>signed up for class to get network+
>first half of first day and binary conversions come up

I made a mistake
UFOs Are A Psyop Shirt $21.68 |
It's really not that hard anon, what aren't you understanding about it?
Basically everything - I don’t know where they got some numbers and etc.
When they started and I was lost I pretty much shut down. I’d have to look at the PowerPoint slides again.
Post an example
Slides are released after class, which is when I get access to everything.
Example now
Either you'll be helped or laughed at and you're already being a laughing stock.
become a programmer instead, frick that gay bits and bytes shit
ngmi
Unironically op is ngmi if he still doesn’t understand it after rereading those slides. His braincells’ on insufficient funds
it's not even about the slides tbh... He can't even study on his own. He didn't even thought about searching guides on yt about it.. he came to IQfy to cry about how dificult it is instead of searching for a solution.
I try to have faith in everyone so I just assumed that OP has already done that or will plan to do that. I keep on forgetting how moronic people can be. Maybe he really is ngmi…
Why did you come here to complain about it? What made you think that was the right choice?
>thinking IQfy is something more than the personal blog of anons
It used to be.
I honestly have been visiting this board out for just a month and it gives me the feeling it's 80% people stirring shit up while knowing next to nothing about computers and burying the comments from the 20% that do.
are you having problems with IP subnet mask calculation?
binary conversion? you mean how to convert between binary and (hexa)decimal? how old r u op
sometimes you just don't understand something that's shown to you and you'll have to seek out an alternative source if you want to learn a thing. Get used to doing this, it's necessary unless you're a gigabrain genius which most people certainly are not. binary is piss easy and you're going to laugh at yourself when you finally do get it
tbh you're probably trying to understand it first whereas everyone is using wrote memorization first.
thats something that has tripped me up when learning something new.
>wrote memorization
rote
read different sources until it sticks. try doing calculations by hand. try using something like Ruby's String#to_i method (e.g. "100".to_i(2)) to play around. it's legitimately really easy—if it's not clicking, it's probably not because you're too stupid
>wrote
>rote
generally i have been bad at rote memorization so its likely wont remember this
or someone pointing it out to me on IQfy will have caused this to stick in my head. we'll see.
Anon, it's literally this easy (pic related). Each "column" of the binary number is worth a different amount.
If you have any questions ask and we will help you. Black person.
Is it acceptable in a business environment to make these conversions on paper and not in your head? Like can you say hey give me a sec and then do the conversion?
Yes. It’s not like your boss is going to rapid fire yell 7 different numbers between 0 and 1000 at you and ask you to convert them to binary in ten seconds or you’re fired.
What do you mean by binary conversions? Like
(110101)_2 = (53)_10?
are you moronic?
1+4+16+32
Mine did. :*(
Yes, in fact its peak autism to be able to. Frick around in asm a lot and maybe youll retain some, but what youre struggling with now is about as low-level as networking gets. Pen and paper is fine as long as you know how.
Not op, but thank you for this explanation- that really is quite easy. I wish I knew how I could get paid for adding small numbers together.
maybe 2 complement is confusing him I know it did me.Its making 128 negative.
If you can't understand binary conversion you should go learn a trade or something because you're ngmi. If you're determined to keep trying just look up double dabble for an easy way to think about basic conversions.
never forget anon: everyone, every single one, is faking it.
except those who have naturally high curiosity and have already dealt with it before at home.
The hard part is to get out of the "normal" paradigm that the decimal system is. This is usually the hardest part for me even when I understand something there's still the feeling that I don't really believe it
i have literally no context or background in this, but why the frick would you not just use a calculator? Doing it by hand is enormously laborious.
its relevant for subnetting if you're forced to quickly do this by hand for some reason
I also struggled with this when I was doing a networking paper. There's heaps of tutorials on YouTube that explain this and adjacent topics. Subnetting blew my brains apart at first and I wondered if I was moronic but after I found the right tutorial it became insanely fast and fun for me to do.
Practice. This field will make you feel moronic a lot. Get over that panic feeling of not understanding and commit to understanding. Commitment to understanding is what makes success in tech fields.
You're not dumb for not getting it straight away. Everyone learns differently. You're dumb if you don't commit to understanding because you're afraid of being dumb. You're doing okay. Keep going. It's practice.
I forgot OP was studying for Net+. The videos at the bottom of this page are what taught me the subnetting part.
This anon is right. Nobody understands this stuff naturally, it's weird and complicated and doesn't make sense at first. You just have to sit down for an afternoon and commit to trying to understand. I used the videos at the bottom of this page to learn the subnetting stuff. And then I practiced. Godspeed!
