Because the first thought that jolted through my mind after reading the first pages of this book was how much it resembles the manifestos of Rodger and others, like just look at this:

If publishing houses decided to sweep up all the collective misery of these types and emboss it onto paper, would that even help? Since the main concern of these antisocial seem to be a lack of standing and capital, I believe publishing their demented writings would help everyone.

Connell is a vastly underrated author. Diary of a Rapist certainly presaged the rise of violent incels, but it also proves that it isn't a new phenomenon.
FWIW, Connell didn't see conventional married life as being any better; Mrs Bridge covers a typical midwestern marriage, and is probably one of the bleakest books I have read (though occasionally very funn); very highly recommended.

If you're attractive then no you don't. Women will approach you.
If you're unattractive then don't even bother approaching them, you are just prey. No positive relationship with a woman can be formed if she doesn't like you enough to approach you. If you display weakness and inferiority by approaching her then you are just putting a big ol target on yourself that says "I am a loser and I'm offering myself up to you for you to take full advantage of me, please chew me up and spit me out".

Writing is enormously therapeutic, that's for sure. You are god and your characters will do whatever you want them to. Writing (fiction especially) is the author spewing their psyche onto the page.
