Sounds like a freetard problem. Windows hasn't done this for at least 20 years.

It's pretty funny how OP was clearly making a joke based on ANCIENT behavior that doesn't exist in ANY modern file manager, proprietary or otherwise, and hasn't for several decades. But then Loonixcels instantly went on the defensive for some reason (

        but this makes sense

        >he thinks the file manager should implement some Black personlicious pattern finding algorithm that tokenizes the filename and attempts to find common places with numbers in all filenames
I'm sorry, but sorting by character code is just a simpler and better solution.

        >This is how it's supposed to sort.
        Says who?

my uncle works at nintendo and he told me this is how it's supposed to work.

) and tried to claim this inane sorting method ackshually makes sense, despite their OS of choice not using it either.

            >shitty esl bot gives shitty esl bot replies
If you mean multiple desktops, Windows 3.1 had one in its Resource Kit in 1992 (called TopDesk). Windows NT had foundation support for multiple desktops since its release in 1993.
You see, multiple desktops are a poorgay thing, for losers like you who can't afford multiple monitors. People with jobs, lives, etc. have never needed them. Hell, on 90%+ of Windows 10 installs, the multiple desktop feature is one of the first things that are turned off.
TL;DR: freetards BTFO again for the thousandth time this microsecond.

In my experience, it was more because Linux had such shitty multi-monitor support. It's only in the last few years that it's gotten usable. It's why it birthed such horrors as x2x to work around it.

Microsoft actually had plans to add true virtual desktops to Windows (and not just that awful toy you could download from MSDN) ages ago. They left it out because the average Windows user is so fricking dumb that it confused the QA testers.
Not even Macgays are this dumb.

I, the second person you quoted, am not OP, lmao. Just realized freetards were actually willing to defend shitty, user-unfriendly sorting, and took that opportunity to have fun at your expense.

As someone pointed out, this is exactly why year of the Linux desktop will never happen. Linux fixes thing, Winjeets complain about it years after they're fixed, and freetards claim it's a feature instead of simply telling them - perhaps not even realizing - it's already been fixed.

            >instead of simply telling them - perhaps not even realizing - it's already been fixed.
That is not what I meant. If someone is actually using Linux and genuinely complaining about it, they won't even notice, and if they're arguing in bad faith they'll just respond to this with accusations of lying.

Linux has no problem with thumbnails in the file manager. It's the filepicker dialog that doesn't have them.

Too hard for the unemployed "programmers" working on open-source software?

This is more natural way for humans.
Computers look at characters and sort that way. Humans look at numbers as one blob. Leading zeros remove the ambigiuity but you never know how much you need.
I prefer the blob method but strictly speaking it is not the "correct" way and reqires more complexity.
If you want to be more user friendly the default should be the blob in my opinion.

That's pretty moronic, can't file managers do A-Z sorting that also does numerical sorting? That just looks like alphabetical sorting is being applied to the numbers as well, it's just literally saying that the word "One" comes before "Ten" despite there no letters being there.
