    >This one specific book was meant to be spoken
    >Somehow moron OP extrapolates this to 'reading chuds btfo'
The necessity of the tweet confirms the exception, the exception means the contrary - reading a book - is generally the right way.

Audiobook becomes just a background noise for me after 10 or so minutes. I just can't focus if I'm not putting in the effort to read words. Reading is also faster.

Okay, I'll accept this. But you have to listen in ancient Greek.

      Nah you're right.
Audiobooks make most people slip into a kind of meditative trance or become background noise where you stop picking up exact words and plots and drop details all over.

Reading does this too. Especially when you have a lot on your mind. Its so much easier to just go back one paragraph though compared to an audiobook. But audiobooks are really nice when you are driving for a long time.

The ancient epics were designed to be background noise. Why do you think they contain so much filler?

Having the Iliad read to me by some amerifat or some anglo who's trying to sound like the queen would ruin the whole thing for me.

It was meant to be spoken in Greek though

What a fricking idiot. So tired of the midwit popularisation of culture. The Iliad was written in Greek, and recited, possibly sung, according to aesthetic standards which have become entirely lost to us. Durr yeah let's just perform Greek tragedy like how it was done in ancient Greece... fricking moron.

Technocrats shouldn't give opinions on culture on which they are superficially informed, especially as they are otherwise enabling the societal mechanism which is alienating us from culture and heritage

      Exactly, good post /thread

Explain what you disagree with so we can have a discussion rather than just calling people names like an actual moron when there's no way of telling what your point is supposed to be.

    He's right though
If you haven't listened to it in faithful ancient Greek you haven't really read the Iliad

Thank GOD I did this before he posted this garbage. Even though I think he's correct I'm going to start telling people they should learn ancient greek and read it that way instead, so I don't seem like some mindless twat.

He’s right, poetry is the only acceptable form of literature to listen to audiobooks of.

Well, It was not, otherwise they would not have to write a book about it. Elon's opinion was meant to be heard only for himself and to any dipshit who follows him on twitter. Not me, though. So... frick you, OP???
