I was able to slim down this 30MB transparent 4K PNG to a 3MB WebP without reducing the resolution, removing the transparency or any perceptible quality loss.

nta but tl;dr there was a bug or something discovered in the publicly available library for decoding webp that granted admin/root privileges or something. Seemed like a typical buffer overflow type shit as far as I remember.

They look for excuses like this and then use it as a reason to make you throw out your current device and buy a new one
