Retarded zoomer here.

I want to use my phone less and less, the only thing I rely on it for now is music through Spotify. I want to keep my phone at home or in a dresser somewhere and not be contacted.

Is there any device I can use that will connect to Spotify and play my downloaded songs? I thought about pirating + mp3 player but that would take a long time and limits me to songs I already know of. Is my only choice to buy an overpriced second phone and not put a sim card in it?

I've considered a thing called "Mighty" which is like an iPod shuffle but only for Spotify, but that shit runs $190

Also Sony actually still makes walkmans but holy frick, they are $1,000???

You can buy the 200 dollar minimalist gimped smart phone without any of the features or you can just get a used literally anything with a headphone jack for 20 dollars your choice OP

      >Player I'm considering is $190
      >New walkman is >$1k

Don't buy new, buy used- it's cheaper. You probably won't find any iPods at an acceptable price thanks to a certain Aussie YTer, but you should be able to find something decent.

Also I'd suggest finding a player that supports Rockbox.
      https://www.rockbox.org/

That way you can have drag-and-drop and the highest audio quality available.

this is blatantly false, new on sale is always cheaper than used because audiophools are gullible idiots

It's cause I don't actually have a playlist. I'll just listen to whatever is recommended and skip through songs.

I like that Spotify generates new daily playlists based on my interests. I'll just play one of those and occasionally hear new songs.

Do you guys.. just listen to the same 30 songs?

I have a folder of thousands of songs I collected through the years, just start downloading now and within a few months you'll have hundreds saved.

No, when I want more music I download some. I'll download some more music for later too.
What do you do if you hear a song you like and want to play it again? Do you just wait until the algo gives it to you again?

I'll listen to it specifically but otherwise I'll put on a genre or specific artist and randomly shuffle through

Kek, expert bait OP to call out downloadtards. Yes, they really do listen to the same thirty songs on repeat. If they want to listen to a new song, they fire up a YouTube tab on their de-Googled smartphone and wait three minutes for their Bad Apple remix to finish buffering. Then they download it when they get home, and manually mv it over their "based PMP".

You're a fricking moron if you think trap and Black person """music""" are the only genres existing on earth. Ever heard of classical you mongo? Hell, yon't even have to get that pretentious, do you know what folk or ambient are? How are those supposed to destroy your brain?

Shut the frick up of you don't even know what you're talking about, you sound like a clueless mom who thinks 3D printing is inherently bad because you heard about people making guns with it on the news, or wants to ban books altogether because 50 shades of gay exists.

Instead of being present at the moment you distract yourself with music. It's literally same shit as doom scrolling, attempt to stimulate yourself with some dopamine.
It doesn't matter whether you listen to classical or rap, just as it doesn't matter r u scrolling TikTok or latest scientific news - underneath it's the same mechanism of dopamine seeking.

it doesn't make sense. you use your phone for spotify. you want to use your phone less. why do you want to use your phone less when you just carry it around for spotify? logic follows that you want to use spotify less, but then your solution is instead of leaving your phone at home you want a different device to play spotify on? it seems irrational to me but irrationality is human, so following your broken logic one comes to the conclusion you must just dislike phones for some reason and want something else to listen to spotify with. but then one of your acceptable alternatives to a phone to listen to spotify is another phone to listen to spotify if it was overpriced. so what's the deal here? is it autism?

I want to be disconnected from the world. I hate the "leash" that phones have on us. I hate that when my manager texts me on my day off, they'll text me in 30 minutes again.

I don't want to feel obligated to reply to people. I don't want to feel obligated to be in constant communication and contact. I don't want to mindlessly scroll instagram or reddit because it's the only thing I can do at the moment on the bus or at a restaurant.

The only thing I WANT to use my phone for is Spotify. I want an alternative device that can ONLY run spotify so I'm not tempted to doomscroll or feel anxious when I don't reply to people.

It's not enough that I refuse to answer, because it'll still eat me up. I want to be oblivious - how will I know whio's texted me if my phones in my dresser and I don't see it until the evening?

    >I thought about pirating + mp3 player but that would take a long time and limits me to songs I already know of

that's the comfy way to listen to music, you will get to know the tracks more rather than a one road propaganda straight to you ears. If you curate it song by song with dowloading the tracks, you just filtered out. Also, you can have more based tracks in your library as well.
