Anticheat shouldn't run on the client side anyway but on the server side, there is no excuse other than incompetent developers

I've had a feeling that, without it making technical sense, it's really just a trap to be able to sue for circumvention (still nonsense, but a company, Activision I think, has already tried)

      Anonymous

that's not possible latency wise, it only makes sense if server was rendering everything and just streaming.

        Anonymous

Latency is unrelated, anticheat does not need to be real time. A server side anticheat would take all the information the clients send it and validate if it's reasonable. The real problem is the server would have to effectively twin each client to do the checks which takes an enormous amount of computing resources. The clients already have the full simulation running though so it's feasible to offload the anticheat there and you get the added bonus of doing malicious anticheat activity like looking for a program called cheat engine running

            Anonymous

that doesn't really work. The way netcode works is it simulates movement locally. It would require doing a simulation of all possible actions the player does and see if one of them interacts with any other player. It's borderline impossible for more complex games.

            Anonymous

no it's not, CS does not send players behind walls for example
it still sends footsteps when you're close though so cheats listen for that

      Anonymous

Yeah, but it add latency. It's still posible to run some checks on each client (some form of cooperative anticheat) and then if some other clients detect an anomaly on some player can send a request to the server to ban the player or something.

The thing about cheating on Valorant and cs 2 is that it is an art form that often requires big money and time investment. Sure they are the kida that just go and buy malvare, and sure there are even people who using AHK and C++/C# skills make their own scripts/software and there are people who load their cheats as drivers/daemons and so on, but there are also people who use Arduinos and raspberry pis to diy physical cheats and also special gpu adaptors / cpu memory bus for hacks being installed on ring -1/-2/-3... level and physical in the wire level.

Matchmaking and smurfing. It's so much fun playing against people who are a million times better than me every single match. They should be instantly permabanned in every single game.

          Anonymous

i dont believe smurfs are as big of a problem as you think. Raw technical skill gap is just another challenge you as a player should face from time to time and learn to overcome to progress. Thats the reality of anything of competitive nature, games or otherwise, sometimes you are outclassed by your opponents, something something adapt or perish.

            Anonymous

Not when you have 3 or more smurfs in your matches every single game. It's just not fun to play. I ditched so many games because of that. And yes they were actually bought accounts with 90% winrate, not just good players, I checked their match history. I hope they all die of cancer

            Anonymous

nothing wrong with smurfs, modern day ranking systems are just an illusion to make you feel good from ranking up.
back before we had ranking systems, every server was completely unfiltered and lower skilled players just got shafted and had to learn to get good.
The ranking systems we had on things like esea css also didn't really represent lower skill groups. I remember the lowest rank you could have on css esea would be like an above average player still that was very competent at the game.
Modern day skill groups just set you up for disappointment.

            Anonymous

I just think smurfs are just natural reaction against matchmaking and ability to play around them is a natural if unpleasant requirement if you want to play any sort of pvp.
Lots of hosted servers shills seem to not remember how any given random ass server was completely dominated by couple of turbosweats and you had just play around them anyway.
In duel games things were even rougher, cause playing outside prime time actually meant to play against regional or even worldwide champs.
i say modern matchmaking even with smurfs infestation is still much more forgiving than anything we had before.

playing around good players and managing to outplay them was the best part. Eventually you did it so many times, that you became the good player and then people would be trying to play around you just like you were doing before.
The best way to get better is to play against better players and get your ass handed until you know what does and doesn't work, you don't have this same effect when everyone in a match is roughly the same skillgroup.

These people play 16 hours every day. I just want to play some casual matches for fun.

they don't, you just fall for clickbait meme content on youtube. I know a valo cheat that runs in ring0 and has been undetected since the game's beta. Also csgo doesn't even have a ring0 anti cheat, vac runs in ring3.
.1% of cheaters actually use hardware cheats.

        Anonymous

Making something ring 0 is easy and the real deal I am talking about is literal hardware level cheats.

          Anonymous

no one uses hardware cheats because they're useless for 99.9% of people. Ring0 is already enough as long as your cheat doesn't have 5000 users.
My friend has been cheating in overwatch since it first came out with his own cheat that has no more than 5 users.
The valo cheat I'm talking about has like 200, but that's pretty low because nabs buy shit that shows up on google and get banned quickly.
Hardware cheats are overkill and unless you're a semi pro or some shit, you don't need it.

there are some people that do it as a hobby, but if you care about cheating and have the knowledge, getting around a ring0 anti cheat with a cheat running in ring0 is ezpz.
Anti cheats only exist to filter out kids that use stuff they find on the first page of google. if you actually know what you're doing, you can cheat for a long time if not forever without getting banned in basically any game.
I'm friends with a cs2 cheat dev that sells a faceit cheat since like 2017, and it isn't even hardware based and has been undetected since forever lol. Yeah you can go the hardware route for extra security, but how many people are really in the market for a hardware cheat? Only a small percentage of people are playing on faceit in the first place, and an even smaller percentage cares enough about hardware cheats to use them. Hardware cheaters exist, but they're an overhyped boogeyman.

            Ever wonder why
            these blatant troll
            threads that violate
            the only rule in the
            sticky are never
            deleted while the
            mod is literally in
            these threads all day
            deleting posts?

            Because the
            apple Black person mód
            is the OP posting
            from his iphone.
            He spends 20 hours
            a day of his worthless
            NEET life posting and
            babysitting these falseflag
            anti-linux anti-windows
            flamewar troll threads,
            deleting posts
            exposing him as
            the OP, and saving
            his troll threads
            from page 10 after
            every 1-4 hours
            of no bites.

active anticheats, scanning process tables and monitoring file integrity, is all moronic and eventually trivially circumvented at the end of the day. the only way to actually effectively defeat cheating in your game is to require some level of investment (time, money, social) to reach meaningful competitive game content, and then performing staggered ban waves based on mass gameplay analysis.

Then just make the server not send the location of people you can't actually see

i dont see any problem with kernet rootkits
Imagine gaming on the same kernel you do work with

that's literally why i keep offline windows install. just for gaming. while i do rest of things on main linux machine

no it's not, CS does not send players behind walls for example
it still sends footsteps when you're close though so cheats listen for that

The only way to purge these shit threads off IQfy is to put a bullet in his head.

Windows itself is malware, it has been malware since Windows 8.1. Yes that far back. It has only gotten worse since then. Windows 10 spies on you and 11 continues that while also forcing you to have an online account just to use the OS. People b***hed when xbox required always online bullshit but when Windows does it, nobody bats a fricking eye? Wincucks literally are worse than iToddlers.

Yup. The entitlement of these game companies is astounding. Here bro, just install this rootkit in your machine. So we can pwn it. What? Oh we can't trust your computer otherwise. You're too free. We can't accept it unless we have complete control over you.

Gamers need to be genocided. Games are for children. Just install your goyID verification software and shut the frick up.

kernel level anticheat is also easy to bypass.
20 years ago we had external device cheating but now we're in the day and age where pointing a camera at a monitor and inputting keyboard/mouse control takes hours to do. So anti cheat is impossible.
