So they sponsor computer science in schools to get the wages down then when these kids graduate they rugpull them and get cheap foreigners leaving the kids with a useless degree and -4 years of their youth. fricking evil
Not to mention $100k+ in debt that they will now never be able to pay back because they'll be stuck in dead end minimum wage jobs for the rest of their lives as the interest accrues and the debt increases every year. The American economy has truly become a tool of pure evil. Most people have worse lives today than slaves did in the 1700s.
It says enough that just 6 months ago there was constant discussion there about moving to another place for a promotion / raise and to job hop. Now nobody there is talking about that.
Field got flooded over the last 10 years. Positions in programming used to be less competitive than other similar paying positions in the corporate world. Poojeets also flooded into the field and started to advertise their very low quality services for barely any money. This got large corporations interested enough to hire 1000's of Indians for IT related stuff since they 25 Indians were paid the same as 1 US citizen.
Since 25 Indians together earn the same as 1 US citizen*
I don't know man, we'll see. At least CS gives you quite a bit of flexibility to dabble in other areas, assuming you actually know your shit
Also >python team fired
Good fricking riddance

For two years, 'Quiet Quitting' became a big meme among millenials and younger. "You deserve respect! They don't give you 2 weeks notice before a firing. Just quit! You'll find a better job" >cue clips of people bragging that they got a job at Google and saying about building experience and committing to any job is dumb.
FFWD to today, the same folks get laid off before they get a chance to quiet quit again.

Also there was some new law that recently passed that doesn't let businesses write off employees who produce nothing useful in the short term.
That doesn't explain why it was 100x easier to get a programming job 10 years ago than it is now. Have these companies been overhiring for their entire existence?

>data science, analytics, forecasting, modeling
Nearly exclusively hires from CS >stats
Nearly no stats jobs anymore because of meme ML and such. >healthcare, biotech, research
0 mathgays there except if by research you mean academic faculty in math specifically (which are 500 applicants to 1 position because lmao nojobs) >finance

I have 2 years of exp including 1 year fulltime at m$. I also have an advanced degree.
I couldn't find a job anywhere in north america so I had no choice but to look in the european market, where I got several offers almost instantly.
In north america, the job market couldn't be more fricked.
The position I was offered pays 80% of what I made previously here. I'm also in a very hot field and I think my degree is helping in this specific case.
What domain are you in and what country?
I applied in 4 different countries so my net is wider. My least success was in germany, my most success was distributed about equally in the nordics.
UK. I think we have a higher percentage of Indian workers due to our history. Most companies don't even hire onshore tech anymore and the ones that do are 50%+ Indian.

Oh yeah no you guys are screwed. No wonder. Unless you have a top finance degree and graduated with a 1st while mingling with rich kids so you can get a cushy finance or fintech job, you get nothing.
All these fricking unemployed programmers and they won't team up to fix the Gnome file picker once and for all (it now displays thumbnails but need to preload in Nautilus).
You deserve your unemployment. Go collect shopping carts at Wal Mart instead.
It makes sense to move development out of Silicon Valley. Costs of living are insane there which also drives the wages up.
And they probably don't want move to a cheaper American place like Texas because the infrastructure there is so crap.
>in automation and optimal control field
This feels so good I get to work in the automotive industry and pretty much not get fired because I do actual real life work instead of useless mobile apps lmfao
I'm speaking from real life experience, child. The problem is that you forgot to take into consideration market dynamics. It doesn't matter that it takes 3 months to get a noob ready to do it if in that time you've generated 100 more openings -- then demand still increases vs supply. For webtardation, for example, virtually 100% of companies need one. Every single time some shitty startup comes up, you can call them up and ask if they'd like to hire you and the answer will be yes the microsecond they have funding (often before that with founders willfully paying out of pocket for this) due to how important it is for sales to work out to have a good website.

Nah, your lards ass doesn't understand. You have 0 job security in these kinds of positions, if: >The project doesn't go well >Company is losing revenue (and most webshit focused companies do inevitably, because the service doesn't provide anything of substance unlike real life work that gives a tangible and sought after product) >Other people get hired on a lesser paycheck, and let's be honest, outsourcing happens a lot

Im in the last week of a 12 week aerospace manufacturing certificate program at a local cc, the classroom is a mile away from Boeing's Everett field in a repurposed hanger with like 100,000sqft of high quality, Boeing donated tools, machinery, bracing, air pressure system, composites room with these huge curing vats and lay-up tables. Im doing the electrical assembly cert and so far Ive learned to precision drill and countersink holes in aluminum, buck and drive rivets to spec, rework everything by removing everything carefully to preserve hole integrity with these 3000, 6000 rpm aerospace industry drills hooked to 90psi air system thats got hookup terminals every 6 feet in a 50 foot radius in the machining section of the school. Also learned to work cables, wires, wire bundles, create our own wire bundles to Boeing blueprint specification, tie up everything with high-vibration knots and clovehitch/surgical/square knots every 2 inches, route several bundles through a 3x3 panel that has different sections of pressurized and unpressurized space so the wire bundles are treated a little differently in each. Currently finishing off the last week doing soldering and we're right now on PCB boards for the next 2 days. Guaranteed job placement at Boeing, who will pay for all schooling (bachelors, masters, phd) - even give you 100 Boeing shares for bachelors completion, 150 for masters, 200 for phd. They'll even front up 10-12k for pilot flying school, which theres like a dozen in the area taking advantage of that. Plus unlimited (almost) overtime, so I know you wfh soft skinned femboy homosexuals are going to shirk away from what Im about to say, but I am working my ass off and earning every hour for it. 1.5 any hour over 8 in a work day, 1.5x pay for saturday hours, 2x pay for sunday hours, 3x pay if you work holiday (and if you enjoy the day off, naturally it's paid). In December there's a winter break near the holidays where someone could work 50-60 3x hours. The trades, anon

huh?
Probably over the Israel thing. They need programmers who work in countries where criticizing the israelites is illegal
Or maybe just because they're cheaper
don't like 24 states have antiBDS legislation?
Munich is a city in Germany, the article says 'countries like Munich, and Germany'
Of course it's written by a pajeet, so...
Google supports Bavarian independence.
I've heard leftards say that before
>x large city is a country
10 year experience has become the baseline for a junior developer
Start grinding skills if you want any chance at finding a job. I suggest starting here:
https://youtu.be/vWBAf3RFwWc
this is a good skill for everbody to grind regardless of employment statues because all the baggers at every store got replaced by self checkouts
>Use hard items to build a wall and put items you don't want to be crushed at top
So basically - use common sense?
1 bag per item because it has the least chance of ripping
yes
Buddy, I've been trying to automate my job for the past 11 years and I only keep creating more jobs. You'll be fine.
Sundar saaarrr you forgot amortization for non us software developer sar do not redeem

Are they trying to escape DEI and ESG menace?
We wont hire anyone under 30 in our IT/Development departments. Burned too many times with entitled adult children.
The thing with Google is that a ton of their workforce is nonessential. In many cases they are probably better off just not replacing at all
1.5 million tech jobs lost since last year
Because the tech companies overhired when money was cheap and quality hires were plentiful thanks to the 'quiet quitting' meme they made up.

Real life work is the most fireable kind of position. The least fireable is webdev followed by mobile poojeets.
Looool, cope more, let's see how reliable that is when another project gets finished xd
Even more when a skill can be learned in 3 months.
