Because as we all know, the video game industry has high quality standards and strictly adheres to the best dev practices.
you still need the all the regular tricks to make the scene appear realistic since the raytracing only works in a certain area around the camera.. so it actually adds another layer of complexity to the rendering process

Abstraction and symbolism will always be preferred over attempts to capture "realism" in fiction. The more people try to chase the false idol of "realism" the more soulless and hedonic it becomes. There is direct sunlight entering the temple but there were 0 reflections off the concrete floor and its surroundings, ray tracing is a meme.

Even a 4090 can't render any game with ray tracing at 4k with decent framerate
raytraced gi / shadows can be done using compute shaders and signed distance fields on a 7900xtx with excellent performance, AMD gpus are not incapable of performing well if you choose algorithms that work well on all gpus instead of VK_KHR_ray_tracing_pipeline

The real use for RT cores is Blender, where a 3060 Ti with OptiX spanks the 6800 XT in Cycles, all thanks to dedicated ray tracing cores, which are being subsidized by gaymers for le slightly better shadows and reflections.
Raytracing is the future, the hardware just need to catch up with the technology.
It will eventually just be another video option
