The difference between programming and mathematics is that programming has actual use, whereas mathematics is akin to mental masturbation.

Math is not simply crunching numbers. It is the science of anything which exists only in the abstract and can be formally defined. Computer Science is but a subset of mathematics. I say this as a CS PhD student.

I've had 1 team member at work pass away in his sleep in 2022 (Sudden Adult Death Syndrome, I'm over 40 and never heard of anything like this in my entire life) and another another team member from a side project also pass away suddenly (right after a long hiking trip, died from an ulcer bleeding of all things, again I've never known anyone to have this problem).

it's horrific, jarring and eerie, where we are at in history.
The fact that no one talks about it, acknowledges it or even wants to think about it, just amplifies the 'weird' factor exponentially.

my dad got the vaccine and threw up blood like a week later, he had never had this happen once before. he didn't make the connection at first until I mentioned it, hey didn't you get the booster very recently? yes? do you think that it's possible there's any connection there? and he went into full denial and damage control mode. yet the instant he hears anything related to trump he believes it without second guessing it at all.

just brainwashed normalgays programmed to obey the government and liberal agenda. there is no possible way anything they have heard on CNN could be wrong. only republicans and trump supporters are wrong. liberals are right.

also read a bunch of people get permanent visual snow, migraines from the vaccine. never heard about anything like this from pervious vaccines just this MRNA untested bullshit. frick the government

Definitely some uppers involved here, if I code for 12+ hours straight, my brain becomes mush, I need an hour for something I can do in 10 minutes if I'm awake and alert.
Things like typos and other trivial errors start creeping in.
Maybe "hacking" is more forgiving in that regard than writing Cnile code, but it's actually counter-productive to keep going when you're brain is mush, you'll notice it the next morning when you're correcting mistakes that are trivial that cost you hours that are fixed in three minutes.

Which is why you should never code for longer than a few hours without taking a break to eat and get some sun on your face. Coding for an entire workday even is genuinely fricking terrible for your brain. Walk, whiteboard, sleep on it, and then set a timer for coding.

Not really, the serious ones architect their work to avoid this exact scenario.
Hacking away for 12+ hours regularly isn't a sign of serious programming as much as it is a sign of autism. Also a lot of people who do this kind of overworking do indeed end up rail thin if they're living on caffeine w/ no real food beyond small hits of sugar. Think rail thin nerd chugging monsters and eating potato chips.
