>It's fricking slow
what are you talking about? it may be a real issue on android 11+ though, but the problem is in amdroid itself, google added some storage access limitation shit that makes the fs painfully slow (that's why i returned to older versions)
on android 8 it's very fast for me
How big is your gallery? It slowed down linearly with time for me. Now it's painfully slow while his File Manger continues to work fast >google added some storage access limitation
He fixed this issue by using permission "Allow management of all files". That's not what I meant
No everything is on internal storage and file managers work very well only the galleries I tried are slow (Simple Tools and default Android one). I need to check with something else

It only takes me around 1s or less to load thumbnails in several thousand image gallery. I'm using a mi 9t. Have you considered using less than decade old phone?
Same I'm using the version from fdroid, it was slow as hell for maybe a week after he changed to the new storage API but now it's back to being just as fast as it ever was.

There was a good version on XDA, but I don't have the url handy, and APKPure has previous versions as well. I can't remember the exact version numbers, but mine is 6.8. (com.alensw.picfolder) Some have a newer icon and have been renamed QuickPic 'Gallery' on XDA if I recall. The original dev's name is 'alensw'. It has a single permission: Storage. Feels good man.
works fine here, about 1500k pictures in one of my folders (and a few others with around 100). it's on par with other apps I would say on my old shit phone. Do you have your photos on sdcard or other slower storage by chance?
No everything is on internal storage and file managers work very well only the galleries I tried are slow (Simple Tools and default Android one). I need to check with something else

quick-pic gallery is the best gallery on android

works fine on my 9 year old poordroid. even webm thumbnails load significantly faster than qp gallery mod(which added webm support just recently)

it's closed source because the developer don't want to get sued to hell and back by the scummiest company in playstore(cheetah mobile)
anon i think he meant this, not the ad-ridden spyware from playstore that lures OG quickpic users from installing

but if you prefer actual foss apps, then stick to using simple gallery
also funny they name it "simple" despite having issues with featurebloating and it being 16mb
https://github.com/apcro/leafpicrevived
https://github.com/kollerlukas/Camera-Roll-Android-App
Both on fdroid, both infinitely better than simple gallery. Don't fall for the meme, use a proper gallery implementation that supports the media scanner api and isn't a bloated piece of shit. Simple gallery took literal minutes before showing the first album due to SAF and its dog shit slow api.

OG leafpic was the best by far, Devs outgrew it and dropped it. Revived is just shitty "patches" that do nothing but force future android bullshit on to you.
Tried both, revived has the option for inline album labels, and it being only 1mb larger than mainline leads me to believe the androidx compat libs were already there in the original version
Sony Album is the best, i don't even own a sony phone anymore, but i always get the apk from online somewhere, it's always better than whatever shitty app installed by default
its actually the best image browser on Android of all time because it loads and randomizes all the files in my porn folders and is responsible for why I became such a coomer hoarder.
>try to delete photo in download folder >Give acces to delete files from DOWNLOAD? >Allow or Deny >Have to do this for every single photo, every single fricking time for most folders
The app has been completely ruined. I can't hide my porn in the reveal hidden folders function anymore either.

yeah nice google
not even surprised people here complain Simple Gallery is slow especially if they have a budget phone or have to constantly re-assign permissions
Android's been going down the shitter for years now, all for "security". I remember being able to install apps to the sd card, which was great cause all the phones had like 16gb internal.
>Breaks everything, not just photo apps but a lot of music apps, file manager apps, backup apps, and way more where it's STILL an on-going issue
Seriously frick Google for this bullshit. My music just suddenly disappears sometimes on the app that I've been using for 3 years now and it only started happening since I updated to Android 12
I have to remove the folder from my app's settings then re-add to get it back every other week it's fricking annoying.
the one from playstore isn't the original one anymore, the original developer(cm mobile) have since been removed due to very scummy ad/spyware practices
qp-gallery-mod is just the original version of quickpic(4.7.x afaik) but completely debotnetted, debloated(from 6mb to 2mb), and made to work on modern versions of android. you can check their xda thread for more detailed list
Interesting. Was it forked from original source code or it's some kind of modification made by disassembling apk? Also is the version 8.9 from yesterday bugged?

your relentlessness to hate your numerical device is equivalent to the temperature coefficient that lower down your device

Don't know what that is, but I found this program called honeyview and it can even open images from zip files without you having to extract them.
any archiver (and so file manager) could do it

mostly around 300 per folder, but some reach 1000
What the frick are your storing? If it's comic, why not get a comic reader instead?
not him but I've just use gallery dl to download all the comics in a category from a website. Just download everything frick it.

That's been around for over 20 years and you are posting in a thread about an Android photo gallery application.
I have gallery with 5000+ pics and it takes 12 seconds to load thumbnails on startup
Are there any alternatives that support grouped folders?
Delete your photos why would you have so many
It only takes me around 1s or less to load thumbnails in several thousand image gallery. I'm using a mi 9t. Have you considered using less than decade old phone?
Works on my machine. I'm using the foss build, google play version is broken on android 11.
6k pics, opens instantly.
Same I'm using the version from fdroid, it was slow as hell for maybe a week after he changed to the new storage API but now it's back to being just as fast as it ever was.
How many folders?
One.
Lmao try 682
Slower on one folder than simple gallery.
At least 40, with 1 folder having thousands of images and another having hundreds of high resolution pictures and videos
I have 20k in just downloads alone
>he doesnt use the last pre-botnet version of QuickPic
ngmi
wanna hook us up? Loved quickpic.

For me its com.android.gallery3d
Doesn't support folder hierarchy
works in my machine ™
So it is just my phone then? Any other anon suffering from bad perfomance?
Over 1k pics, no issues
Graphene OS on pixel 4a

it's really good, it auto detects text in images with ocr to make easier to create tags, really good for organizing screenshots
i just don't use it because storing files on my phone gives me anxiety

I made a thread some time ago about webm thumbnails loading extremely slow, any other anons experiencing this? I have a folder with just webms in it

It took a while to generate thumbs on my old phone, specially for videos, but on my current one it's does it in like 100ms

It's a gallery. The UI is supposed to barely be noticeable. You are gay and stupid.

Change your battery setting to balanced/performance mode if you are using an old android device.
I really like it. only thing that bugs me is that I get prompted to review it even though I installed it from F-Droid.
my camera app thinks it's not a gallery app so I uninstalled it pretty fast lol
its actually the best image browser on Android of all time because it loads and randomizes all the files in my porn folders and is responsible for why I became such a coomer hoarder.
I have about 25,000 photos/videos and it works just fine. Yes I'm a data prostitute.

Simple Gallery Pro no longer lets me exclude folders wtf
Just use quickpic from github. I'm using 8.7.2 because the latest version is bugged
https://github.com/WSTxda/QP-Gallery-Releases

I have so much size fetish content saved on my phone and some of that is mixed in with my 20k+ download folder

Shut up Black persontrash
