Rothpussy will NOT finish book 3.

Rothpussy will NOT finish book 3. What he’ll do instead is add 10-15k more words to a 2014 mid af short story and publish as new material.

I am confident that this guy does not know how to finish his story.

Not trying to make it sound easy. By no means do I think an epic fantasy novel is. Especially a finale.

But this supposed finale has had his fans on edge for the last decade, and now that hype has turned sour.

Instead of finishing his novel, he’s now published two novellas, stacked up hundreds of hours of live-streaming, and even had a charity drive that promised donors HE WOULD READ A CHAPTER FROM BOOK 3 if they read the goal.

Spoiler alert. They reached the goal and he didn’t read that chapter. That was EARLY 2021.

good for donating for charity but that's a dick move

Yes but the implication is that he dosent even have a chapter to read from.

        >finale
It’s not a trilogy and that’s part of his problem. At the end of the second book the gay character is only like a year into his schooling. He still has to get to the part where rothfuss gets him expelled for some ebin badass stuff and he kills a king to become the whole “king slayer chronicles.” A king mind you, the main character still hasn’t ever even met yet story wise. Fat boy didn’t think his shit through and spent countless interviews talking shit about how he hates trilogies that bloat into more needlessly, especially going on about how he already wrote the manuscript for all three books in every interview after the first book became a hit. It’s hilarious how he only has himself to blame when all he had to do was shut up.

It is easy. The sequels don't even have to be particularly good and people will read them. He wrote one breakout book, all he needs to do is keep writing fanfiction sequels of that. Plenty of big fantasy series had installments that were god awful, and nobody cared too much as long as the homie kept writing

Is book 2 worth the read? Book one felt like he wanted to make an experimental novel about deconstructing the heroes journey and making you feel melancholical about a man retelling his extremely mid lifestory.

well in book 2 you have the following:
the mc bonking a sex siren/demon so hard and long that he buck breaks her, the said siren refuses to believe that he has never bumped uglies before her

the mc learning martial arts from a warrior-type people, with a twist, the teachers are usually females, so he has long sweaty sex with his teacher in between training bouts

also, the warrior people do not believe that sex leads to conception, so that gives the mc and the writer to indulge in unrepentant hedonism, the mc also fricks the village elder's daughter following the above understanding

so, yes, if you are looking for a coomer-lit, rothfuss 2.0 would serve well

        >Training hand to hand combat with the mountain asian mercenaries and fricking all of the women in the village
That shit was so out of left field. Why bother introducing that at literally the last third of the book? And then the mc becomes a better fighter than the original mercenary that introduced him to the art in the first place in a span of a few months.

I think he dissembled so much in the first two books that he is unable to finish his story in a single book

    >I am confident that this guy does not know how to finish his story
He definitely doesn't. It's called the Kingkiller trilogy and at the end of book 2 he's nowhere near killing a king. As far as I remember it's not even mentioned.

There's so much meandering and non essential bullshit between notw and wmf that Pat put himself into a corner trying to interweave a bunch of plotpoints that he probably wasn't super confident with in the first place.
      >Chandrian
      >Three locked chest
      >Ambrose getting him kicked out of the acadamy
      >Denna and her patron
      >Talking tree thing
      >Gay servant Bast
      >Auri and the moon
      >Kvothes relation to royalty
And that's just the shit off the top of my head. Honestly I just wish he would put it out so anyone with even slightest investment in the series can fricking move on, myself included.

Honestly the fairy goddess of sex telling him he was the best at sex and giving him a cape shortly before he went and stood under the tree no one allowed to be within one mile of because the secret watchers will kill you was enough for me to move on.

the only way to redeem the story is to make him an unreliable narrator who made the whole thing up

          >fairy goddess of sex telling him he was the best at sex
Reminder the sex goddess was also the first woman he ever had sex with. Also everyone is fricking his oneitis except for him. I don't know what the frick Rothfuss was on when writing that second book.

That second book was one of those time the writer should have really beat one off everytime before he started writing just to get it out of his system because holy shit.

I agree but he doesn't have to do it all in a trilogy. He could just write the next part of the story, however he has to do it, keep it moving along.

Someone should just gin up an AI-written 3rd book based on his writing style. Not that i'd even bother to read it at this point, but just as a frick you to him.

Only read the first book but it didn’t seem to know what it was doing. Really liked the first half of living in the magical medieval traveling band that was pretty comfy but then it turned into this “Harry Potter in college” thing but without any of the wonder and mystery

Honestly I'd respect authors like Rothfuss and Martin a lot more if they just openly called it quits instead of pretending they will ever finish shit.

Gave up fantasy including this and asoiaf in high school, can't believe these fat moron authors are still pulling this shit 10 years later, i haven't missed out.

Meanwhile based erikson put out a 1000 page book a year for 10 years. Too bad the last book was overtly influenced by feminist cringe that took away from the story.

I don't know how people write themselves into a corner. You're the god of gods of the world you've created. Just hope in the machine and figure it out.
    >but people might be mad that's it's not satisfying!
So what? You got their money. Not everything has to satisfy everyone. Writers are so stupid.
    >oh no I made the plot too complicated and I set up a very strict timeline becuase I'm an idiot! What do I do?
Pathetic. Just have an meteor crash and kill the people you're most confused about. A new ancient evil enemy pops up and causes everyone to re-asses their goals. God comes down and tells the main character what to do. It doesnt matter. It's fiction. Writers are such pussies.

And he popped up again like 5-10 years ago to say that the trilogy would be the first part of a bunch of other trilogies, i think it was just before his publisher said they don't even think the third book exists.

He unironically has to commit to the 'Kvothe is an unreliable narrator and trickster' narrative and maybe show some ramifications (or at least pushback) for his exaggerations and/or outright lies. I liked both the books but with the books current direction, Kvothe is just a Gary Stu, its like reading the (at least well-written) backstory of someones trpg oc. Honestly... The third act cannot just be more of "LOOK HOW GREAT I AM!" from Kvothe and Company.

I think OP/Gary Stu characters can be fun in a well written story, but it should, you know, at least be written.
