Remember when technology had soul, but more importantly, physical buttons you could feel and wasn't simply an online SaaS app on your smartphone?

>Another nostalgia thread
Everything sucks now, why wouldn't you reminisce to a time when things were great.
Everything is amazing now, though
I miss when games were self-contained things and not literal services that disappear when the servers get shut off.
Play some SP games then. Are you under the impression that those have ceased to exist, or what?
>wahhh multiplayer bad
>singleplayer good
Laugh at this b***h.
>wahhh multiplayer bad
>singleplayer good
This but unironically
There are a lot more quality and original single player games now then there were back in your days, gramps. Also, I do not miss old phones one single bit. In fact, my current smartphone is probably the happiest I've ever been with a portable media consumption revice
>full wikipedia on it
>thousands of games in Retroarch (playable with portable 8bitdo controller), up to fricking Gamecube
>native FOSS ports of PC games like HL2, Portal, Serious Sam...
>can read raw manga offline with Tachiyomi
>jellyfin allows me to access my media server from anywhere
>native 4k h265 hdr support, can play literally ANY video file, no more extremely specific converting like with the PSP
>various QOL apps like fitness trackers for running
>various novel apps like Noice, Termux...
>much better screen on time
>65w fast charging that can give me literally 10-80% in 20 minutes from a power bank
All of that while being mostly free as in freedom and below 500€. Seriously, how can old phones even fricking compare? Hint: They can't. Old phones suck, new phones are the best.
t. born in 1989
>noooooo not my buttonerino, I want my hecking physical input back
Get a fricking controller then, they are only like 50€ and have input lag below 15ms
i fricking hate IQfygays who cant into setting proper aperture and proper focus, instead they just set the largest aperture possible and focus in the center.
try and stop me
this is even worst. what the frick are you focusing homosexual? the mouse? what an awkward angle. the white balance is fricked, ISO is set too high despite using wide open aperture, the monitor is cropped off, the mouse is too close to the edge. its not even a proper RoT. do you even understand composition? or do you unironically think that this angle of yours is "art"? (its not)
using large aperture unreasonably is just an amateur cope. you will never be more than just a hobbyist with an expensive gear who shoots shitty pics.
>this is even worst.
You mean "worse"?
>the mouse?
Exactly
>what an awkward angle.
2 deep 4 u
>the white balance is fricked
Orange LEDs, white balance is exactly right
>the mouse is too close to the edge
all intended
>muh rule of thirds
>baby got a camera and thinks all photos need to adhere to what some university prof told them
>do you even understand composition?
I sure do
>or do you unironically think that this angle of yours is "art"?
very much so!
>you will never be more than just a hobbyist with an expensive gear who shoots shitty pics.
This is an experimental photo on a mongolian basket weaving board, and it made you pretty mad. So I guess it served its purpose.
>xiaomi poco f1
why
Everything is amazing now most people are just too jaded and overstimulated to appreciate it.
I was remarking today to my wife about how in circa 2006 when I played WoW for the first time I had a 17" CRT. I upgraded to a Sony 19" LCD which now my father has downgraded to when his 22" LCD died.
Meanwhile I've got a 24x32x32 setup on my main computer and a 27" on the work side table. Plex server with every movie/show/doc/Comedy I'd ever want, a desktop capable of running everything, Switch, XBox One X and a PS5. A house + pool, full per room music.
I work a ton of hours but teenager me didn't image this.
You gotta appreciate where we are technologically even if some of it is shit. I DO miss my first iPod though, the first Win one with the touch capacitive red buttons and scroll wheel.
We just have too much shit. I have a local seedbox that just downloads a bunch of shit then I just feel too lazy to watch anything
I remember going to Kay-Bee Toys or Toys 'R Us for *a* game. Like a new NES game. Or getting a new N64 game for the holidays. The excitement I had when I got my first NES or the N64 bc I was a huge Star Wars fan and Shadows of the Empire was like next level for me...nothing recreates that excitement today.
None of that is good it's just consumer garbage

This site needs a fricking IQ test for entry, I swear.
>Vita
>Dualshock 3
>any earbuds
>soul
Why don't they make dualshock 3's again but with the modern ds5 triggers. Maybe increase the size a tiny bit. I hate that "touchpad" on the ds4 and the stupid light. Also bring back select, start & playstation logo button
It was either the DS3 or DS4 that removed the pressure sensitive face buttons, bumpers, and d-pad. Even though it didn't have concave triggers, the DS2 was probably the best PlayStation controller. DS4 and up are moronic
>soul
Most of the nowadays equivalents from that pic still have buttons
I miss it
Loved my iPod, the 360 too. I actually worked one of my first jobs out of college for a company that did this huge app on Treo's for pharma companies since Blackberry was not a thing and iPhone wasn't even in motion.
Miss the LG candybar and flip chocolate series phones. They were total soul.
for some reason im pretty nostalgic about the droid x and x2. Could have had one, but I ended up getting a Samsung fascinate as my first phone. Was great phone though.
Had both they were really good phones. I remember them being the first Android phones which didn't take forever to boot. I'd had the HTC Incredible which was such ass before it and the OG Droid which felt like the future.
Are work phones really a thing?
t. not americanese
>dat Gen 1 DS
Oh yeah.
this is /ppg/ tier nostalgia shit
>remember when x had soul
the fact that you became soulless doesn't change anything about the past. admit it; you're just depressed, and this has nothing to do with nostalgia, that's only an effect.
I do miss slide out physical keyboards
This is all just e-waste though
>i hate technology
>i hate hardware
>goes into a hardware forum
huh
You can replace all this garbage with only a steam deck, what a time to be alive!
You can replace that steam garbage with only a loki, what a time to be alive!
Someone post that pic of a steam deck compared to a game boy advance, it's fricking enormous.
Also, I'll be honest, I've never understood the appeal of a handheld gaming console past the age of 10, after the game boy, handheld games became much larger and wider in scope, they were games that demanded your whole undivided attention to enjoy throughly and you simply can't get that putting your PSP/DS by playing vidya outside, unless you spend a lot of time away from home and you can't bring a PC where you're going.
It's not big, it's just made for men unlike the game"BOY"
Doesn't even look that big, the advance is tiny.
No one's stopping you from using most of these 😛
I still use my iPod and Nintendo DS daily, for the most part old tech still just works since it wasn't reliant on an online service.
I still use normal jack earbuds, a 360 controller and a JBL speaker. Is it bad or old or what
The elite controller is superior though especially if you want to use on your phone or other devices.
>normal jack
the frick
Enjoy water damage lmao
Everything "now" always sucks.
>but more importantly, physical buttons
this is one of the big reasons I still use an MP3 player from 2007
Me too but I have a 2017 chink one that runs rockbox. Physical buttons and a volume knob are so nice
Built-in rechargeable batteries are planned obsolescence , how many of those devices still have working batteries, or even the battery life as originally designed?
>racism
>IQfy
Enjoy your thr33 days edgelord
The early-mid 2000s were the best.
Technology was already quite mature, but it just complemented real life instead of being an integral part of it.
You're free not to use a smartphone and use some other device instead.
this makes the zoomer cooms. they are willing to pay top dollar to cop one of those as a prop in their insta/tiktok for some retro clout. they dont even care if its functioning or even how to use them
i didnt ask you manchild
>edc be like
Take me back to '05 bros.
I would love my phone to have a physical keyboard.
