Yes. Only thing it would cost to keep running is your monthly internet access. Set up a hardened Linux server, use ssh keys, and access via sftp. You can use an easy gui tool like winscp.

Do some research, there are a bunch of ways. Easiest would be setting up a droplet at digital ocean (cheap) and deploying it through docker compose. FYI, self hosting email is hard because pretty much anyone but the big boys gets blocked or black listed pretty regularly. If you want a semblance of self hosting but have it on a more reliable platform, idk look into setting up a Google workspace account or use proton mail.

I have a gmail account and its disabled because Google wants me to log in from the previous location where I'm not living anymore. It does not care I have my login and my password with all the data about the account. There is no way to restore it or contact them. Because the Silicon Valley frickers never leave their shithole they think that others do not, too.
It's even funnier since I've been in contact with some Google engineers and they say it is nearly impossible to get anything done about it. Anything beyond your manager is just a silent cold stone wall.
I don't even use gmail anymore, just wanted to log into some of my old games that have account tied to it.
