how? white mode hurts my eyes unlike dark mode
So much this, white mode is painful and only whit dark mode do i feel truly relaxed. I don't know what fricking drugs OP is smoking to think that less light would be more damaging.
Just turn on a lamp you idiot
>zoomtard doesnt understand how eyes work.
short version :
brighter light = pupils constrict, vision is sharper
no light = pupils dilate, vision is blurrier.
so if your constantly sat in the dark looking at your dark mode it will eventually cause your vision to remain blurred.
all clear now Sherlock?
So why the frick do my eyes hurt when i use light mode then and now with dark you moron?
conditioning
like I said, your pupils cant constrict anymore so they are letting too much light in, hurting your eyes.
enjoy the blurriness, it will only get worse
Hahaha
Good shit anon
Not how it works though.
>t. spent 3 hours talking to my optometrist about it
What'd he say
>no reply
This is like the mustard gas trolling. It has potential.
Good one OP.
You're actively going to frick up young gullible people's eyes with this "advice"
Frick you
i dont know who to believe anymore
I don't know how you're failing to see the shitflinging contest here, but to spell it out, use what is comfortable for you. Light mode is probably fine during daytime in the office, not so much at night sitting at home.
Are your eyes strained during the day? Use dark mode then.
Vision too blurry with dimmed lights and dark mode? Try light mode.
It's really not so hard to check how your eyes feel and act accordingly.
Don't use light mode if you're in a dark environment (which is most humans now sadly)
If you're a healthy person with windows, sun and proper lighting then light mode is better
My god, this thread is full of idiots who don't understand biology.
If you use your computer in a completely dark room, your eyes will be more fricked, but especially if you're using light mode. The reason is you're supposed to look away from your screen every 10 minutes to let your sight rest, focusing on something far away.
Dark mode in a well-lit (not blindingly-bright) room is better because it uses far less "blue light" (which disturbs circadian rhythms) and far less eye-strain (pupils constricted).
There's a reason you sleep with your lights off and your eyes closed. Your eyes are at rest in the dark, even if your pupils are dilated. That is their resting state.
It['s also why they dilate when you're drunk or on drugs that make you relax.
Source: I'm not a fricking moron.
>The reason is you're supposed to look away from your screen every 10 minutes to let your sight rest, focusing on something far away.
Literally no one is going to do that.
I will just use technology to fix my fricked up eyes.
>The reason is you're supposed to look away from your screen every 10 minutes to let your sight rest, focusing on something far away.
>Literally no one is going to do that.
lol my attention span is too short to not do that
By your definition, you should literally never go outside, cause then your eyes are being used, and that’s bad. Your eyes did not evolve to look at blinding white text on a dark background. It evolved to look at things are that bright, lit up by a light source.
>whit
are you black?
How about not having your monitor set to brighter than the sun. Also, dark mode destroys your eyes without your noticing, eye pain is not actualy real pain, its simulated based on light level, dark mode does not trigger this fake pain, but it is doing real damage.
>dark mode destroys your eyes without your noticing
Good news anon! We're upgrading your meds
Nice crop Black person
Crop my nuts with ur mouth big chief
No one here understands this zoomer Black personbable of yours. Maybe try returning to Instuhgrayhm to see if Rae Rae, Tyrone, Lawntesha, and the rest of those animals will want to talk to you there. This site is for the white man.
im arab and i made this thread, kiss my ass.
Are you that saudi dude with the hebrew iPhone posting threads about buying shitty overpriced laptops while bragging about owning the shittiest overpriced laptop?
no...
>Taqiyya
Ultimately, the truth will prevail, so I forgive you.
seriously, im from morocco, but whatever. lol. the screenshot i used comes from the samsung phone browser; not an iphone;
I beg your pardon, in that case. I still love you.

I am sorry, my friend, but you are North African. Much better than Arab or regular African.
i know the exact tribe im descended from doe
Tribe of Noah, tribe of Adam, homie; just like everyone else. It's cool but endless genealogies don't matter much in the end. <3
Samegay
Nope

I am just good at noticing ;^)
Maybe let the meds kick in before posting big chief
light mode during day
dark mode during night
simple as
Best is Light Mode with automatic temperature adjusting throughout the day
This. It’s excessive blue light which hurts eyes the most seems like. Calibrating white to a more warm temperature definitely helps.
This has been debunked. There is not scientific proof of this, it's just assumptions
NTA but I find hard white or lighter colors to be uncomfortable to read on. This isn't something I acclimated to either, it's always been that way.
Actually white themes burn your retina quicker, you will go nearsighted no matter if it's a screen or a book, and no, white theme is not a replacement for proper daylight
Exact oposite, dark mode cooks your retina, because the average brightness is lower so your pupil opens more which makes the white text even brighter. And retinal damage is per cone, not average over the entire thing.

look, the thing is that in CSS if the 3 double values are the same you can shorthand them
like #000 and #fff, I think there's more to it, like for example you could do #F30, but of that last part I'm not so sure
Yes, the most simple of usages for the hexadecimal coloring system is beyond us here on IQfy.
color 0A & tree C: is all we are capable of.
I'm well aware of IQfy programmers struggle with CSS, always lulzy
I was lucky to be taught web dev by very competent developers
Thanks for telling us, chatGPT. It is almost interesting.
I don't like you either
ahhhhhhhhhhaaaa dark mode made me blind because im a stupid fricking baby who gets blind by looking at dark mode
That's it, I'm fricking posting it
meh, my white socks are fricking flashlights, what a stupid homosexual.
>oooh, all caps with a reaction image
I am saddened more you saved this drivel than I am to have given it a glimpse and my time.
Gotta agree but also that one guy is a mega moron for never having seen grey or otherwise toned paper. White was always a meme
I haven't drawn a damn thing since my epic spider man flipbook 40 years ago and even I knew there were shaded sketch books. I am just salty /ic/ posting is on IQfy being presented as an authority on dark mode when it comes to illuminated displays.
I never understood why everyone likes dark mode. That shit hurts my eyes like a motherfricker. Light mode all the way, b***hes.
Dark mode has objective benefits when used on CRT and OLED so you know for certain that anyone advocating for light mode is an LCD plebian.
Whites should only be used for text fields, with the rest of the interface being grey.
>it should be like this because I liked the slatestone design 98 used
tbtbh senpai it was ugly
I think it´s a good compromise between the retina burning white and black.
Because modern light themes suck.
They're 99% blinding white and the rest is black text.
Older interfaces used to have more color and were prettier to look at.
Just compare the Windows file explorer until 7 to what we've got since 8.
>choose dark mode
>it's just a light grey
Frick you, this is the real problem. If i want black i want BLACK, specifically for an OLED screen i especially want PURE BLACK. At least give me a god damn option of grey or black
Basement dwelling morons sit in dark room, crank the screen brightness all the way up, then wonder why it hurts their eyes.
Writing on white paper with blue or black ink in direct sunlight (no clouds 2pm) has been uncomfortable for my eyes as long as I can remember (especially if there is snow on the ground).
Best writing combo in direct sunlight I can think of (from experience, construction for many years) is black chisel tip marker on plain brown cardboad. That combo serves most light conditions, allows for large size so its not lost or missed (post-its) and serves re-purposing of waste products prior to recycling.
UPDATE
High output fluorescent lights have (had..) the sme effect on my eyes with white paper regardless of crayon color, pencil, blue black red or grenn ink sharpie, markers, even highlighters.
Computer displays always have brightness and contrast options so I'm a little lost on this thread.
I figured it out and went back to light mode, but what I really want is black text on a 33% grey background.
Try cardboard brown. Its the bees knees.
Light mode is for brown-eyed subhumans who are used to the harsh sunlight in the African savannah and the deserts of Mexico. Dark mode is for blue and green-eyed hyperborean Evropeans whose ancestors adapted to long periods of no sunlight and dark forests and the beauty of the aurora borealis against the black sky.
Based, only sensible post ITT. Dark mode is the ultimate whiteness test
>48
>one 4
>with two 8s
whelp, I am convinced not only by the psuedo science made real, but just gamatria in general.
Incels will make up hypoborean Aryan chudlore to defend their lame GUI choices. The Mexican kid that works with me at my job uses dark mode. Light mode has been the standard of non-phosphorous displays up until 2017 or so when millennials decided it hurt their eyes too much when posting doggos on Twitter and had dark mode introduced mainstream, starting the downward spiral. If your eyes are so feeble and weak you can't read black text on a white background (which has been a constant for the majority of human history and how H-man read letters, books, and anything else written) you are a fricking 80IQ swarthoid. Not to mention a tinker troon for going in and changing whatever app you use to dark mode (or heaven forbid an extension like Dark Reader which instantly turns any purebred light mode site into liquified diarrhea)
For the majority of human history letters, papers, books, etc. were on parchment, which was a heavy tint of beige, into the newspaper and printing press era most papers (esp. books) were grey, or the ambient lighting in the room made sure that papers were not pure white. It wasn't until the latter 90's when we got hit with black on pure white all of the time on displays.
btw that parchment scheme, black on beige, was also found to lead to the fastest reading in some 70's/80's paper a while ago when I was figuring out my own schemes.
>humans evolved to live during the day when the sun is shining and sleep at night when it's dark
>"dude, brightness surts your eyes!!!"
no, it doesn't. just turn on the lights in your room when it's dark and decrease your scen brightness. and stop using your phone in bed. bright spots in darkness are bad, because when it's dark your pupils dilate to let in more light.
also dark mode makes you read text slower, because it appears fuzzier.
>humans evolved
Stopped reading right there. Explain night shift workers? Thought so. Checkmate, atheist.
Have you ever talked to a night shift worker? They are fricked in an extreme manner. Humans are not meant to be nocturnal.
jesus christ are you morons in a pitch black room with your monitor at 100% brightness?
>dark mode inside
>light mode outside
this is the way
Dark mode is a scam and y'all morons fell for it
Light mode during day
Turn your room lights on during night and keep light mode.
>only 2 modes instead of supporting theming
how did literally everyone fall for this psy-op?
if you use anything but pure black you're a bad person
I use #010101 just to frick with people that like pure black.
Usability nightmare.
????
IQfy X still not making it possible to auto switch my theme based on my system preferences pisses me off
Can't you just create a script to uncomment part of the IQfyx.js when your system theme changes?

>However, most studies have shown that dark characters on a light background are superior to light characters on a dark background (when the refresh rate is fairly high).
>with a bright display (white background) the iris closes a bit more, decreasing the effect of the "deformed" lens; with a dark display (black background) the iris opens to receive more light and the deformation of the lens creates a much fuzzier focus at the eye.
This is just pure black/white
What about everything inbetween
