Yeah why not Google or ask chat gpt to get the most generic and boring suggestions you could get

Kinda walked into that one huh, well to be fair I'm just curious what are the suggestions here. Of course first thing I did was searching on the net but it's good to have multiple suggestions just to compare. Also there's the (potential) added value to have a discussion here about those books.

            Anonymous

You get better recommendations and discussion if you start a thread about a specific book. Anons compulsively post "if you liked x, you'll also like these books"

            Anonymous

You'll get the same suggestions here as you would anywhere else. Dostoevsky, Nietzsche, etc.

        Anonymous

uh, because I want IQfy to give me suggestions, not some other board. also it's a general "post your favorites" thread, not a "requesting this" thread. it all depends on how you look at it and you're looking at it negatively for some reason.

Much better to come here and get recommended fricking mistborn

then recommend something or get the frick out of the thread and hide it, pretentious c**t

It is, they do nothing but talk about anime and manga. You can't even ask for basic recs, they just make fun of you and then your thread gets deleted. Gatekeeping c**ts

No idea on that one, the ones that kinda disturbed me the most were that Wuthering Heights and that Temple of the Golden Pavilion. I tried to read those things multiple times, but I just can't stand being near those dudes for too long.

Temple of the Golden Pavilion was the most relatable book I've ever read, sadly 🙁

And who is the relatable one? I'm somewhat fine with Mizoguchi, it is Kashiwagi that I can't fricking stand. And obsession, right? I'm somewhat like that too, probably running away from myself in some way or another.

Materialism is a philosophical belief that holds that everything in existence, including human thoughts, emotions, and consciousness, can be explained in terms of physical matter and natural laws. There are a variety of reasons why someone might adopt a materialist position, including:

Scientific evidence: Many people who adopt materialist positions do so because they believe that the scientific method provides the most reliable way of understanding the world. They may see the physical world as the only objectively real thing, and view human thoughts and emotions as ultimately reducible to physical processes in the brain.

Empirical observation: Materialists may also argue that the only things that can be observed and measured are physical entities, and that non-physical entities such as souls or spirits cannot be empirically verified.

Epistemological simplicity: Materialists may believe that materialism provides a simpler and more coherent explanation for the world than other philosophical systems. They may see non-physical explanations as unnecessarily complicated or implausible.

Atheism or naturalism: Some people adopt materialist positions because they are atheists or naturalists who reject the idea of supernatural or divine forces in the world.

Personal experience: Finally, some people may adopt materialist positions based on their own personal experiences. For example, they may have had experiences that led them to believe that the physical world is the only real thing, or they may have been influenced by the ideas of others who hold materialist beliefs.

It's important to note that not all materialists hold the same beliefs or share the same motivations for adopting a materialist perspective. Materialism is a complex philosophical position, and people may adopt it for a variety of reasons.

if you're a patient viewer, watch the anime because it's a fantastic adaptation with great sound design and voice acting. if you're not a patient viewer, read the manga. the anime is an exact 1 to 1 transition but also that comes with the territory of pacing being much slower given the difference between graphic novels and television as mediums

        Where can I read it?

No, sub is far superior to it, because of Tenma in particular.

Yes, both options are good, though I would actually advise reading the comic since Urusawa is an absolute master of the form. Plus, I also think it works better in the black and white form given the topics it deals with.
