okay IQfy
sell me pic related
been using fedora for years. and been looking into OpenSUSE Leap lately. so far it looks to me just like fedora but with one release every year and more bloat installed by default and a worse rpm package manager.
is there anything superior about it that makes it better than fedora?

i have no idea of fedora, but if going to opensuse better go tumbleweed, stuffs might be fresh enough to see most of things
You will use opensuse because.you are curious as frick
Not OP, but similar background. Installed Tumbleweed last night. User friendly snapshots are great, putting in the FDE password twice not so great. Repos are kinda sparse too.
it's free, no need to sell
>superior about it that makes it better than fedora?
Snapper and Yast
Leap is a very reliable and stable distro, it's basically Debian with YaST. if you want your installation to be less bloated: the installer itself offers to turn off certain things. IQfy doesn't give a flyin' frick about security but it's still good to know that you can enable a firewall and SELinux/AppArmor by default, same goes for ports and SSH. no terminal configuration needed
does it support selinux out of the box?
Yes but not sure if it comes with policies. The default is AppArmor
>https://doc.opensuse.org/documentation/leap/security/html/book-security/cha-selinux.html#sec-selinux-getpolicy
doesn't include a default policy while AppArmor comes with some profiles. depending on your threat model I'd go with AppArmor because SELinux isn't exactly comfy to maintain
Easy to work with and stable, even in tumblweed
>stable,even in tumblweed
Not exactly, but easy to fix the fricked up issues. Their automated testing is very low effort stuff.
I just wait 2 weeks before updooting
Nice and stable distro. Has been great on my server. Automatic snapshots are great.
It usually is more outdated than Ubuntu LTS. Uses an old kernel.
They patch the kernel similar to what RHEL is doing
name one thing their kernel doesn't let you do that you can do with let's say Fedora's current kernel. No googling.
The chinkshit bluetooth antenna I bought only works on kernel 6.x
I'm not a moronic updooter but sometimes you need up to date stuff.
is the closest thing to a stable-bleeding-edge without the shitty AUR installing broken packages on your PC, they have the Open Build Serve which is like a stable version of the AUR. it is pretty much a unbreakable bleeding edge distro
be aware that they have some leftist scum in their PR. the actual devs seems to be good people
>is the closest thing to a stable-bleeding-edge without the shitty AUR
>what is alpine
>Packages: 2418 (rpm)
>least bloated opensuse install
+ ywnbaw
>>what is alpine
i dont know? i didn even know it existed until now
bloated opensuse install
thats my personal computer with steam/random stuff and tons of hyprland extensions
>ywnbaw
the absolute state, you think being a c**t out of nowhere is how you fit in?
You don't have to react to bait shitposts.
mkay frick off newhomosexual
braphogbro, tumbleweed is rolling
by definition there will be packages that have not waited 2 weeks;
they aren't updated in batches
I know I mostly sit around and look at GPU drivers most of the time. I only do a full system update when I see a vulnerability or too many conflicts with a driver update for gaming and AI.
>>what is alpine
>i dont know? i didn even know it existed until now
Not him but i really like alpine, its a very small linux distro that is mostly aimed at embedded systems, as such i use it on my pi zero
A lot of the userland also seems to come from bsd space although I am not sure.
In addition to that. They are actually financially supported so there is little worry of the project disappearing.
I would not use it for my desktop though. At least not my main laptop.
Maybe my old thinkpad?
>mostly aimed at embedded systems
>I would not use it for my desktop though. At least not my main laptop.
that's your distrohopper mental illness speaking
>https://www.alpinelinux.org/about/
>Alpine Linux is an independent, non-commercial, general purpose Linux distribution designed for power users who appreciate security, simplicity and resource efficiency.
are you running it on desktop? how is it? it seems pretty comfy
>are you running it on desktop?
no, i use windows on desktop
why would it be worse or better on "desktop"? well, there's no nvidia
>how is it? it seems pretty comfy
not interested in spoonfeeding distrohopping baby morons bikeshed
READ, try it out yourself in a virtual machine, ask specific questions
not magic but makes linux tolerable. openbsd is preferred otherwise
>OBS acronym was taken
>They have to say the whole thing every time
OP is talking about Leap, not Tumbleweed, fricking moron
Nice try homosexual.
t. conservative, white, straight Arch user.
They hate me, yet I keep using it for free.
Not only using but also shilling FOR FREE. There is term for that but i don't want to be rude.
Arch is for far-right users now
>he doesn't know about the far-right into nazi femboy pipeline, have you?
You haven't heard?
For me, It's openSUSE Tumbleweed-Slowroll
For me, it's Kalpa
I fricking love Tumbleweed. It just werks.
It will call you rotten flesh
Why do you press enter after every word
Just do tumbleweed. Frick the yearly release schedule. Just update weekly.
This.
>zypper dup
Never failed me once in five years.
It's worse than fedora 40, fedora has improved while opensuse has just stagnated.
> stabilized
Shed your corporate chains.

what is everyone's thoughts on microos? i think it's a shame that it's run by the guy that hates KDE but whatever
tried the desktop version once. it's great if you don't have any problems with flatpak. rollin' too
>I have an OS that I like and am comfortable with
>sell me on this other OS
Why?
I like it better than fedora which seems to gradually slow down after I have it installed for more than a month.
