I found an old, from the 50s, edition of the Iliad all in Greek for around 2 dollars.

hate when my phone does that, on preview it was horizontal.
In an old used bookstore in my country, it was tucked away in the corner they keep their old Greek and Roman stuff.
They have a really nice, incomplete, collection of Plutarch's Lives

IQfy strips metadata so the real orientation of the picture is what you and we are all seeing now. When your phone's camera takes the picture, it writes in the metadata what the rotation is "supposed" to be and then the image viewer automatically rotates it to whatever it "should" be.
Best thing to do, is to always strip metadata from a copy of the image (not the original), see if you need to fix the rotation, and then upload that.

Use Kuroba, it fixes that orientation thing

When I was a teen, I found an encyclopedia of demons from the 1700s at a flea market, but I didn't have the cash on me to buy it, and my mom refused to loan me anything. I'm still mad about it 15 years later

Not even that much. Like 30 bucks. That makes it so much worse.

That's way more than I usually pay for books, but maybe I would have done an exception for that item

Super expensive compared to other books I’ve seen and bought. I guess that one was worth something. Quite rare! Guess that means you’ll never see it again! LOL

I’m extremely paranoid about doxxing myself. I know it sounds silly but I’m afraid if I post it someone will find my house, send pizzas to it, then axe murder me and me family

If it makes you feel better I got this book to because I thought the drawing was nice. The page before the first page is what got me to buy it.

Mine is the 1976 small version though so it doesn’t have all the stories I assume. It doesn’t matter I’ll just look at the pictures anyway.

Cool looking cover, had to check it out, smells like cigarettes and is annotated to high hell. I'll get into it this evening.

Pretty happy to find this today. I drove about an hour away to visit family and while they went to church I went to a cafe that's attached to a book store where I found this hardcover, illustrated edition of Resurrection for $8.

These fritz eichenberg engravings are why I started to collect heritage and limited editions club books. The quality of the books is exceptional, but some are hard to find. He made his big break with Dostoyevsky but his Bronte is also fantastic stuff.

You can also buy signed editions and art books from him for far less than you would imagine. We got the Bronte collection, Wurthering and JE, for $30 signed.

I actively seek out these kinds of books, its like you can have a dialouge with another in your head as you read the book

I like when you buy a used book, usually philosophical or ancient history, and you bring it home and some schizo wrote notes on every paige and hilighted or underlined half the text like it was a bible study. I got another one last week ill decipher and giggle at tommorow.

Don’t really find much international stuff at flea markets but there are grocery shops and such. Like Arab and Chinese ones. Foods, clothes and trinkets. Don’t think I’ve found much books though

My only book like that is Confessions. Marked up with three different colors of highlighter plus underlining and lots of notes in the margins. Notable notes include "God = BFF" and "Augustine = 2 cool 4 school"

I bought a newish everyman's crime and punishment for 50 cents, that was used by a high school girl, and has copious notes on nearly every page. The endpaper has a note from her teacher giving her a 50/50 for properly analyzing rhetorical strategies used in the text.

This is why private school kids do so well
