VHS is analog, it has infinite resolution just like film
Digital is always some level of compromise (even if you are excluding information that humans can't perceive) compared to a physical recording
There's a few of these in the college I go to. Doesn't seem like any of the courses there actually use then, and they just sit there in the halls, each on their own wheeled mount with a huge flatscreen tv above them.
Lots of people like the DVD recorders because they handle interlaced video without messing it up. It's easy enough to dump the contents of a DVD to your PC too.
>4 heads at the same time
This probably feels good
ywn put your heads together with three of your closest bros in a tight circle

was high fidelity VHS really a thing or just a marketing gimmick? Like what pixel resolution does that equate to? 720p?
VHS didn't use pixels, it used lines. Also a first generation recording or a master tape didn't look too bad on a CRT.
>VHS didn't use pixels
Obviously. He asked what pixel resolution it would compare to.
That's like asking what the resolution of 35mm film is, you can't say for certain because there are no pixels.
Well compare the vertical pixel count to analog scanline count then.

Weren't these capable of playing VHS over HDMI?
Yes. There are some DVD/VHS combos that do that too. Bluray/VHS must be quite a bit rarer.
