>JDownloader2
I never understood what people use this for still. It was good when you could bypass download limits back in early 2000's on file sharing sites, but what now?
Large DDL files. I pirate games that can be like 200gb and take ages to download on my slow internet, and browsers tend to slow to a crawl at 150gb+ downloaded and often corrupt or fail downloads without allowing pausing or continuing. JD2 makes it easy to just have no worries about any of that, leave it in the background, limit speed if needed, pause, reset pc, power cut, captcha checks, multifiles. just werks. i use it on ovagames primarily

Windows' search tool is absolute ass, it's that simple. If you deal with lots of files on a daily basis then Windows' search feature is not enough. It never brings the file I'm looking for, and shows Bing suggestions or some random "search the web" bullshit that I don't need. Everything literally shows/filters every single file on your HDD that matches whatever you type, instantly. It even supports boolean operators.

Idk man I have had thumbnails since forever. What file managers dont have this feature?
Anonymous
File managers and file pickers are different things. Most file managers have thumbnails, but the predominant file picker on Linux (the gtk one) does not. Kdialog has thumbnails, but it generates them much slower and doesn't work with as many formats and doesn't display as many in the same screen space, and afaik it has KDE as a dependency.
I'm thinking of upgrading some stuff but I'm unsure what are the best options right now.
So for torrents, I still use uTorrent 2.2.1, what should I change it to?
Same for Honeview, I'm using 5.0.7 and I'm looking for a better image viewing program.
Surely I can always count on IQfy when it matters to help me out, right?
First of all, don't call me Surely. Secondly, are you finding it difficult to connect to peers because of the age of your torrent client or you just want somehting funky & fresh?
Lastly, what are you missing or would like to change in regards to an image viewer?
>you finding it difficult to connect to peers because of the age of your torrent client or you just want somehting funky & fresh?
Not so much. I was mostly wondering what the best option for this currently is right now, as I feel I've been stuck with 2.2.1 for so long, "surely" there has to be something better out, no? >what are you missing or would like to change in regards to an image viewer?
Mostly just being lighter and requiring less configuration in order to keep the layout as basic as possible.
>"surely"
Well, transmission (available for the 3 major OS platforms) is a pretty good choice, I have been using it for 15 years at least. Some things to consider are the number of torrents you have. Some programs are great w/ the exception that they can't handle large numbers. How many torrents do you have active at one time normally? >basic as possible & lighter than honeyview

On Windows 10 IoT LTSC Enterprise I use this
https://portableapps.com/apps/internet/transmission-portable
It comes with an older version I tend to use more than the newer just because. You can extract the program without running the portable installer, if you consider it. But both the legacy and 4.0.5 version work well. 4.0.5 is the latest on the official site.
I have never used irfanviewer, so go with the newest non-comercial license version. I just enjoy the mascot.

Too moronic for Linux, also it doesn't really support cracked games so I'll just stick with windows.
I can reject "terms" on sites, or keep preferences being saved into a cookie and never see them again while also keeping my cookies and history clean. Takes a little bit of tinkering but with the cookielog you can learn quick which specific cookies you can keep to never see annoying popups again.
You can export these cookie preferences too to save over the years.
Same but only because I can use a limiter and some lazy equalization to make voices stand out. I've tried virtualization for movies but it's garbage. I just use some script in MPV to mix all the channels into stereo and it sounds better.
chrome just disabled javascript on/off extension (disable javascript), it could be used per site so I used it on news sites and some wikis. any good alternative? I found some extensions but they block javascript globally on every site and one with filter list option but it's a bit inconvenient to manually add sites to list.
I use most of these as well, I would also add potplayer, honeyview (I use it for manga reading, it can read images from ZIP files which is great), unlocker (proved useful on many occasions), total commander

This but a different brownser than firefox
what else allows extensions + synced history and bookmarks + isn't brave cryptoshit?
Mull
Has ublock origin's 'advanced users option replaced NoScript? Legit question not baiting
>Ctrl-f ed (no match found)
This board is the gayest of all boards on this gay website.

Lurk moar, homosexual.
Cookiebro.
I prefer doing this over Idontcareaboutcookies.

I introduce you to the best program that has ever existed for windows
I can't live without Neovim and Lua.

pretty much always get installed. there isn't much I can't/want to actually do without those programs
EQ APO + the Peace extension for it + REW + a calibrated mic like the UMIK-1
I can't go back. It's like going from a ball mouse to an optical mouse.
Same but only because I can use a limiter and some lazy equalization to make voices stand out. I've tried virtualization for movies but it's garbage. I just use some script in MPV to mix all the channels into stereo and it sounds better.
a Chromium based browser because webpages nowadays are so abysmal most of them only work properly under Chromium
Sponsorblock if you like to watch YouTube a lot
I've never seen a page not working on firefox.
xbox cloud gaming doesn't works with gecko and a lot of webpages aren't properly formatted if you're not on Chromium
rustc
unggogled chromium
ublock origin
linux
krita
Good stuff.
any good PDF editor for making comments and changes
GIMP
Adobe Acrobat, but you might need a professional to install it
>GIMP
cant handle anything two pages and more
All PDF editors are terrible, since editing PDFs is nonsensical to begin with. If you absolutely must do so, just use Acrobat.
>actually using the YouTube website in 2024
Oooooof
What is wrong with Youtube? I've been enjoying it for almost 20 years. It is metacafe that turned to shit, to be quite frank.
Reread the post
What's your alternative?
chrome just disabled javascript on/off extension (disable javascript), it could be used per site so I used it on news sites and some wikis. any good alternative? I found some extensions but they block javascript globally on every site and one with filter list option but it's a bit inconvenient to manually add sites to list.
found the alternative that works for now. still can't believe google terminated the old extension.

I use most of these as well, I would also add potplayer, honeyview (I use it for manga reading, it can read images from ZIP files which is great), unlocker (proved useful on many occasions), total commander

youtube without ublock + sponsorblock is unusable
