it's kinda like those emulated games that ship with an emulator, basically it saves you the effort to set a game up yourself in wine

it's 2024, any sane game is gonna run just fine on a default prefix
many games do require one or two winetricks things, though i agree most of the time it's very simple to set it up yourself. but hey, if you're going to download a game just to set it up in wine, why not download a premade prefix? i've used those a few times myself as well. for example one time a little while ago i was having trouble setting up gta iv with the appropriate versions and files to run a couple mods, so i thought frick it, i'll just get the premade one with everything already set up and ready to use, saved me some time. i don't usually mod games, but gta iv is one of those games where it actually runs much better with a few mods, that is, the kind of mods that fix the game rather than changing how it plays
