
I do it pretty much every time before I pour my beans.
if you're using pourover you can afford to be autistic because you'll actually benefit from it
>by far the best thermal conductivity
How does plastic have better thermal conductivity than nickel plated copper?
It this case by best thermal conductivity he means most desirable for coffee brewing and that's as little as possible
I don't think so.
Stop drinking coffee
Or what, chud?
No
>stop drinking coffee and tea
>can't even eat chocolate without getting palpitations and trouble sleeping
oh well, at least I got rid of my heartburn
Why?
>*smashes your coffee cup*
heh nothing personnel kid
Aeropress is the most soi moron way of making coffee. Enjoy shit tasting like bleach as you force the coffee though a bleached paper filter, not even to mention the plastic.
There are so many more simple and better ways of making coffee. Just get a ceramic v30, fresh press, or moka pot.
cold brew wants a word
>Bleached filters bad
Are you mentally moronic? Bleached should be less flavor.
I have a reusable metal filter on mine
same it's perfect
No.
Use a moka pot and get aluminium poisoning instead.
delonghi ec685 is the Thinkpad of the coffee brewing world
enjoy your high cholesterol levels in blood
>high cholesterol levels
oh my fat american woman
>A 2023 Scientific Reports study of 9,009 volunteers found that people who drank 3 to 4 daily cups of coffee were roughly 1½ times more likely to have high LDL than “light” consumers who downed fewer than 3 cups. But the real problems were for people who consumed more than 4 cups daily, as their odds of high LDL skyrocketed nearly sixfold compared to light coffee drinkers.
You don't need more than one cup of coffee per day (two if you do a siesta).
>cups
I never know what this means, a coffee mug or 250ml?
Government always tells you good things are bad, make sure you never drink more than two alcoholic drinks in a night...for your health. Of course you'll go insane unless you embrace Islam.
>The participants were asked how many cups of coffee they drink regarding the last 12 months (1 cup equals 150 ml).
That is not the definition of a cup. That's like a sip. A cup is 250ml at a minimum.
cup is 200ml. It's an iso standard
>1 cup or 8 fluid ounces 237 ml
https://www.exploratorium.edu/food/measurements
fricken hell Merkins are backwards.
>enamel over copper or chrome (stainless)
dude...
a cold cup just after lunch (usually the last pour from the plunger in the morning in a keep cup and then in the fridge) is the best pick me up there is. Apart from an under the desk blowjob from your secretary.
>buy magic sand and the mana attuned vessel
>enjoy delicious turkish coffee forever, anytime you want
Simple as
slop
>t. muggle
Is the sand just for show, or does it actually do something for the end result vs just using a regular flame?
probably makes the process easier (working multiple pots with varying temperatures), can't see it making any other real difference
sand holds heat, so I'd assume it's also so that you can distribute heat evenly across the whole surface area of the cup as well.
Wiki:
>Another ancient tradition involves placing the cezve filled with coffee in a pan filled with hot sand. The pan is heated over an open flame, thereby letting the sand take total control of the heat. The heat created by the sand lets the coffee foam to the top almost immediately. The heat can also be adjusted by the depth of the cezve in the sand. This process is usually repeated three to four times and then the coffee is finally served in small cups called demitasse cups.

i dont drink coffee homosexual
I just came into this thread to call you a frickwit lmoa
here for the pointless argument I see - I'm guessing you're having short term memory problems now?
take meds
can you make espresso-like dense coffee with a moka pot? or getting one of those tiny espresso machines the only way? I'm tired of watery coffee.
a moka is for making espresso. Only difference is it won't have the cream on top like the machine
it seemed kinda watery to me, tho not american coffee tier. then again I never had espresso on its own anyway.
how watery it is depends on how much water you put vs. coffee grounds. I think you should also use coffee made for it, not the same stuff you put in a filter drip coffee maker
No you can't without spending at least $550 on equipment.
Anything you try will be a disappointment.
Blog time
Best fricking espresso i've ever had was in a dingy franchise cafe in Napoli (Ironically named Mexico), ive tasted others in Italy (Rome and Florence) but the best one was there, maybe the sea mineral water had something to do with it but no other espresso tastes the same way that morning one, accompanied by a soft yet crunchy sfogliatelle that was out of this world.
In the end, the machine and process may be the important part for some in regards to coffee tasting, but for me, it depends on the kind of water you use.
>lived in napoli for a few years
>was too young and dumb to appreciate the coffee
at least I miss the food
Not a big fan of expresso. For all intensive purposes it's just burnt coffee with a fancy european name.
use a glass v60 or kalita wave
Just works, simple as.
Does anyone outside the United States use these things?
I dont give a frick about what 3rd worlds are doing
Pretty common in France, especially among the older people (45+ years old). Younger people don't drink coffee or drink Nespresso shitty coffee.
This shit is chock-full of plastic in direct contact with the coffee as it's being brewed.
>Moka Pot
>French Press
>dr*p machine
No thanks.
You're not interesting. Nothing about you is.
Doesn't matter, my coffee is fricking great.
It's a mind altering drug that you're addicted to. You're basically a heroin addict in my eyes. Just because it's socially acceptable doesn't change these facts.
Okay, cool.
My coffee is still delicious.
What's this anime?

sorry - forgot the intellect level I'm dealing with
>I totes btfo'd you by proving you wrong with stats and shit senpai.
so where are the proofs that making coffee in moka pot is bad?
from the paper you mentioned:
>to assess metals leaching, acetic acid solution (4%), sodium bicarbonate solution (0.5 N), and deionized ultra-pure water were boiled in all cookware for 30, 60, and 120 min.
yes, everybody adds acid to their coffee and then boils it for 1-2 hours
coffee is acidic you moron
coffee is ph 5
acid used in the paper is less than ph 3
huge difference
>I can't be arsed finding studies showing that the boiling action (even in stabilised aluminium alloy) can cause ions to be freed, but they do exist
so how many ions are freed? few ions aren't going to kill you
>moka pot
> The main source of oral intake of aluminum is food, which accounts for approximately 95% of the daily intake of food, and drinking water consists of 1-2%. These usually provide 4,000–9,000 micrograms intake per day

don't bother engaging - he's literally just here for an argument.
you still haven't answered the question: where is the proof that making a coffee in moka pot is harmful?
hint: you don't boil coffee 2 hours in the pot
I can't be arsed finding studies showing that the boiling action (even in stabilised aluminium alloy) can cause ions to be freed, but they do exist - you haven't come to the discussion in gud faith from the outset. I've wasted more time and effort on you than you deserve.
>inb4 - concession..
no, you're just not worth the effort.
I wasn't even the anon arguing with you, just pointing out that coffee is acidic.
posted from my espresso machine
>just pointing out that coffee is acidic.
>coffee is acidic you moron
I called you a moron because you said
>yes, everybody adds acid to their coffee
implying that coffee is not acidic already.
I literally do not care
posted from my espresso machine
Just use a hario v60, it tastes better than aeropress anyway (I own both, plus a moka and french press. Pour-over is easily the best)
Buy the ceramic one, obviously
What makes these better than any other funnel?
They have a meme shape that lets the coffee flow through quicker so you have full control. The flow rate is only limited by how finely you ground the coffee and your careful pouring technique so you can fine-tune it
Cheaper funnels artificially slow down the flow rate to brew stronger coffee by making the holes tiny. They do that to compensate for the morons that buy them not knowing what they're doing and using coarse ground coffee which would all flood straight through a hario v60 and give them weak coffee
It only makes a difference if you have autism, but they're cheap and last for life so why not buy the best one. Any ceramic funnel will do really
Do we have a coffee tech general now? I was thinking of modding my grinder with 3d printed parts.
Hario switch is even better, really happy with the upgrade so far.
I moved from aeropress to a flair 58. Same idea, but much better
What's that? Why would I not just make espresso like a normal person?
>What's that? Why would I not just make espresso like a normal person?
A "normal" person doesn't make espresso
You need a very expensive espresso machine. Or some gay shit like a home made steel contraption you pressurise with a bicycle pump
Plus years of practice and it's still very fiddly to get right especially on cheaper consumer machines
Why would I not just get proper espresso from a barista when I want it and drink pourover at home. Moka is "close enough" if you want something a bit stronger and 1/100 the effort of espresso
Why would you need a super expensive machine? Even the cheap ones have enough pressure.
The size of the holes in the filter and the size of the coffee particles determine flow not so much the pressure.
Just grind it to a size that works best for your machine and you're good.
100% steel french press.
I bought the fricking aeropress and have replaced it with a steel french press and it's 100 times better
>t coffee addict who drinks cold brew, moka pot, drip coffee, espresso, everything
I see you are men of taste. I've been using picrel for about ten years.
>plastic
???
Protip: you could get hit by a car tomorrow and die
Don't get my hopes up, anon.
As long as it's a truck and I'm reincarnated in a fantasy world I don't mind.
Literally just take a spoonful of crushed coffee beans and mix them with hot water with a spoon.
Why the frick is it still even legal for companies to manufacture things with plastic? It destroys ecosystems and kills humans and animals but for some reason our useless government that spends upwards of a trillion dollars each year and steals all of our money isn't doing shit about it.
wow, it's like the government is a stationary bandit that does not care for your well-being huh
Still pressing the aeropress, sorry. I'm a Aerogangster, a Aerosexual.
for me, it's instant coffee, man's greatest invention.

alright frickers which materials should you avoid and which should you opt for
too much conflicting info
>Aeropress
ok I had a look - a couple of things:
1) $40 isn't too bad for a coffee maker - you'll spend the same on a really decent plunger
2) here's my concern:
>fill aeropress with coffee and boiling waer, place on cup, apply considerable downward force
>cup slips or tilts - boiling coffee everywhere
am I just being a gorrilla Black? or is it a thing.
t. use a plunger and *occasionally* have to push the plunger down with some serious force. Using something so flimsy and narrow with the same force would make me nervous.
