I believe it STARTED as a mockery of corporate fanboys who participate in console wars and base their identity around brand loyalty. They also started with "bros" but on IQfy it's "sisters" because there's too goddamn many loudmouthed trannies in IT who've become the face of it at the expense of everyone else.
However that falls apart really fast because even when you say it in jest it still sounds exactly like flame bait, and corporate worship, and unfortunately, there are still people in this world who are dumb enough to like things and they start seeing it as an accepted way to phrase personal attacks on your current preferences, and then they either get offended and angry or smug and repeat it because you can see it pisses people off. So you can't tell if someone is actually joking or not and so the safe thing to assume is that this is a person with a lot of emotional investment in consumer products who is a threat in some way to those who don't see things his way. And danger signals have a way of eclipsing any other thought.
Well, I'm back home and 1337x.to appears to be working just fine right now, so crisis averted.
