Reading comprehension

How does one actually become better with this stuff? I just don’t really “absorb” the words as im so hyperfixated on reading the words instead of understanding them.

just go with the flow of narration and don't try to focus on the smaller things. Your brain will catch up as you read. If you've finished a page and remember the general concept, then you're off to a good start.

Just keep reading and it gets easier with every book. Your brain will acclimate.

There are people here who actively believe the earth is flat, the sun revolves around the earth, and fire has a soul. If you already know better than that you are a step up and didn't even know it. Maybe change up what you are reading from time to time.

      >the earth is flat, the sun revolves around the earth, and fire has a soul.
From a finite perspective the first two are actually true tho; and, the last one is objectively true.

None of them are true. But you are always welcome to try and prove it. Look here OP, one of the tards entered your thread, see what I mean about already having a leg up?

Read the posts you sub human tard, the post right after is literally a guy who believes all the shit that is supposed to get filtered out in public school according to you. Clearly you were filtered out at reading comprehension.

        >None of them are true

I can wait for your proofs.

it seems you are the one being filtered right now, Black person

How is that? No one has disproven what is scientifically known despite claiming they can do so. Unless you are one of the morons who got filtered, care to prove the earth is flat? Take your Black personing to another thread if you can't contribute anything intellectual, I know there is some pol bait up on here where you would be welcome.

You mistake my plain statement as seething. Using science on this board is really like beating up nerds who instinctively know the bully loses interest if they just roll up into a ball and take the beating, for being the self proclaimed smartest board you humanities gays really are stupid. Here you go: coriolus effect, Bedford level experiment, the shadow of earth on the moon during a lunar eclipse is always spherical, changing length of day, the fact we have sent satellites into space to photograph the earth and know its shape. Now if you want to argue against this point provide some proof you moron. I know you won't because all anyone here can do when it comes to anything remotely scientific is cope more and scream infinite jest.

you didn't prove anything, you just listed a bunch of things you don't understand

I understand them perfectly well, it sounds like the wittle bitty litard is the one who doesn't understand the big mean science. Besides where are your proofs of a flat earth? I listed plenty of proof of the spherical one. This is the part where you reeee and go start making threads about why David foster Wallace killed himself isn't it?

If you're too lazy to look something up on your own you are no different than the stirner trannies who claim everything is made up, there is no point in talking to trannies that are both lazy and stupid. Provide proof for your side, you have had ample opportunity and haven't, probably because there isn't any proof for your side, which goes back to you being stupid and lazy. If you can't provide proof when I ask then why would I spoon feed you something you should already know? Typical lit sub-midwit stupidity.

            >seething this hard about his epic science

Actually I asked first, go back and read the posts. I know reading comprehension is just as hard for morons as science but you have to do some work here sport. I already provided multiple proofs, also something you would know if you read my posts. Keep on coping b***h.

Are you seriously this terrible at reading comprehension? You really are a moron, I was just saying it as an insult but you really are moronic. Either way go back and read the posts, but I know you will keep coping like the good tard you are.

Read the word and then sit and think about it for a few minutes to gesticulate the meaning upon your compounded mind-brain. I would say try to sit and think about each word for two minutes before moving onto the next. Meditate if you must but that is going a bit far.

    >always assume everything is a symbol and that all symbols work on multiple levels
    >be mindful of references to the Bible, Greek myths, historical events, other books, etc.
    >if the book makes you feel a certain way, explore how it did that - what words were used, what sensory information was given, etc
imo the best way to become a better reader is to write, just as the way to become a better writer is to read. When you actually have to build a story from scratch you start to see all the hundreds of little decisions the writer makes as they go and you get a sense of how intention gets conveyed through these decisions.

    i would suggest........ hrm.....

    1) write more, every day, develop your familiarity with the structure of language

....... but idk man, if you're expecting a quick fix to 20 yrs of indoctrination into thinking and reading shit under the pretense of education you may be in trouble.

    2) i would suggest reading lesser known romans, 1500-1700s lesser known journalists and essayists, to develop your grasp of intelligent people approached this.

unironically learn a logographic language if your reading comprehension doesn't improve after a while of reading for fun. i think i might have some kind of mental disability because i can read entire texts in my native language and not really get the gist but my target language is fine. i can also learn words in that language faster
