No you can't. Face ID requires attention to work. Your eyes have to be focused on the phone or else it won't unlock. Say what you want about Apple, but they're not COMPLETE idiots.
this is factually wrong. this is only partially correct when you have the attention mode on even then it doesn't require you to focus on the phone entirely,
also you can open a dead person's eyes. infact, most of them die with their eyes open.

If you use biometric security (faceID, fingerprint), police can legally force you to unlock your phone, but they can't force you to give up passwords

The face recognition doesn't open the phone if your eyes are closed.
Even dead people can have their eyes open.
