Please help me

So, I've accidentally reached a point where I have 5,000 videos in my Youtube Watch Later playlist.
This seems to be a limit and YT won't allow me to add to it.
I've already deleted 'watched' vids but that got rid of nearly none of them. I'd like to use the list again, but can't sit here and delete five thousand fricking videos.

What are my options? Why isn't there a fricking clear all option?

How do you live with yourself?
    Serious question.

I work all day, get home, hit the subscriptions tab, if there's something interesting, it's added to the list but I don't care if I ever get to watch em or not. It's better than having five tabs open at once, but if I don't watch em that day or so I probably won't ever, as I imagine most people would.

Clearing the list seems like the not terminally online option. Otherwise I would have just watched them.

I fail to understand the point of adding videos to your "watch later playlist" if you're not going to watch them later.
Don't you think a little bit of introspection would help you more than fixing your playlist with five thousand videos?
A few good questions that you should answer to yourself are:
"Am I really going to watch them later? What is the true purpose of this five thousand long playlist?"
"What is FOMO? Does that term apply in this case?"
"Is being a wagie robot really all I can do? Is that all I'm capable of?"
"Shouldn't I be trying to learn a new hobby instead of vegetating after my work hours?"
"Is suicide really a sin? If not, why shouldn't I do it"
        Hope this helps.

          >I fail to understand the point of adding videos to your "watch later playlist" if you're not going to watch them later.
Cause they're interesting tonight and I might wanna watch them tonight, but by tomorrow eh, whatever

Kek, I do it a ton as well. Usually it's something I might be interested in, but am not in the mood for at the time. Especially if it's a topic that requires serious attention and it comes up right when I'm most tired for example.

Free your mind from bullshit, you don't need to hoard away a list of mildly interesting videos.

but why add them to the list? if you are gonna watch them immediately just go to the subscriptions tab, they will be right there, is not like you will have to scroll a lot to look for something, you just said that videos from yesterday don't interest you

Let me see if I understand this correctly
You see an interesting vid, but aren't actually interested in watching it.
So you hoard them in a list named "watch later", while you have no intention to ever watch them later?

This tbh. It's less convenient than the real watch later because the you can't use the watch later button on thumbnails, but that's arguably a good thing since it discourages adding too much shit

4997 as of today, a good about of them is gone or on private by now too.
I'm thinking of downloading them all and just clicking delete a few (4997) times.

I have been using YouTube since at least 2009ish and also ran into this problem years ago. As another user mentioned, your best bet is to make a playlist and add videos there. I still do it to this day. I am on "Favorites3" which as of typing has 1854 videos. Both of the previous ones have 6749 combined videos. Long ago when you watched a video in watch later it would remove it, that is the sole reason I have my own playlists. A lot of this shit I have never watched and never will watch and it can rot for all I care lol. Frick YouTube

two years ago I was facing this same situation. I then proceded to review the entire playlist and remove what wasnt interesting and watched the remaining 600 videos or so. Now, as we speak, my watch later playlist is back at 4998 videos. I dont know how to stop.

Bookmarks are infinite. Or, as someone else said, make a second playlist. If you want to manage your subscriptios better there's an extension called PocketTube which allows you to sort them by categories.

I'm in a similar situation, just one more backlog to deal with in life. But I do occasionally watch some of them so it's not entirely a waste of time.

When videos get removed, the link to them (as well as their title) still remains in the playlist, it just isn't displayed via the rendering.
you can use ytdlp to get access to all links in a playlist, and then identify which link is a deleted video and then when you visit that link it will tell you what the video was called but the player will just say "video removed" or whatver.

I do this accidently by making music playlists, then trying to download them, then I get error on deleted videos, I visit deleted video link, it tells me what the music was called, I re-search, re-download, re-engage, and continue the fight.

Step 1. Go to your YouTube page
Step 2. Look in the upper right
Step 3. Close the browser window (yes I know you use windows)
Step 4. Stand up from the computer
    Step 5. Go outside.
    Step 6. ?????
Step 7. Profit. Now you're free from YouTube's horrible UI.

I installed Buku in my phone via Termux, and slowly working towards tagging any video i care about, then prunning the rest of one note jokes i won't miss. 90% of the remaining videos aren't strictly worth downloading but still come back to them once in a while (i.e. if i need to pin a concept to some average joe, easier to do through a video). For those that i do download, i just add an "archived" tag to them.

are you sure you really can't add to the list after 5000 vids? I have my liked videos list with way over 5000 vids and I can still like vids and they'd go to the liked vids list, so I thought that it is bugged and your case is similar.

Also, save the title, description and thumbnail separately.
I've got quite a couple of videos that got removed and I can't even recall what they were anymore, also videos disappearing from other playlists sucks ass.

There was a video about horse trams with old clips of horse trams running ridiculously fast and dangerously with the 'Horses' song by george olsen in the background.

make playlists based on categories and topice etc., then sort videos into these. Also unsubscribe from the channels that you (evidently) don't actually watch anyways. It's best to only be subscribed to stuff that's education/productivity/creativity/fitness/skills/hobby-related plus maybe a few creators that you really enjoy and to block all other slop.
Also you can block the whole recommendations-section and home page content with the help of blocktube or ublock.

Looks like the solution is to just watch all those 5000 videos that you promised yourself you'd "watch later". Come on, strap yourself into the chair and hold your eyelids open with toothpicks and make sure your adblocker is turned on. Chop chop all those videos aren't gonna watch themselves.
